Exciting news! Can't wait 'till the next week (or the week after the next week :P) then!

Now that's a pretty nice idea for a birthday present. :D

An yeah, the art style's pretty adorable, hope it gets released to public soon! :)

Hey, it's totally ok! I work as an engineer, so I like talking about such technical details. :D

Here's how it looks like in 1280x960, and nearest neighbour/AA filter (these two are available in the AGS runtime engine setup):

Thanks a lot oareaso. :)

Your graphics are actually gorgeous, and they're perfectly fit for (real, not shy 800x600) hi-res. Maybe you should consider doubling or tripling up the resolution of everything. It's not as a huge task as it sounds : If you apply a filter like Mame2x, then it will still look perfectly crisp, and you could bulk-do it: I think Imagemagick does it, so you can even do it as a batch. then the game files would be rather large, but I think your game is worth it.

While this is a nice idea, wouldn't that also mean that I'd need to redraw all of the walkable areas/walk behinds/hotspots, as well as rescale the object/character sprites and rescript most of the resolution-dependent GUIs?

All of the screens I posted on Steam, as well as the whole trailer, were taken from double resolution (1280x960), though I did it by simply setting the 2x nearest neighbour scaler in the options. ;)

Thanks Blondbraid! We're glad you like it! :)

I am almost afraid to ask this... but this IS still being developed in AGS right? (In a way it's a compliment 'cause I can't tell)

Haha, thanks. ;) And yes, it sure is. :D Here's a sneak peak of the room I'm currently working on:

Since it will be both available in day and nighttime, that means double the scripting and spriting work! Whew, am I glad for that 30k sprite limit... :D

Oh yeah, that's some great news! Can't wait to play it as well! :D
This picture would be grand for the main menu or credits sequence. :)

Thanks Shaun and Cassiebsg. :D So far the game is doing good, I guess? I never really put anything on Greenlight before, so Problem mostly explains how the things look visit-and-votes-wise, heh. ;)

By the way, some people asked for a full version of the troodon artwork from the trailer, so here it is. Instead of just using conversation portraits, we decided to make such artworks for every dino/creature in the encyclopedia!

#388
Of all the new stuff, I especially like the gif with the otter. :D He looks so cute, trotting just like that!
Great stuff, Shaun. :) Keep'em coming!
#389
Thanks Stupot and Fitz, much appreciated! :D

And regarding the soundtrack... haha, I know! Problem is very talented, especially when it comes to such acoustic tracks - just the thing we needed for Zniw Adventure. His guitar skills are really something to admire. :)

Ok guys, I was quiet for the last two months... because I was extra busy with the newest, big update (and big news!)

First of all I'd like to welcome our fellow user Denis 'Problem' Comtesse onboard! You may know him from AGS games like Rogue State or Conspirocracy - he will be joining us as a main composer for Zniw Adventure!

And now, the big news regarding our game. After more than two years of development we decided it's finally time to show our little adventure game with dinosaurs to a wider audience. In other words...

That's right, my friends, it's voting time - you shall decide the fate of our dinosaurs! Will they succeed and find shelter under the wings of Greenlight, or will they be hit by the extinction wave? Their survival is up to you, fellow user!
But seriously, thanks for your support, and remember - every vote, comment, suggestion and feedback is always welcome and much appreciated. :D

I remember that feeling: first lines, first fuctions working as expected... :) Magic!

I remember my first crappy (but working) two-room demo, with hastily drawn and animated sprites, crammed full with almost every thing imaginable (even some FMV cutscenes), just for testing and practice purposes. Ah, the jolly time of Christmas 2008... shame I didn't download it earlier! (I was aware of AGS since 2004, when I played good ol' Pleurghburg for the first time).

Welcome aboard Ark! Good luck with your productions! ;)

Hey there! Here's a message for all you cool people out there - me and Twarda decided today it's about time to start looking for a music composer for our little cartoon slash comic adventure game with dinosaurs!

