General Discussion / Re: AGS on TV
Sat 05/08/2006 16:11:53
Sounds really cool. AGS pops up here and there every now and then. :)
I remember when I first got in touch with AGS. My classmate copied an article on game making programs from a swedish PC magazine, and there was a short article on AGS. That was like five years ago. Still addicted to the damn program. ;D

Thanks for all the comments and critique, guys. Didn't think there would actually be this many replies. ;D

@lo_res_man: Well, uhm. I dunno really. He was kind of meant to be a concept for a possibly upcoming Wolfenstein-mod. But I never did that mod, though.

@ildu: Thanks a lot for the advice. Actually, I don't have a tablet. I did the signature with a transparent brush. I'll consider getting one, though. It would be great to have one.

@Ben304: Thanks for the tips. I'm glad you liked the coloring, took me some time to do. :)

@Krysis: Starving hobbits? Now that you mention it, they do look odd. I've never studied human anatomy, so it was difficult to get them to look at least a little bit right. :P

Hmm, you've got a point there. I'll keep that in mind next time I draw a flame-thrower bearing nazi. ;D

Hello there! It's been a while since I posted some of my work here. :P
I've improved my "l33t drawing-skillz" since last time I posted something hand-drawn.
Now, I've got two pieces for you to criticize. One which is a nazi-dude holding a flame-thrower (inspired by Wolfenstein somewhat), and the other is an unshaded sketch of a dragoon (or dragon knight if you prefer) holding a spear.

The proportions on the flame-nazi is way off, I'm well aware of that. I couldn't be arsed to change it after I was done with the sketch, so I kept it the way it was. He's also holding the flame thrower in a very weird way. :P
Oh, ignore the signatures. Dunno why I put them there in the first place.

For the time being, I'd probably say that Final Fantasy Origins and TES4:Oblivion has made their way into the top ten.
I really love the system in FF2 and Oblivion. The way you upgrade your character by actually training them and not just by receiving experience points makes you feel more proud of them. Even if they're just fictional. ;D

A Sonic the Hedgehog-figurine
The declaration of independence in hebrew
A bottled fart
A Brad Pitt-mask

One of these actually exist in an adventure game. But I'll let you guys find out for yourselves which one it is. :=

Good gravy, where did you learn to model like that? :=
It looks awesome. I too loved the Wing Commander series, beats the crap out of all Star Wars games and other sci-fi space shooters.

Sounds great, HillyBilly, can't wait to play this awesome-looking game. :=
It's a good thing you're saving for release, gets people more excited and curious. I'm sure none of us will be dissapointed when we finally get to play it. :)

Hey there, fellow adventure-gamers. ;)

I need help with a little something, or, well, a big something actually.
As some of you may know, I'm developing a fan-installment to the FF-series with a friend. The project is going great, and progresses for almost every day.
What we need is a composer, who can also remake songs. We need a composer that can:
* compose entirely new musical pieces with a Super Nintendo-ish feel (songs that sound like they actually came straigh from a Super Nintendo-game, or at least close to)
* remake classic 8-bit songs to fit the 16-bit atmosphere of the game
* and also, though this is not needed, it would be nice if you also could add more variance to the songs that are a bit repetive.
That last one is not a must, as mentioned. If you are intrested in trying out for the 'job', contact me on MSN/hotmail at: Marcus_Belmont@hotmail.com or send me a PM here on the forums. If my ordinary mail would not work for some reason, send an e-mail to VohaulThreepwood@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance.

I believe there's no adventure game that's had these things;
the swedish flah
the flag of Skåne (a part of sweden)
blue cup mutated into a three-legged goblin
a jar of earwax
a glass-bowl with decorative patterns
ancient, egyptian toilet paper.
Well, using them as part of the inventory wouldn't make sense anyways, so I can see why they haven't been in any adventure game yet, if they haven't. :P

It's nice to see so many cool-looking projects are in development. Though, I did expect to see a bit more stuff in this thread. Well, so far so good, keep it up everyone! :)

By the way, I've made a website for the fan-project I posted screenshots from earlier.
http://www.finalfantasyfangame.tk/
Designed and all by me in under an hour. ;D
There's some new stuff to see at the site, a couple of new screens and a development diary.

Me and my friend are developing a Final Fantasy fan-game in RPG Maker 2003, which is going great. We've got loads of stuff done in a short amount of time, no real story yet, though. :P

Here's some facial portraits and a screenshot from the game;

NOTE: It's not that far in progress yet, so things might look a bit different in the upcoming demos and/or final version.

I'm not too fond of those labels either. They're ridiculous, IMO.

Heh, I saw this guy at school who had a t-shirt saying "FUCK PARENTAL ADVISORY". I'd like one of those shirts too. ;D

No more comments, critics or ways to improve the pic? Anybody? :=

Looking great there, Hillybilly. Some nice voice-samples too. If you need some more voice-actors, I could give it a try. :)

Slightly edited, used the method Jimmy and Corey suggested with a few other changes.

Thanks for the comments and crits, here's another new version:

Changed texture for the sidewalks, added a trash bin, and changed some other few details.

@Scott: Yes, the dodging/burning lighting I did by hand. As it's supposed to be a dirty and dark slum area, I might use that style of lighting, but maybe not that heavy lighting as in the example. :P
#78
Tried to follow your advice as good as I could, Babar.
Here's a new version, non-lighted:

Changed texture for street, added, removed and changed a few details.

Hey there!
It's been quite a while since I last did a background, so the most recent one I have made didn't turn out that good. But, I'll let you judge for yourselves. :P
Version 1, normal coloring, no lights:

Version 2, using light-filter in PSCS:

Yes, I know the filter sucks. Uploaded it anyways. :P
Version 3, lights using dodge and burn:

I wasn't really satisfied with it in the first place, and the lighting didn't make it any better, really. :-\
But, crit away! Harsh critics, kind critics, contructive critics, all welcome. :)

EDIT: As the name of the files imply, it's supposed to look like a slummy place in the outskirts of New York City. The building with the green sign is a pizzeria, where most parts of the story will be told ingame. I've got the original PSD on the hard-drive in case anyone wants to do an advanced paintover.

QuoteSorry to say it, but none of those are punk. Pop-rock

Actually early greenday and blink 182 are punk!!!

I would say they're more punk-rock than punk. At least Green Day is.

But, best rock song is: Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven. ;D
