 Whoop.

A nice-nice man has converted a gamebook I wrote for jollies into an online-typ[e thing. He has lot's of other fun book/games on his site too.

The one I wrote is short and not too serious, a kind of silly pulp-crime/generic-fantasy crossover, but some of the others are very impressive, as is the online-transation-doodle. Just thought some of you might like, and any feedback on my writings is most welcome and helpful.

These are just something I was drawing last night. I'm thinking of doing a once or twice weekly web-comic  based on the "Last Clown Standing" thing I did for the February MAGS game, because it was fun to do, and people seemed to like it, and those seem like good reasons to ressurect an idea.
I wanted to do it in a style that was more "serious" than my normal comic stuff, but as I really have no formal art training apart from what I got at school about a decade ago, I'd apprechiate any feedback and tips. I think I'm doing okay, but I'm having problems with perspective on limbs, and making things seem "solid", I think.
The sillouette bit is just me playing around with my new pen., and is a different view of one of the scenes in the game. I think it looks kinda cool.

Cheers in advance....

THis might not count as a game, I guess - it be very short, and is really only and interactive intro to the game I would have made if I hadn't found out about this months theme one day after the official closing date, and had to make my entry in a couple of frantic hours.
I got the weird little scenario in my head after reading this months rules, though, and wanted to get shot of them. Hopefully, it's a bit of fun, and you will find it laugh-making.

All props to Masser Gilbert for hosting me.... I had fun making it, and might go back to the character/world another time.

I'm working on a fairly serious game at the moment - there's humour, but I'm trying to keep it dark and underplayed. Something I've always admired in AGs games is whenb the author takes the time to put in a reaction for just about every interaction - using a wall, or the sky , or taking a building, or talking to a rubbish bin, you know - and it's something I'd like to try to do in this game.
WIth the more serious tone, though, I'm not sure what to do. In a "wacky" game, it's eay to stick jokes and cheery nonsense in, but I'd rather keep a more "real world" feel here. See, in real life, it's unllikely that you'd take time out to be all comedic when you touch a wall, or try to chat to a beech tree, and using simple descriptions - "It's made of wood and covered in bark"."It's just a brick wall" - seems kind of redundant.
Are there any serious games that have this level of interaction, or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

I've found that when I port a game I was working on in the old dos version of AGS over to the newer, better, sexier windows version, the dialoge command "set-speech-view" no longer works, although it works fine in games I've made using only the windows version. It's annoying and odd.
Any ideas?

Me and my flatmate Steve got moved into our new home over the weekend, this old teraced bungalow, and we are now happy and settled. This is one of the most "full of character" places I've ever lived. Turning out to be very entertaining. Some of the more interesting aspects of our new home...

The Panic Button - It's on the wall in the hallway, just inside the front door. It's not connected to anything, but it says "PANIC PRESS" in indented silver letters on its casing. It's great, and I press it at every oppotunity. Nothings happened yet, sad to say.

The Never Ending Strains Of "Singing in the Rain" - Our neighbours children, presumably, really love "Singing in the Rain", causing their father - presumably - to sing it repeatedly, at random times throughout the day. And night. In a really, really bassy voice. Disquieting.

The Scary Door - The place is over a hundred years old, pit-cottage job,  so you got to expect some degree of warping, but the living room door is just absurd. The door, frame, metal-carpet-protecting-thing and ceiling all seem to skew off at slightly different angles. Looking at it for too long makes your eyes water. It's great.

Big Scary Bulge In The Bedroom Wall - extends all the way across my bedroom (the smaller one, as I lost the game of scissors, paper stone) , from door to window at about head height. It looks like it's about to rupture at any moment, and send hundreds of gallons of water spewing into my room, but happily, the only thing on the other side of the wall is the man who sings "SInging in the Rain", and I'm not all that afraid of him.

Disobedient Fridge - Works fine, mostly, then freaks and freezes all the beer solid during the night. I really wish it wouldn't.

Resident Cat - Don't know if he used to live here or not, but he certainly acts like he owns the place. He seems to be constantly waiting outside the back door, waiting for his chance to slip in and hide under Steves bed. I think he's great, and have named him Yossarian. Steve doesn't like him so much.

Depth Charges - a big, echoey "clang", like a depth charge going off near a submarine in a movie, will be sounded from some unidentifiable point, randomlly, as far as we can tell. We've got no ideas on the cause of that one, yet.

Exciting Floor - There isn't three square feet of floor that's level anywhere in the place. It makes every footstep an adventure.

Blood Stains on the Settee, and hallway and bedroom carpet - I know where these came from. I'm sure they should bother me more than they do. But they don't.

The place is great. House warmongs this weeken, and my birthday's tommorow. Joy.

General Discussion / Hey...

Hey...

I've worked on a couple of games with my mate Duncan - the RON Melt & Drake games - and have lurked around the forums occasiuonally, but have never really got involved. Some of the discussions on this board seem real interesting though, so I'm going to try and get involved more...
Teh forums seem a friendily, literate and well humoured place, and I'm looking forward  to talking with other game-makers.

So, just a generic "Hello", I suppose...

I'm currently working on the rest of the "night of the kittens" game with Duncan, and playing round with some ideas for a cartoon strip. And other stuff. Yeah.
