Yeah, it has a game speed set to 85 - however it's still weird, as v-sync issues would cause constant slowdown (as seen on one user video), rather than during specific parts of the game (room scrolling etc.), hmm...

The purpose is for it to run while dialog is happening.

Somehow I totally missed that from the original post, even though I read it twice. Guess that's what happens when you're replying at 2AM. :-D

Glad to see the 'Animating' approach is working well for you!

Unless there's a specific reason to put that code in repeatedly_execute_always (like changing it during cutscenes etc.), I would suggest putting it to repeatedly_execute instead. ;)

As for the question - you can either check the Button.Loop property, just like morganw mentioned, or the Button.Animating property (it will prevent firing up the animation constantly when the button's already animated. And on the anxiety value change, you can stop the old animation and run the new one).

You need to set proper access permissions to the data folders. AGS doesn't do that by default:

Code: ags
chmod u+x yourMainGameScriptNameHere
chmod u+x "$SCRIPTPATH/ags64" "$SCRIPTPATH/ags32"

Hints & Tips / Re: Zniw adventure

Spoiler
You already picked them up and used them, since you have the torch - you can't light that bone without using dry leaves on it first.

I think that's a question for the hints and tips thread. :D
Spoiler
They're in the fresh air cavern, to the far right. Unless you already picked them up and dropped them somewhere else.

And thanks so much, everyone! Yeah, the last couple of days have been extra crazy and busy for me (who said everything's over the moment your game is released, huh?), but man, we're absolutely floored by the amount of positive feedback we've received so far!

I've actually noticed it too, even described it on the forum once - for whatever reason the framerate dipped a bit in scrolling rooms, when an animated GUI is displayed (I guess due to alpha blended sprites used?), or when a large object is animated and visible on the screen (Lambeosaurus in Wajapulka, or background river animation in Rivenn-na).

Thank you so much, everyone! Yeah, it's definitely been a crazy ride, but I'm so glad we managed to survive 'till the very end...

Just to make sure: Steam only, no itch.io or GoG or...?

Steam at the moment, but I'm working on it! Currently waiting for GoG to (hopefully!) reply...

Oh, and don't forget to add it to the DB, you can't sweep all the AGS awards if you don't put your game there.  (laugh)  ;)

Right! The new page is up. :D

Man, I will sure miss posting all those GIFs in this thread... but I guess all the good things come to an end. But in all seriousness, Zniw Adventure was released today!

So yeah, I guess that's it, guys. Thanks for sticking with me for so long! Darth Mandarb, I'd be happy if you would do the honors!

Completed Game Announcements / Zniw Adventure
Fri 06/11/2020 21:43:44
After all these years (and 15 pages of GiP thread), me and Twarda are more than happy to announce our dinosaur game has finally landed on Steam!

>>> STEAM LINK <<<

Her mother's hatchday is just around the corner and Zniw is trying to find the ultimate gift. This young yellow
female dinosaur is armed with a sharp tongue and knowledge from books, but lacking in navigational skills.
As unfortunate events unfold, Zniw ends up far from her hometown of Wajapulka. While desperately trying
to find her way back home, she stumbles in on a major problem in the neighboring village...

Will you help Zniw on her journey?

* 4:3, 640x480 oldschool, hand-drawn and animated visuals with a comicbook vibe
* over 5 minutes of Saturday morning cartoon-like cutscene segments
* an acoustic soundtrack, done by our guitar virtuoso, Problem!
* over 20 different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures to meet and learn more about
* several locations to explore, including forests, caves, riverbanks, villages...
* optional bonus content, including unlockable encyclopedia, concept artworks, minigames and more!

Many thanks to all the good folks of the AGS community, that replied in the GiP topic over the years, helped me on tech channel at Discord when my AGS IDE decided to throw a tantrum, and otherwise supported us in any way or form. You all rule!

Yeah, I was too young to play it when it was released, but I eventually caught up with most of the 90's classics. :D

Speaking of...

(had to crop it a bit, because it would be way too obvious)

It's going to be weird finally seeing this game complete.

Haha, same. It was a mix of unfortunate decisions, retooling a free, short game into a full-fledged experience, and no dedicated development time or funds. Had we done some things better, and actually worked on the game full time, instead of just sacrificing our free time after day jobs, I reckon it would be finished in 2018, maybe 2019 tops.

But hey, it was also a great learning experience, so we won't repeat the same mistakes in the future. :=

Thanks a lot, it definitely is exciting! ...And it fills me with anxiety, haha.

As an added bonus, have the cover artwork Twarda finished recently:

#57
Well now, that definitely took a while, didn't it? But without further ado...

Looking at those 14 pages of AGS thread, that's definitely been one crazy ride, huh?

Here's also a Twitter post if you want to pass the good word around!

A wild Steam page update appeared! Now then, what could that mean...?  ;)

(speaking of, I finally changed all these old screenshots with newest ones, phew. About time!)

Plugging into the topic, as I saw that several times in ZA too. The audio clip overriding each other, and the AudioChannels inner workings in general is sadly something I've never fully understood, despite working for 5 years in AGS. My only hotfix for that was to play some sounds with the low priority, so that they wouldn't interfere with much more important ones.

What's worse, if the audio channel that was overridden featured some kind of manual volume/panning, the new clip will play with the same settings, which will produce very jarring audio glitches.

Thanks so much, Cuiki! Really glad you like it!

Since our situation got much more stable and we're still working from home, I don't have to waste time driving to and from my day job, and thus made some great progress in the last three weeks. And welp, I guess I should post a bit more frequent updates here haha.

We're getting there, I can feel we're closer than ever before... Oh, and I also updated the topic name, since we're not using the old title anymore.
