The Rumpus Room / Re: The Game Idea Thread

That would have been interesting ;-D

Just thought that the concept opens up to endless possibilities. There could be poisoned root beer, or exploding pecan candy (like the item from Sam & Max Hit the Road), or leaving Juju bags with voodoo dolls at the crime scene. Or... he could dress up one of his victims as cousin Ted from DOTT

How about... say, a serial killer obsessed with adventure genre? He would probably dress up as Zombie Pirate LeChuck or Purple Tentacle for his murders, like in Dario Argento's movies. Or, he would place his victims in rooms modeled after adventure game locations (like Edison family motel from DOTT or Mystery Vortex from Sam & Max) and give them puzzles, Saw-style. You could play as a detective or as a victim trying to escape.

BTW, there are already 10 finalists announced (and Bailey's game is among them)

Umm... A Stephen King adaptation? (Surprisingly, being as famous as he is, he has very few video game adaptations). I would pick themes from the novels linked to Dark Tower, like "From a Buick 8" or "Low Men in Yellow Coats", which focus more on mystery than on horror. Would be interesting to visit the "Manhattan Restaurant of the Mind" and travel between different worlds.

As for the visual style, could be something along the lines of "Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island": creepy but more lighthearted than the original novels, with the feel of Scooby-Doo style paranormal investigation.

Tim Schafer's team is starting a new Amnesia Fortnight: https://www.humblebundle.com/doublefine

My pick would be Eras of Adventure by Justin Bailey: a great idea, IMO, would be really sad it if doesn't get chosen. But there's plenty of other cool stuff as well

...check out Paul Trowe of Replay.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/12/13/the-messy-saga-of-replays-paul-trowe-as-al-lowe-quits/

The (openly gay and advocate of gay marriage) Trowe became the center of a scandal which involved sending gay sex video to an underage girl, and received a probation. As a result, Al Lowe and Josh Mandel left Replay.

Unfortunately, this means we won't see any more Larry installments (because, as we know from previous experience, Al-less Larry is no Larry at all). But I cannot blame Al for his decision, since Trowe had a long history of nasty behavior (like sabotaging fellow projects or writing spiteful comments about former colleagues). I just wish Al and Josh gave us some sort of a farewell gift before Al finally returns to retirement. Maybe an all-new independent single-installment game, like Torin's Passage. Because Al is capable of much more than just remaking his own old stuff.

Just in case someone's still interested... A line of Frekazoid characters in 8 bit:

And a perfect recreation of one of the show's best moments:

And let's not forget the surrealist stuff like Dada: Stagnation in Blue or Captain Muchly Drinks Bleach. Keptosh: The search for junc has quite depressing atmosphere, too.

No one is going to look at a placeholder webpage by some unknown team and go "Wooh! There aren't any screenshots or details about the game, but look at those LucasArts sprites! I do miss the good old days of adventure gaming. I just have to know who that mysterious silhouette is! I'll make sure to check this URL daily â€" nay, hourly! â€" until that blessed time comes when I'll be allowed to preorder!"

That's funny, you're speaking about me  But sadly, we have copyrights, so I have to agree with everyone else.

Do you think that this background is good to begin with in the first place?

I really dig the graphic style, but a location like this could be present in almost any sort of plot. Maybe something more unusual and distinctive?

I like how this looks.

I really hope his next game project will be an adaptation of "Study in Emerald", it feels really adventure game-ish to me ;)

Thanks for the great news  :)

IMO, it would be great to pitch that idea to Terry, but for this we would need more than we have now (at least a company name, a finished plot draft and some sketches). I'm still not sure this is going anywhere at all  :(

The thing is that Perfect Entertainment is dead for now, so legal threats may only come from sir Pratchett himself.

BTW, I wanted to know what you guys think about the idea of a Discworld/Illuminatus combo (check out the forums for details)

Well, surprisingly, we're still not completely dead.

(I personally think this is because Death is having a holiday, so we're sort of undead for now)

We have a couple of new sketches and plot ideas, you can check them out  :)

What I hate about religion is not jesus or the bible, what I hate is how religious people remain willfully ignorant, and how they get people killed over unfounded and superstitious beliefs.

Cough. Cough. There is a treatment for a genetic disorder, and LGBT groups oppose it because - oh my God! - this may turn the girl heterosexual instead of lesbian. Would it be better to let the girl live with the disorder, instead?

(sorry for digging up an old reply, btw)

So, let me clarify this... are you against Catholicism or against ANY beliefs in the non-material realm of reality, afterlife, etc.?
