A quite fascinating online adventure from Cartoonnetwork, which I recently rediscovered after having played it almost 10 years ago:

Enjoy!

I've noticed that some early AGS games (like the old RON titles), which use the SETUP.bat instead of the usual winsetup.exe file run very slowly on my PC (all the animations and music "stutter"). Is there anything I could do about it?

I see that many screenshots from the early 2000's, which were hosted at http://www.2dadventure.com/, are now unavailable. Does anyone know whether they can be restored or not? There used to be tons of cool nostalgic things, like Treasure Thieves or Mount Monkey...

Another company has been founded by LucasArts veterans, called "Suddenly Social". They've announced their first project, called "Bad Pets"; you can read more about it here.

I personally hope they'll once get to make an adventure game (or at least a semi-adventure, like Psychonauts or Penny Arcade Adventures).

That thread inspired me to start this one... Have you ever dreamt of adventure games or had dreams that would make good adventure games? As for me, I once had a dream about Toonstruck with Pinky and Brain in it, and some time after that I dreamt about Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun being one of the ghosts in a Scooby-Doo episode.  ;D

I thought I'd tell you about the new AGS-based MI fanproject which takes place between MI2 and MI3, about the said Carnival of the Damned (aka Big Whoop), explaining how Guybrush wound up sailing in the red bumper car in the middle of the Caribbean. The art style is going to be similar to CMI, and the game will be divided in three episodes. The list of characters includes:
- Guybrush (of course)
- LeChuck
- Skeletal Pirates
- Largo (he's finally going to make a comeback)
- The Voodoo Lady
- Fettuccine Brothers
- Herman Toothrot (maybe)
- Cannibals (maybe)
- Pirate Bar Patron(s)
- Clown with a strong New Yorker accent
- Chuckie
- Guybrush as a child
- Elaine as a child
- Old man Guybrush
- John Decringe (a reference to Joseph Decreaux and Desinge)
- Winslow
- Stan
and more, and more! You can read the rest here: http://www.telltalegames.com/forums/showthread.php427

The project is currently looking for some background artists, the only available screenshot for now:

And a couple of other BG's, created by the same artist for a different project:

Stefano Gualeni, one of Tony Tough 1-2's creators, is planning to release a new action/puzzle game this summer.

The game, titled "GUA-LE-NI, or The Horrendous Parade", is going to have some innovative features, like using the player's biometric data (although that was previously used in Left 4 Dead and NBA, it will be presented from a new angle).
The game's site:

Although it's just a short flash game, I think you should check it out. It reminded me of oldschool adventures, and it has Cartoon Network characters  ;) Perhaps it will be inspiring for someone's AGS project.

This is a really old AGS project which was planned by Nixxon back in 2003. It was going to have awesome graphics and non-linear plot, but the creator hasn't appeared on the forums until 2006, and the site is still under construction. I suppose it's vaporware, but perhaps someone on the forums knows something about the game's fate?

I'm really suprised no one has started a thread about it yet. Ron Gilbert joins DF to work on some kind of secret project. He only mentioned that "It's very different from DeathSpank" and "Fans of old adventure games will like it", which doesn't nesessarily mean that it will be an adventure. Now we can have the first glimpse at the game's sketches, and to me it looks like something related to physics and matrixes.

As you probably remember, Toonstruck was cut in two parts before the release, and part 2 has never been released. Well, now it probably will be!

Keith Arem, a member of Toonstruck team who now owns the rights to it, is considering the re-release of Toonstruck which would include Toonstruck 2, but he needs "tremendous fan support" to justify its release and raise the capital. There's a fan petition which has already reached the point of 2000 signatures.

A quote from Mr. Arem (you can read his letter here):
Quote
While the game was internationally critically acclaimed, the game did
not receive the sales we hoped, and the second half was never released.
Now that my career has developed, I would like to re-release an updated
version of Toonstruck to include the 2nd half of the game (iPad, online,
etc), but I would need tremendous fan support to justify its release. I
am looking for someone to help organize a fan petition to help us raise
the capital to finance the game, so if you know anyone who could help
with this, I would appreciate the assistance.

There are some news on the DOTT2 fanproject: the engine has changed from Visionaire to Wintermute, and there's a new background. Moreover, a forum has been opened! Perhaps you'll be interested to check it out? (I was  ;D)

A few years ago there were ramblings about a Sam & Max fan game called Flintlocked (www.flintlocked.com). Now the project's closure is oficially confirmed, bu the developers released the beta demo along with the source code:

Anyone interested?

I'm currently unable to save games in AGS. It says: "Game saved", but the name of the save game doesn't appear in the list, and the agssave file is not created. (My folder is: C:\Games\)

Edit by strazer:

Cyrus confirms that the problem has been solved. Thanks guys!

I've recently come across the first fan project based on Toonstruck:
www.toonstruck2.com

The project is on an early stage, but even now I find it quite interesting. They've even created a YouTube trailer:

Hints & Tips / RON: Edge of Reality

Could anyone give me a hint? I've got
Spoiler
a bottle of river water, a fridge magnet, a camera and a fire extinguisher. How can I either pass the lasers or use the microwave?

I have heard rumblings of another (yes, one more! ;)) DOTT project located at this website: http://physics.ramapo.edu/~petmar/remake/ . However, all the links are dead, so I ask if anyone knows about that project. Hope I haven't bored the community with my MI and DOTT fanatism. ;)

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / DOTT parodies

Does anyone know any parodies on the DOTT? The only things I know are Night of the Hermit and Day of the Testicle.

Hello, some years ago a topic on this game was posred here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=15011.0, but since that time there was no news, and the topic was closed. I would like to lern if it is still under development or abandoned. The author is a guest, so I couldn't send him a PM and had to start this topic. That's why I ask the moderators not to close it.

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / MI:Illusion
Thu 26/04/2007 09:00:07
Some time ago I've found a thread on this game in "Completed" section. But the download link doesn't work any more, so no one is able to get this game. I would like to ask the author: where can I get the game? I'm also waiting for the answers from the ones who has already played it because I'm very interested in the plot. If someone answers me I will be very glad.
Best regards,
Cyrus.
