What is a Photoshop Phriday?

See this link:
http://www.somethingawful.com/photoshop/

And for other examples, see here:
http://www.worth1000.com/

The two above websites should give a fair idea of what is involved.

Note: Photoshopping isn't drawing a completely new image -- It's editing images to create a new image, such as editing one image or combining several images.

Also, you don't have to specifically use Photoshop -- Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, or any other programs can be used.

-------------------------------------

What do I have to do?

This week's Photoshop Phriday is this: "Finding Emo"

This one was suggested by Las Naranjas -- and it sounds like a goodie.

I'm bending the rules a little, as you can do one of two things:

a) Photoshop an Emo pic, as above with my "Finding Emo" pic.

b) Post a pic of yourself dressed Emo, such as the following:

Oh, that is a pretty sight!

If you don't know what Emo is, do some research.

Then again, just take a look at these links:

http://www.sykospark.net/emo/appearance.html
http://www.sykospark.net/emo/idiotic.gif

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Emo

And the wicked Emo game: http://www.emogame.com/

(also, try listening to any Dashboard Confessional songs without sniggering)

Enjoy!

Note: No Emos were harmed during the making of this Photoshop Phriday. Although, a goth committed suicide and a teenybopper tripped and smashed her head after bouncing to some Ja-Rule.

I think I forgot to change the date on last week's PP -- No matter, cause here's a new one!

What do I have to do?

This week's Photoshop Phriday is this: "The Adventures of Guybrush and Indy"

Some of you probably saw my wacky comic that partially inspired the downfall of the General forum:

Now, it's your turn!

Simply make a comic that shows the hilarious exploits of a tough-as-nails archeologist and his wacky pirate companion!

For this, you'll need the main characters:

The rest is up to your imagination!

Side note: I'm also thinking of entering the lucrative market of WEBCOMICS!

If I go ahead with it, I'll also set up a GUEST PAGE and use some of the really good comics designed here.

Thank you and let you mind run wild like a streaker on the field during your favourite sporting event!

EDIT: Also, make sure your entries don't stretch past 700 pixels or else it's going to cause probs with reading this post.

Hi there!

I made a game called Dada: Stagnation In Blue (it's a shortie):
http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~hooks/Dada.zip

Mirrors:
Dave Gilbert's Super-Cool mirror
Butt-ugly Tripod mirror

It's currently at version 1.1.

A warning though -- do not play it if at work, school or you get depressed easily, because this game is very unsettling in parts.

And don't let children play it either.

Thank you.

veryweirdguy -- the mirror you posted now doesn't work for some reason.  :-\

What do I have to do?

This week's Photoshop Phriday is this: "Books Written By AGSers"

An easy one -- design a book written by any AGSer except yourself.

The title can be truthful or ironic and the book style can be anything from a novel, DIY, children's, autobiography, etc, etc, etc

For example:

Not only that, but Oswald was a CAMMP1NG FARG0t!!!

What do I have to do?

This week's Photoshop Phriday is this: "Freestyle!!!!"

Last weeks's Photoshop Phriday was a little constrictive (on a count of there being only ONE photograph of Eric's face on this forum).

This week, I provide the antithesis: Freestyle photoshopping!

That's right -- photoshop any zany, wacky, or oddball image that comes to mind.

It can be AGS related or non-AGS related.

Here is your chance to show off your 1337 |>|-|0705|-|0|>
5|<|11z!!!11!!

I think it was this image from Trapazoid that inspired me to do a freestyle!

So fool around and make the most wacked-out image you can!

What do I have to do?

This week's Photoshop Phriday is this: "Eric Feurstein's Excellent Adventure"

We all know Eric is a time traveller.

The problem is he has seriously disturbed the space-time continuum.

Now all famous pictures in the history books have Eric in them.

I need everyone to search their encyclopedias and periodicals to find exactly where Eric has been.

Hopefully, we can send some Time Police to trace Eric's steps, arrest him and end his wacky shenanigans.

