DG was trying to "poke-in-the-eye" the "pro-US". Now, DM is counter-attacking. The "battle" can be thrilling  .

Everybody thought DG post about the UN was funny and smart... Now, DM does something similar, but in the opposite direction, and he´s a cunt.

Like I said, I don't see what everyone is whining about with the whole DM post -- I figured they'd have read it anyway (It's even passed my inbox twice in the last six months)

Besides, there's far more damning pro-war stuff on the net where people aren't joking.

There are tons of jokes, both pro and con the war -- I saw Letterman say something like "The US Government managed to restore decent sanitation and garbage removal in Iraq. If only they could do the same here at home."

What is a Photoshop Phriday?

Photoshopping isn't drawing a completely new image -- It's editing images to create a new image, such as editing one image or combining several images.

Also, you don't have to specifically use Photoshop -- Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, or any other programs can be used.

This week's Photoshop Phriday is: "Where's Waldo?"

Excuse my lateness, but I "feel asleep" last night and forgot about the PP.

Anyway, just simple grab a pic from an adventure game and put Waldo/Wally (that dude from the books with the glasses, cane, and red & white clothing) in it.

Try to hide him well.

I also hate it when people put all their name in lower case -- Pfft losers, let's make them pass the test, then ban them imediately!  

DG, bodyguards don't always help, but I'm quite sure a pair of bodyguards could stop one man with a knife. Again, why take an unnecessary risk and travel without one?

If that's the case, then I will hire some bodyguards for myself tomorrow.

You never know when someone will come stab me while I'm out to get the newspaper, or going to buy some milk at the shops.

In fact, Uni has been pretty dangerous of late, what with all those other students around, so I'll take my bodyguards with me too.

Also, to add to SSH's response, there's hardly any crime in Sweden, compared to most countries around the world.

I dunno, you don't want forum games, you don't want intelligent discussion, you don't want people who haven't finished a game demanding respect.... what do you want?

But I do want intelligent discussion -- you misunderstand what I'm saying.

What that quote means is I'd rather forget about trying to bring intelligent discussion here if it's going to lead to (as Andail says) a two-sided biased deabte.

And to clairfy your two other points:
1. Yes, I think those word games are a waste of time (for reasons I've just stated in the 'word game' thread)

2. I'm not just talking about finishing games -- I'm talking about contribution to a game.

In other words, how can users take someone seriously when they contribute nothing to a game?

For example, to my knowledge, c_leks hasn't made a game, yet he's contributed voice works and music to some games.

After all, this IS a forum on making adventure games, right?

But to give you an idea of what I mean on intelligent discussion, I liked topics like 'Homestar Runner: Too popular?' or 'the SARS-virus will blossom man...' or 'Meet and greet ffs!' -- They had some value to them other than the cheap thrill you get from a word game or the endless banter you get from a biased debate (Mainly cause debates like this one are turning out to be a "You're wrong" "No, you're wrong!" deal, while the previously mentions topics allow room for some kind of expansion of ideas and discussion).

Now, I'm with you, DG. I find word-association and continue-the-sentences threads as boring as hell. But I've always dealt with that by simply ignoring those threads. The way I see it, I dislike the threads, but there are other people here who don't dislike them (as can be seen by the number of unique users who participated in the word-association thread). And if they like to post in those threads, then... it's no skin off my nose. I can just continue to ignore the thread, as always.

So I'd like to make my own request (again) here to everybody. If you, as a user, or a group of users, dislike a particular type of thread, would it be possible for you to just ignore it and let others have their fun? Is it really so irritating to you that this type of thread exists on the board, when you can simply choose not to read it?

As Chris later stated, there's no problems with bandwidth, so I guess there's no reason to complain -- I only did it cause it seemed like the recent words and story games here were bit of failures (the word game was locked and the Yarn game was over by the second post).

Normally people start them cause they're bored, even though there are plenty of websites that cater to this kind of thing.

But if people find them fun, who am I to argue?

No, you were fine, and so was Chris when he posted in the thread. It was a sensible and fun thread then... but when 5 posts in a row are different variations of the word penish or something else quite as stupid, the thread gets lame.

Well, there's also the fact that Talk Like A Pirate Day is an actual upccoming event and a word game isn't.

Also, the fact that talking like a pirate is Monkey Island related and word games aren't really related to Monkey Island (I can't remember if there was a word game in Monkey Island, but I don't think so, unless someone can tell me.)

And that Talking Like A Pirate also relates directly to one of our members, Pesty, who regularly talks like a pirate.

Look, everybody -- I didn't want to tread on people's toes.

I'm just alerting people to something that pisses off others before they cause a riot, like when kikme started a crapload of posts on word games.

I'm just bringing these things to attention before they turn into bigger problems.

Well, you did start the debate, DG, I don't think you can complain when people differ from your point of view. Also, given the number of lives and deaths involved, its fair enough for people to get angry about it all, too.

I didn't start any debate.

I started this post to bring back certain things people said before the war with the purpose of comparing them to what's happening now -- no real want of debate at all.

I don't like participating in debates cause I usually spend too much time writing endless garbage that won't really make a difference -- I'm never going to convince my opposition, as much as he isn't going to convince me of anything.

So, when a debate comes up, and I feel heated about it, I try to end it.

I do not have the time nor energy to try and win arguments all the time.

And I'm especially tired of replying to taryuu (or whoever it is) just because he doesn't like a particular aspect of my post -- to be honest, it's a pain in the arse.

I'd rather not start any thread that tries to bring some intelligent discussion to the forum.

So, to resolve the issue, he wins, and I don't care.
