QuoteYour Download link fails...
It should work now.

Concept: Flugeldufel Looks like a lost gem.
Playability: WHAM. We clearly need to get in.
Artistic Execution: Alan v.Drake. The washed out colors remind me of Guard Duty by Chicky.

Nice sceneries overall.

In Cassie's pic, the perspective of the gate doesn't match the pediment IMO.

QuoteSince I can't make a worthwhile game, I'm not going to push myself to complete something mediocre again. So, I'm dropping out.
Maybe you just don't have the time to make a game on your own in one month. IMO, two of your MAGS games (Mystery Meat Mayhem and the Summoned) end when they should take off.

QuoteCreamy: You will need to pull your finger out
Perhaps I wasn't clear. My game is done.

QuoteToo busy making Jurassic Park Halloween Party for a bunch of kids...
You're living the theme then.

Here's my entry:

DOWNLOAD

It's based on Crimson Wizard's source code for Last & Furious but it's not a racing game.

The replies for the bad choices are not implemented yet. I won't be able to return to the game before the end of the month.

That did the trick  :)

Thank you again CW.
Clumsily fiddling with your code, I was able to achieve what I had in mind.

Now, it's hopefully the final stretch. The game works fine when I test it in the editor. However it keeps its old behaviours when I compile it:
- it doesn't start in the right room,
- the AI cars use your old sprites,
- your game menu can be accessed with the escape key (which I had disabled).
- even my airegions are not taken into account.

Any life saving tip?

Hi Crimson,

Can you please tell me how to get rid of the opponents? I need them to disappear at a certain point.

I've tried to make them go in another room:
Code: ags
  cAICar1.ChangeRoom(1);
  cAICar2.ChangeRoom(1);
  cAICar3.ChangeRoom(1);
  cAICar4.ChangeRoom(1);
  cAICar5.ChangeRoom(1);

Or to update the race options:
Code: ags
ThisRace.Opponents = 0;

It doesn't crash the game but it doesn't work.

QuoteSo, if I ever do anything with it, I will switch the role of the player to the kids fighting against Pennywise, which would be a lot more work than I will have time for this month.
Doesn't it make you redo the whole game?

QuoteHas anyone else got anything to show or tell about their entry?
Mine is playable but unfinished. I won't be home next week-end so I'll probably post it this wednesday.

Nice perspective Mandle. That's some hairy clouds  :-D

Like VampireWombat, I keep my spare time for a MAGS project but I like the theme.

It's working.

Stupidly, I had tried to set baselines for the objects but not for the characters.
I had supposed that the baseline of the characters would have been at their feet if they were working (which doesn't seem to be the case).

Thanks for your patience.

The expected behaviour: the player controls a paper plane with an adjective written on it. It passes over pictures. When the player is over the right picture and press the spacebar, the picture changes.

I can't use different backgrounds because I have several pictures that must be changed individually.

I can't use objects because they are always drawn on top of the character's dynamic sprite, notwithstanding the baselines.

The normal characters behave the same way (always drawn on top).
Maybe I could use one of your AI characters. Is there a way to disable the collisions?
#612
Thanks for making the source code available, Crimson Wizard.

I try to use it for my MAGS game. It's working great but I have a problem:  I need to draw some objects behind the characters.
Is there a simpler way to do it than this?

You always use this trick where your side views are not completely sideways but rather three-quarter face with both feet at the same level (Pendek, Football Game). It's OK but I feel it doesn't convey much depth.

QuoteRandom note - you don't wear suspenders with a belt! It's one or the other! If you can't trust your suspenders to hold up your pants, you can't be trusted period lol

Suspenders and belt is what my boss tells me when she wants me to be extra-careful with a customer  :-D

I have a feel-good concept for a kid's game :-D

Quote from: eri0oI have a sort of story sketch thing

Looks and sounds awesome.

QuoteThe Talented Mr. Ripley
That's a brillant nerve-wracking movie. My sister in law walked out of the screening.

Artistic execution: lorenzo. It looks like a panel extracted from a good comic book.

Playability: Flugeldufel. Any background here is playable. I just like this one very much too.

Concept: Deabriel. I don't see any real "concept" here. So I reward another scenery that I like.

The other pictures aren't bad. I just feel like these 3 stand out.

Quote from: FlugeldufelIt lacks some polish
Are you kidding? It's more polished than most people can do.
I was inspired to "continue" it even if I figured out that I had neither the skill nor the time to match it:

Best Writing: WHAM â€" all three stories were written competently but I found Livestreaming particularly lively.
Best Character: Baron â€" Urrg and his beast wife are so improbable   :-D
Best News Event: WHAM.  Cool phenomenon (from afar). I recognized Sinitrena's story early on.
Best News Coverage: Sinitrena . Precise and stylish.

QuoteI'm trying to put something together because the theme is just too sweet to ignore.

You're darn right.

Good luck to get something done in the short span and sorry again for letting you down.

Since I was reminded of the game by this review, I played it yesterday.

I had a good time. The puzzles were on the easy side since you rarely have many screens or items to check at any given moment but the whole game was engaging. I couldn't help but notice Broken Sword vibes

and also a nod to Monkey Island 2 at the end :D