I found this image to start the investigation:

EDIT: I just realised something -- if you dress Eric in red and white stripes and give him a cane, it's just like 'Where's Wally'!

What do I have to do?

This week's Photoshop Phriday is this: "AGS Tabloids"

On the surface, many AGSers appear normal (LOL! Can't believe I wrote that!)

Ahem!

However, most of us do not know the REAL stories behind all these AGSers.

This week, you must construct an tabloid newspaper-style image featuring an AGSer.

To do this, simply follow these steps:

1) Load Google and click on images -- search for 'tabloid'

2) Choose an image and edit it so it's about an AGSer

3) Add a new headline if you want and Bob's your Auntie's batchild lesbian sister-in-law.

Here's a quick ditty I made on my girlfriend's laptop using minimal editing software and an image about a pregnant male:

It's that easy!

Use your creative skills to demonstrate the numerous freaky six-armed AGSers, or AGSers involved in sex-scandals with celebrities, etc, etc.

What do I have to do?

This week's Photoshop Phriday is this: "When Mittens Goes Wrong"

We all saw the photos from last year's Mittens.

We saw how much fun everyone had.

But what about the photos we didn't see?

Yeap, catastrophe strikes everywhere like Batman does -- Naturally, things are going to go wrong at Mittens.

This week, your task is to edit a photograph to include a Mittens-related catastrophe.

They can be simple:

AGA forgets to buckle-up on the rollercoaster.

Or they can be a little more complex:

The AGS soccer game gets interrupted by a close encounter

It's that easy -- just add, edit, or combine any oddities into a Mitten's photograph to show what happens when Mittens goes wrong.

To find images, just head over to Magintz' page o' fun (Planet Magintz):
http://www.magintz.realbadidea.com/mittens.html

There were some other photos on the Screen 7 page but, as you may know, AD is down -- maybe Mods or someone from Screen 7 has a spare copy of them somewhere and could post a link here?

Have fun and remember -- Be excellent to one another and party on dudes!  8)

EDIT: Thank you for the photo additions, AGA!!!

What do I have to do?

Today's Photoshop Phriday is this: "AGS Film Adaptations"

Let's face it -- The Super Mario Brothers movie sucked!

So did Double Dragon -- peee-yew!

Mortal Kombat -- pfhhht!

Tomb Raider -- Yeah right!

You know why they suck?

Those games have nothing to do with AGS! (Of course...)

However, I spoke to Oscar-winning director Ron Howard the other day (He and I are good buddies from way back) and he was looking for ideas for his next project: a movie based on an AGS game.

This is where you guys come in -- you need to design the best movie poster ever to give Ron ideas for an AGS movie.

The poster needs to be based on an AGS game (obviously), however, you can design the poster in any way you want and cast the film with whoever you want.

For example:

It's that easy!

So, design your posters and help Ron make his movie!

You could be the one who inspires the next Oscar-winning film.

Then again, maybe I just made up all that stuff about knowing Ron Howard.

;D ;D ;D

Hi there everyone,

I decided to do a test on the amount of productivity in the forum.

Lately, there has been some discussion on the amount of forum postings.

So I decided to have a look at the amount of games released to see if people are spending time making games or just posting.

The results are interesting:

Month -- No. of Games

June 2003 -- 7
May -- 9
April -- 7
March -- 22
Feb -- 15
Jan -- 11
Dec 2002 -- 13
Nov -- 6
Oct -- 9
Sept -- 16
Aug -- 8
Jul -- 13

This includes all full games and experiement interfaces.

It does not include demos as the rules changed in the Announcement forum to send demos to the Games in Production forum.

As shown, the productivity has dropped in the last few months.

However, I'm very interested to see the surge of games in March and then see the drop in April.

Anyone have any theories as to why this happened -- was something happening that aided productivity?

Maybe if we find out why people were so active in March, we can replicate that.

I would do a better measure of my stats, but I have limited time to do so (and it's late at night and I'm sleepy).

Check out the 'entry stats' section.

