The project is stagnating at the moment. I've contacted Purple Penguin and learned he was trying to contact other team members, but had no success. However, don't give up: there are no definite evidences of the project's cancellation (the website is still working, etc).

Not only dead. However, I make up topics only on little-known projects. If the fangame is well-known, there's no such need: usually there are loads of information around the Web.

I have heard rumblings of another (yes, one more! ) DOTT project located at this website: http://physics.ramapo.edu/~petmar/remake/ . However, all the links are dead, so I ask if anyone knows about that project. Hope I haven't bored the community with my MI and DOTT fanatism.

That's AWESOME! Unlike the first two games, the graphics look wonderful. The only idea I dislike is the first side view. By the way, does Palm Springs play any role in this game? And what's about references to classics (the usual stuff )?

I've recently contacted Marco Masini. That's what he told me about this project:
1) Case Gilbert is NOT abandoned. The project was stopped due to the legal worries, but now LucasArts doesn't own the rights to Sam and Max, so Mar85's team has re-opened it;
2) The game will be divided into 2 separate parts, but their release dates are still uncertain;
3) A new demoversion with new screens is planned, but it also doesn't have a definite release date.
Sorry for digging up this thread, but it's not forbidden in "Adventure-related talk and chat"; anyway, I can't find any reason to start a new topic instead of using that one.

Well, sounds interesting, but I think you should work on the graphics. To my opinion, they should reach a higher level than in the first game.