Details: Generally we're seeking some generally positive acoustic guitar/tribal vibe (it is a game with dinosaurs, after all :D) tracks, kinda like the ones we used in the demo version, though we're always open for your own ideas - who knows, it might work even better for the prehistoric setting of the game! (also right now we're desperately looking for a short (1 minute max.) track (same rules apply, as above), for the trailer we're creating. It would be grand if we would get it before the 13th of April).

There are several different locations in the game, that would need their own separate track, like the forest, the river bank, a tourist spot near the falls, dark and gloomy caves, the dinosaur village, a lake, also some endgame/credits composition would be nice as well! (day/night variants of the same song would also apply to some of the locations)

We don't have a whole lot of money, since we're creating Zniw Adventure without any kind of Kickstarter/external funding, but rest assured - I saved some munnies, so you won't be working for free. ;)

Deadline: since some meddling real life popped up (the development takes up almost all of our free time), the game's release date has been pushed to either mid or late 2016. But we're expecting sometime past mid-2016!

Comments: If you're feeling you're up for the challenge, then please, either reply here, or via PM. If you drop us your track/sample, I shall try to reply as fast as possible! Also if you shall need any more feedback, regarding the look and feel of the locations, the design, the mood etc., don't hesitate and drop me a shout!

Thanks in advance!

Hehe, good to see people picking up on the heavy visual influence that CoMI is on Gibbous. Yep, I'm a big Bill Tiller fan, and same here: Curse is one of my favorite adventures AND games, ever. Could be that it holds a special place in my heart because it was one of the first games I ever played on my PC back in '97, but it's definitely not just that. The cartoony graphics were INCREDIBLE at the time, and they still hold up enough that a re-mastered version is not necessarily required visually (although that'd be pretty cool, too), and the humor is absolutely top notch.

Oh and a juicy tidbit: Larry Ahern, co-director of CoMI, said he'd play the demo! Even if I never hear back from him, just that made my whole week/month/year.

Hey, another Bill Tiller fan? High five then! :D I remember playing CoMI around 1997, as I had the demo version on one of the shareware discs (man, remember these grand little things?). Fell in love with the graphics at the first sight - I was so pumped, I just HAD to get the full version! Also - great news with the Larry Ahern as well!
Just finished playing the demo. I heard several issues with the audio playback, though it was already adressed by the others (most noticeably the little girl conversation). Other than that - I really enjoyed playing it, the fluid animation looks even better in action (man, how many key and in-between frames are you drawing, to achieve such level of fluidity?). :D Can't wait for more - keep up the great work!
#394
The art style and the fluid, totally cartoony, animation is completely adorable, especially for me, as I used to animate stuff in Flash before, and always aimed at such level of fluid playback/in-betweens. Amazing skill, I'd say! :D
Overall it really does remind me of Monkey Island 3, and that's one of my all time favourite games, not just adventure ones, but in general. I totally need to check the demo version when I get home. :)

Best of luck with the Kickstarter and the development! :D

I've read about this game on several polish general gaming/adventure games sites, and I'm already all excited about it. :D Can't wait!

Alright, voted! :D

And thank you so much for including our little dinosaur game! That was unexpected, but totally pleasant for us. :) Congratulations for all the other nominees as well!
#397
Voted! Keep up the good work and good luck with the Greenlight. :)
#398
Agreed, the visuals are simply amazing. Definitely must play the demo when it comes out!
Nice little gameplay trailer as well. Best of luck with the development!
#399
Indeed, this project remindes me a lot of Dreamweb, a game I loved as a kid (despite not being for kids at all, heh). ;)
Gotta try the demo later, as I already like that futuristic and dark art style and design. Best of luck with the development!

:D
If we weren't trying to stay scientifically accurate, we'd definitely use those names. :D

Here's another one for you, this time doing much more typical daily work, then just standing/sitting/playing with sticks/munching the village's food reserves, like there's no tommorow:

This one's a tricky one, though! A small hint - it was discovered fairly recently. ;)