I'm very happy about this!  ;D

I also have some other stories around the place -- have a search for them.

What do I have to do?

Today's Photoshop Phriday is this: "AGS Classic Art"

We've seen many artists creating famous paintings and sculptures over the last few centuries: Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Matisse, etc.

You know what though?

All their artwork sucks -- they have nothing to do with AGS Games.

But we can fix that!  ;D

All you have to do is grab a famous piece of art and edit it to include elements from an AGS Game.

For example:

Easy as that!

Enjoy, all you budding Jasper Johns!

Listened to the single 'There There' -- sounds damn cool.

Edit: Just listened to Sail to the Moon -- very beautiful -- I'm definately buying it!

What do I have to do?

Today's Photoshop Phriday is this: "Holy Adventure Games, Batman!"

Secretly, we know Chris has a secret Batcave below his office -- just none of us choose to mention it, as we all have our own secret identities.

Your mission is to photoshop another AGSer dressed as a famous superhero (or super villian). [EDIT: AGS game characters are allowed, unless they're already superheros, like Fatman, cause that would be stupid!]

Here's the famous picture post where you can find all  those potential Clark Kents, Bruce Waynes, and Peter Parkers:
http://www.agsforums.com/yabb/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=2310

And just to give you an example:

BUTCHER SMASH PUNY HUMANS!!!!

Hey guys,

I need a favour.

Remember that episode of South Park where it had Russell Crowe's TV show "Fightin' 'Round The World"?

If anyone know there whereabouts of some WAV or MP3 files from that episode, could you post the links here.

I need them for a Uni assignment.

Muchly appreciated!

What do I have to do?

Today's Photoshop Phriday is this: "AGS (Adventure Game Spyware)"

We know why Chris Jones REALLY made AGS.

Spyware!!

Right now, as you're making your adventure game, Chris is downloading all your credit card information, e-mail address books, and all those folders of porn you have hidden.

This week's Phirday is very simplie:

1) Load AGS (or download a copy if, heaven forbid, you haven't got one yet)

2) Take a screenshot of any part of AGS (Character editor, dialogue scripts, plug-ins, etc)

3) Edit it to include spyware components (or hints of spyware).

For example, a Bonzai Buddy plug-in (probably the most obvious example).

Enjoy, amigos!!

What do I have to do?

Today's Photoshop Phriday is this: "Super Mega Hyper Lucky AGS Fighter III - Turbo Edition"

This Phriday is inspired by the previous Phriday -- It's very simple.

1. Pick two characters from any AGS games.

2. Pit them against each other.

3. Show who the winner is (If you want, you can include a fatality move or something)

Something like Rob Blanc vs Larry Vales, or King Graham VGA vs Little Johnny Evil.

Be excellent to one another and party on dudes!

General Discussion / Stand Up Comedy
Fri 16/05/2003 07:04:03
I'm doing a stand-up comedy thingy at a comedy bar in Brisbane tonight.

I'm not really shitting my pants yet, but I imagine I will when the time comes closer -- it's about 3 hours away!

I'll tell you how it goes.

What do I have to do?

Today's Photoshop Phriday is this: "Dude, Where's My Genre?"

To quote from the Full Throttle 2 post in the General Forum:

GarageGothic:
QuoteImagine "Loom 2" as a cutesy PS2 platform game with Bobbin jumping around, shooting musical notes from his stick - Harry Potter-style. Or how about "Maniac Sims" where you take control of the Edison household and get the chance to purchase a bigger nuclear reactor for the basement, breed tentacles and, of course, take care of trespassing kids.

scotch:
QuoteSounds like a good Photoshop Phriday idea

Indeed!

In the style of the upcoming arcade/adventure Full Throttle 2 game, your Phriday this week is to combine any adventure (AGS or commerical) with a game in a different genre.

GG's above examples are good ideas.

Others example off the top of my head: Daytona of the Tentacle, Mario and Luigi Hit The Road, etc, etc.

Thank you and good luck to you all!
