The Rumpus Room / Re:Sam and Max Cancelled!
Thu 04/03/2004 09:48:49
My e-mail/response:

Dear Whomever it may concern,

Just now I've heard the bad news. I'm deeply saddened to learn LucasArts has decided to cancel, what may possibly have been one of the greatest, best selling games of the year: Sam & Max: Freelance Police. I find it very unfortunate your sales department has lost its faith in the adventure game genre and has become unwilling to release this particular one after the poor results of your other non Star Wars exploits (which were FPS games, I might add).

This e-mail may fall in a deaf man's ear, but I sincerely hope your company will reconsider its business strategies in the future, working in favor of creatively produced games instead of solely relying on the Star Wars franchise.

DG, where is here? Maybe I can ship you a crate of Oranjeboom!

Jaz, check my post one page back, we have very similar taste when it comes to beer (and games).

Congratulations on a simply wonderful game, with such delightfully sadistic humor. My kind of humor....

My favorite quote:

Oh my god! What have I done?
Just kidding! Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say.

I laughed out loud! :)

My kind of topic!

I drink Oranjeboom (Dutch) most often. Hertog Jan (Dutch) at home. If possible I like Stella Artois (Belgian).

The best beer I ever drank was either Pilsner Urquell or Gambrinus (botch Czech), can't decide.

Brand (Dutch) beer gives me a headache right away, but the worst beers I ever had are Millers and Budweiser (American).

I might have had other memorable beers, but the problem with memorable beer is you can't recall anything the day after. ;)

Ok, I've not been around here for a while, at least not posting.

But I want to offer my services as a background artist for a small 2-5 room project. My own game isn't working at all, so I'd like to help somebody else.

I looked, but I couldn't find the old 'Offer your services thread', just the ACR thread which works the other way round.

Is your name David Dunne?

Man, that's tough. Bronchitis twice and pneumonia in one year?

Increasing the strength of your immune system besides taking certain drugs can be achieved by:
- Relaxing. Stress increases your susceptibility to diseases and such.
- Sleep. Sleeping sufficiently long at the same hours won't just make you wealthy and wise, but healthy as well.
- Herbs. For example herbal teas containing Echinacea or Ginseng.
- Excercise. Sports and/or fitness do a lot of good.
- Eat. Eat healthily. Fruits or vegetables daily. Fish once a week doesn't hurt. Lots of protein. Avoid TV dinners and junk food when you can. Nuts and seeds are good once every while. "Unsaturated" is the word you're looking for in ingredient lists. Olive oil.

I wish you a speedy recovery and continuing health.

What's all this quiz talk? When did that happen?

Oh, and welcome! I like cheese as well.

We missen nog: Scid, Fruittree, Miez, N3TGraph, Def, Mennuz en wie weet hoeveel anderen.

I always did picture Yahtzee as looking a lot like Al Pacino.

I have a problem with the latest version. Sorry.  :-\

Why did you change the brightness of the stars below the platform? It's though you shaded them, which isn't really possible. It really was the first thing that struck me, when it popped up on my screen.

The brightness could be lower due to other light sources, for instance around those two lanterns, you might not be able to see stars as well. Just a thought.

I agree with Wanderlady, it's hard to comment knowing you're busting your own balls on this.

Anyway, what's bugging me is the platform itself. The front (far left) and the back (middle of the screen) of the platform don't run parallel, which they should in an isometric view.

Edit:
Man, it must be one of thos optical illusions thingamabobs. I checked it up close, and they definitely are parallel. Weird. I guess no comments then.

Shouldn't the waves move the other way?

Anyway, looks great! Are you gonna shade like the pirate?

I'm looking for a specific sound. That of a bar or cafe. You know, people chatting a lot, toasting to each others health and getting drunker by the minute.

Anyone have something like this or can recommend where to look for it?

Show me the way to the next whiskey bar.
Oh, don't ask why! Oh, don't ask why!
For if we don't find the next whiskey bar,
I tell you we must die, I tell you we must die.

Include this song with your opening or ending credits. It would almost be too appropriate.

First off, great sprites! I love this style, reminds me of Desktop Adventures, although I haven't actually played those.

Jabba: I agree with Xadhoom; it still needs an edit.
He really pegged the colours. But the eyes and especially the nostrils need work.
Check this out:

Luke (ROTJ style): His hood needs to be pointier.

Small suggestion, show his hands with his fingers together, if that kind of detail is possible.
Like so:

Also, the floor he's walking on has no thickness.

Wow, I didn't think anybody would remember. That about sums up my AGS achievements over the past year. And Flippy didn't even like it...

Hey, Flippy, if you have 32% done, that's not even so bad. I mean, you there a THIRD of the way. Keep it up!

Great teaser demo, but one thing; please tell me it's gonna be "It BELONGS in a museum" instead of the current "going in"!!!
