Hey guys. Well AGS' forums have no tutorial section, so i decided to post it here anyway. Maybe moderators will move it to the archives or better forums.

my friend and an artist Orlando, had that link to the amazing Walking Cycle tutorial. I thought that it will be very useful to people here. It's very advanced and professional tutorial.

use avi. That's the option. Tell me the resolution of the movie.

I have 1:20 min intro movie for my game. Of a very high quality with full sound and music integrated into avi file. and it takes only 658kb. Cause i've used Windows Media Codec V9.

Tis codec works perfectly with AGS. (jsut do nto forget to switch the gameinto 16 bit mode and recompress avi in 16 bit mode using Windows Media Codec V9 as a compressor). For (re)-compression use VirtualDub (google for it), which is free and is a great movie editing tool.

I'm mkaing plenty of short intros and movies and have much experience in compressing them. I'm a 3D modeler. So i'm using often the video demo reels of my models. AVI is the best choice for you. Although tell me the specs of thegame and your movie file (color depth, resolution and so on).

well, sorry for bothering with such unimportent thing, but i though that i would say it. nothing too serious or anything, but it would be nice if you can make the "talking color" field a little bit wider, cause when i'm using a high color mode, i'm adding 5 digit numbers in there, the last number isn't seen or half seen, cause the field is too small. So would be nice if you can increase the width of the field.

well you have script commands, which need to be run. Plugin has two seperate commands for snow and rain effect. Just check with the readme file.

And ya, Scorpiorus is an amazing coder ;)

if you do not want to be sued for copyright issues than do nto accept the offer.

The thing is that you used HL content. Textures. models, etc... those things are copyrighted to the owner, which is Valve and its publisher. Selling that kind of game means copyright violation -> that firm (but mainly YOU, cause you are the developer) will be sued for at least 25.000 $. Also they can put you into the jail. I think those guys understand that the main responsobility will be on you, so think for yourself ;)

If i were you, i wouldn't accept the offer. Believe my knowledge.

Hey Chris, why don't you release the both versions? the one that supports NT and the one that supports original Win95.

actually this is full version. There is no sounds and music, but its a full.

We beta-test it and report bugs to Yahtzee and he corrects them. When he is satisfied, he will add sounds and music and will post it for everyone's downlaod as a full version ;)

well i'm not sure if it was posted already, i do not have time to lok through all 7 pages, but here is what i encountered!


When you start the game and in the menu, you choise load game, the load screen appeares, but instead of clicking somewhre there, you select the new game in the main manu, the game begins, but the load screen stays on forever ;) It doesn't disappeare.


P.S. sorry if you are aware of this problem already.

yes, there are alot of bugs. We are beta-testing the game and it updates every day.

btw the bug witht he book was fixed.

hmmm you mean you can't change cause the function doesn't work? or is it loops inside the view which are limited to a number within 10 ;) and not views at all? or what?

Scor is right, some specification is needed. Especially the version number of the AGS.

Cause as i may see it's not the last one. Cause the last one has 600 view max.

well, after i read the plot idea, I said to myself: "another guy who dreams about porno, pathetic". But! After looking at screenies i must say that you spent some time drawing the graphics. Both background and character looks nice. Do not see any animation sequences, but i hope they look good as well.

So i'll try it out just only because of its look, but if  i like it (and i guess if others like it) completely depends on how well you may write up the story and make it fun to play. Having good graphics, but bad story won't make your game to live for a long time and vise versa, if you have good story but bad graphics you are going to make this game popular anyway.
And if you have both! well man, than you made another "5 days a stranger" or "apprentice" or... "LARRY" ;)

well was going to post the same topic, but wasn't the first ;)

the company Bad Brain Entertainment, which specializasion is adventures, dropped a hint that it has negosiations about buying the rights for the game where the main roles are played by the animals. The oficial of a company didn't go into details due to "confedentiality agreement" or something similar, but still this raises hopes. heheheh

but we fan aren't so easy to be stopped. Someone looked into the html code of their website and found there the lines: "sam, max, 2". So i may say that its a good sign ;) Let's wait and see what's going to happen.

actually i couldn't finish the demo as i do not understand German ;) but i think if you finish the game it would be fun to play. Looks nice.


GUI - well i meant that the graphics which is use for Top GUI buttons isn't understandable, i could barely figure out what's drawn on the button ;)

And as i said, graphics is nice. Anyway this is Critics lounge, so i stop critisis ;) Good work so far, looking forward to see the final game. I love SH1 and SH2. But i bet english will be essential for this game, otherwise it will be popular (i hope it will) amoung german speaking population.

well, here is my ideas:


the graphic of the game looks nice. I like it. Not all games around here have the same level of drawing.

the character side walking animation needs improving. It seems that he is jumping and not walking.

The GUI is difficult to understand at first sight.

The demo is very very UNFINISHED. i would say it's pre-pre-pre-alpha release and not a demo. I can barely catch the autmosphere so far, but this is due to it's early stage of development. Anyway continue your work. I know that all that i said you were going to improve anyway, but still. Just a feed back.

Oh ya, the most important this is that not all people around here know german. Including me :(

that's good to see that Case 4 will get a new graphic rework and style ;) I was wondering, when Ben finally buys something else to wear :D

@Lazy Z: thanks for the warm words. About the hint - well it's not that i was a newbie or inpolite, but that was the only way to update the thread and bring it up. If you look at the dates of those 3 in a raw posts, you will see that the time period between them is rather big... i know the rules and all that stuff, i myself a moderator on 2 forums and an admin on the third one ;)
So excuse me for those posts, but i had no option, otherwise i couldn't bring this up and show the update ;)

well Pod, Sector has his own percpective view on this... and actually not all the soldiers are stupid and rude... the game's main character actually seems to be very very intelligent person ;)

just a quick note for you guys, teh development is in progress, i've been very busy lately, but still in the work ;) The game is done by half...

also many things has changed. Especially this considers some desing issues.
