AGS Games in Production / Re: Heroine's Quest

There will be a few similar monsters. Frost Giant, as seen in QFG1... I don't know if you've heard of a Lindworm. It's essentially a Nordic version of the Wyvern, minus wings. There's so many monsters from Nordic mythology to draw on.

Can't really think of any female specific skills. So far, it's essentially the same skills as the usual hero.

Thanks for all the comments!  :)

Overview:

Welcome to the inhospitable Northland, where trolls and wolves stalk the night, and where you are just one thin cloak away from turning into an icicle.

Rumor has it that Jotnar, the frost giants, are on the loose, and that Fenrir the Devourer stirs in his sleep. Gossip says that eldritch Svartalf magic runs wild, and that trade caravans disappear. People curse the incessant cold and eye each other warily, one hand on their trusty axe. And Northlanders are not known for their even temper.

What the land needs is a Heroine, and she had better arrive now. Are you up to the task, or will you die trying?

Current Team:

Corby: Backgrounds/Sprites/Portraits

Wow! Great comments!
The heroine should remind you of Zanthia actually.

Ya, the links to the older demos are down, until I re-upload them. This was due to the website updating.
#125
Thanks for the kind words! Yup, the plot is a classic story, hope no one minds.
The full game may/may not have the quest seen in the first demo. The town of Fair Spring will also be completely changed, with a whole new look, and a bit smaller and less confusing.
Glad everyone likes the animations and backgrounds!  :)

Hello,

Heroine Quest has a new demo.
Try it out here: www.corbydesigns.com/hq/hqintro.zip (12.5 Mb)

Enjoy, and we'd welcome some constructive feedback. :)

If anyone wants to see the near completed product, you can check out this demo (4megs):

I think the front walk cycle still needs some work. The boob problem should be fixed.

Thanks everyone.

I'm just using Zanthia to make a walk cycle for my heroine. Nothing really Kyrandia related though.

Am I missing a frame? So far I have 7 frames of animation. I'm just getting the feeling I'm missing 1 for some reason. How many frames does a walk cycle usually have just out of curiosity?

PSDÃ, HERE in case someone wants to play with it:

Great, thanks for the tips. And thanks BT for the encouragement.  :) Now how about the forest scene perspective?
#131
I think I do need some help, I don't understand my perspective errors. But perspective has always been by biggest problem so I should get help soon. Maybe a mod could toss this in the critics lounge and someone could show me what I'm doing wrong here. (The town pic and forest pic perspective).

I whipped up  new tutorial on Sierra similar forests. I hope this is the right place to post this. If not, feel free to move it. Enjoy!

Thanks! The Hero sprite is just a placeholder. She'll actually have a whole new look in the final game. I animated her by looking at an AGI version of Roger Wilco. It was my first real walk cycle I guess.

It's south east of the town.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments!  :)

General Discussion / Photoshop Meltdown :(
Sun 03/10/2004 07:07:47
Hello,

I was working on a great background in photoshop, when I pressed crtl-s to save. Photoshop froze up and I had to reset my computer. When I booted back up, the old psd was now a .tmp file and wouldn't be reconized by photoshop. Can anyone download this file and try to restore it if such a thing is possible? Here's the link:
http://www.this-is-me.ca/corby/pic.psd

Also, I just installed new memory to my computer. Could this have been why photoshop failed?
Thanks!

Good advice! Thanks  8)

Could someone possibly match the perspective of the roof to the floorboards? This is my first interior scene and I'm inexperienced.  :)

Thanks and please ignore the plainess of the room!

That did it!  :-[
