The easiest one I've found so far is Jamagic,  ClickTeam's 3D version of Multimedia Fusion.  That's more the direction I'm asking for.  Never Winter's great, but it might be a little too specific.

This might be confusing to members outside the United States, but the their are strict laws in place about exterior sources influencing an election during the election year.  The candidates themselves are allowed to say whatever they like, but beyond that, the idea is that citizens determine the who they want based on known works before they made a bid for the presidency.  Organizations like the press are, sadly still influenced, but they aren't supposed to be.  Disney plans to release the movie following the election.  Disney isn't an ethical company by any means, but there were actuall legal concerns about the release dates.

The fact that Mr. Moore was SOOOOOO violently angered by a fall release, as opposed to a spring release, makes me wonder if his "Documentary" is a little more biased then he would like people to believe.  If he made an "unbiased" film, why would he care about a 6 month posponement?

As much as I love AGS, (I'm deep into my own game), I love all forms of adventure games.  I was wondering if anyone knows of an engine similar to AGS that specializes in Zelda-type 3D adventure games where little-to-no programming is required.  Point & adventures remain pretty unchanged in their transition to 3D, but it's hard to be nostalgic about "cosole-style" adventure games when their 3D counterparts are so much better.

Please Help!!!!

I have Cinema 4D, so anything that supports 3DS Max or Maya files will work.

AGS should definitely stay 2D.  Adventure games NEVER fare well in the 3D arena.  Current games like the Nancy Drew series, Sherlock Holmes: Mystery of the Mummy, & Asylum use the 3D images, but are still in the 2D game plane.  AGS already supports this

You could, probably, get close to the results you're looking for if future versions of AGS simply supported raster layers such as psd's or psp's:  Walk-Behinds would be "pixel perfect",  full lighting & transparency benefits of rasters,  different layers could scroll at different speeds, characters and items would be flawlessly blended to their backdrop and entire regions of the background could be animating constantly.  Rasters are really the only difference AGS  has to current high-end engines commercial companys are designing.

NEVER FORGET KING'S QUEST 8 - THE GAME KEN AND ROBERTA WILLIAMS MADE AFTER PLAYING SUPER MARIO 64!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's an interesting simple way to defend your argument?  Care to elaborate?  In online BG your given a wide variety of goals, that any one member could pick.  You don't have to stick together, you solve simple puzzles, and can have any number of villians and/or heroes.  So H-O-W would it be different?

P.S.  Don't bother responding if you were just trying to be an elitist on a site dedicated to the fact that you don't have to be elite for interactive entertainment development.

Isn't that just be the Baldur's Gate Series with combat replaced with looking under rocks??

How many times have you seen a game in production and said WOW! That goes in my watch list?  Six months later......Nothing!!!  Is it dead? Who knows

I want to start a thread of all games being actively produced at this moment.  Preferably, annoucements no one's heard from in a while.  No screenshots, just the title, (people know what they're waiting for); general completion level, (no one cares how many GUI's are finished); and the projected street date.

I'll start,

"Rogue Saga/ 25% complete/ Late Summer"

Don't leave anyone in the dark -- If you're game is dead, no need to respond unless you're so inclined.  If this thread is successfull, we can assume your game is dead simply by not seeing it here.

Given this is the second time this has happend.....

This particular question would probably be considered as general discussion, but you could get away with it in critics lounge, (questions like these are there all the time).

P.S.  Paint Shop Pro 8 is, by far, the easiest and most flexible 2D image software available.

Try adding a mountain or some trees in the background.  A lot of "noise" in the deep background gives the illusion that a lot is going on.  Also if you want to take the time, making the clouds drift slowly across the horizon or the tire swing swaying can be a good idea, (people's eyes are unconciously drawn to movement, and will keep looking to it - pulling their eyes away from empty areas.)

Be careful when chopping the chapters.  Sometimes people lose the arc of the plot when they take a month long break from the story.

I would say that if you're worried about download speeds, split the game into 2 - 3 chapters and release them all at once.

Let me be more Specific than that.  I saw screenshots for Gaurd Duty, and by all means, keep working with PSP 8, but your art and story are excellent.  I'm really looking forward to it!!!

No Cut & Paste......Sort've.

-For the Totems in Pic 1:

I used PSP 8 animal picture tubes, removed their heads, and added the topography effect to make them look more 3D.  After that I drew an orange sphere, and altered the geometric effects untill I got the shape I wanted.  The animals were sliced in half and placed on seperate layers sandwiching the shape, (it looked as if the animals were carved from the shape).  After that I merged the image, rubbed it together, and added wood textures and lighting effects.

Whew!!!  I know that sounds long winded but it's easy once you get to know it.  I can't draw with ANY writing utensil to save my life.  I always tell people paint shop is all math.   For me & a lot of people on this forum, they can code better than they could ever draw.

Thanks for the support.  Good Luck on your own game!!

Hey, Thanks for the support.

Everything in the screenshots are done using Paint Shop Pro 8 without rips.  It has the ability to produce very 3D-looking sprites.  I recommend this software to anyone with the means to get it.

AGS Games in Production / Rogue Saga

I'm generally a private person, and I wasn't even going to post my game untill it was finished.  However, these forums have helped me incredibly, and I love being part of the AGS community.

The game is called Rogue Saga.  It is scheduled for summer.  The best way to describe it is American Fantasy.   The story is this...................

The frost comes early to the Northern Lands.  The people of the mountains came down into the Borderlands in search of food.  When the farmers had no resources to share,  they killed for it.  The migrants actions were so hideous, their forms became twisted untill their bodies reflected their nature.  You play Shepard, a templar in the capital city.  Your brother is fighting in the borderlands.  The army has requested more aid, and the templars decide to send someone to determine the situation.  You were not chosen, but, of course, you have to go.........

That's where it starts.  You must find a way to replace the templar who's leaving because you're worried about your brother.

I don't know which of the latter two I'd pick.  Sorry, but They're both excellent.

Thanks for taking the time to continue the standards of AGS!!!!!!

Keep it up.

Do more than use the Paint Shop 8 Presets.  I own it too, and I know it seems as if you'll never use every preset, trust me, every image will look the same.

Shapes are great, don't get me wrong, build the image with shapes, then apply textures, patterns, lighting, scripts, etc.  The best part about PSP is you never run out of things to do with you're image.

I would say don't even bother with creating an image untill you've put you're pic through at least 75% of the filters.  Keep in mind that Paint Shop is less about drawing, and more about math.

I drew this image in a couple of hours beginning entirely with Paint Shop preset shapes.

What on earth is Alpha Blending?

I've been working with computer art a lot recently, and I hear this term occasionally.  What is it.

Thanks, that worked perfectly

Thanks, but what I mean is..............

In king's quest VGA
When you click on the interact icon, a white dot appears where the point of action.

In your inventory, the item doesn't have a white dot.
When you click on the item, the white dot representing the point of action appears.

I hope that's more specific

How do I show the point where my Icon functions with a hotspot on the screen.  Old games used to do it, and the King's Quest remakes managed it.

The point doesn't appear until the player selects it.
