Hey guys,

I need a favour.

Remember that episode of South Park where it had Russell Crowe's TV show "Fightin' 'Round The World"?

If anyone know there whereabouts of some WAV or MP3 files from that episode, could you post the links here.

I need them for a Uni assignment.

Muchly appreciated!

Shattered Sponge: Wasn't Cameron also going to do a live action Akira, but the deal fell through?

I think there's a distinction between porn and erotica.

Porn is basically very explict, exploitive, and used only for purposes of gratification.

Erotica, on the other hand, serves more of contribution to narrative.

I use Seasons of Sakura as an example (Yes, I'm bringing up that bloody game again).

What differs between this game and other "hentai" games is that the few sex scene within the game contribute to the story.

For example, the scene where your teacher "teaches" you about sex serves as a turning point in the story -- Your character matures at this point and begins to see things differently.

I use this example in juxtaposition to other hentai games because the other games seem to be a series of overly-gratuitous sex scenes connected with a waffer thin plot.

It's similar to comparing "Blue Velvet" to "Debbie Does Dallas" -- The former is an erotic drama, and the latter is porn.

I'm okay with erotic games, but pornographic games are quite pointless.

First off all, it wasn't Morgan Freeman or SL Jackson in The Matrix!!!

It was Sidney Poitier!!!

Secondly, Star Wars had it's merits and fallbacks.

It was fun film and it revitalised Hollywood's economy.

However, it destroyed quality filmmaking -- especially sci-fi as Las pointed out.

Once producers found that you could make millions from a goodies vs baddies blockbuster (or "comic book movie" to borrow a term from WIlliam Goldman), they all jumped a carriage on the money train.

Before that, you had butt-kicking sci-fi films.

Especially Lucas's earlier works like THX-1138.

What about other intelligent or socially important films like 2001: ASO, Planet of the Apes, A Clockwork Orange, The Andromeda Strain, or Invasion of the Body Snatchers?

In fact, go several decades in the past and you'll find one of the greatest sci-fi gems ever: Metropolis.

Did Star Wars do anything great for sci-fi?

Not really -- It did more for "blockbuster" movies.

But back on topic, does the Matrix do anything good for sci-fi?

My opinion: Yes -- But it's a very small step in the right direction.

Incidently, speaking of sci-fi, blockbusters, etc --Narangas, we were talking about NGE earlier in this thread and I found out they're making a live action Eva movie.

I'm very disappointed -- Hollywood just can't leave anything sacred.

Actually, this reminds me of a story, and it's 100% TRUE too:

A friend of mine from high school who was this complete stoner and drunk had a visit from some Jehovah's Witnesses. So, he feels like a bit of fun and invites them in. They're going through the whole routine with that pamphlets and everything. He there nodding his head going, "Oh yeah? Wow! That sounds interesting!"

They continue on for 2 minutes when he flicks to a page on the pamphlet with one of those pictures of everything looking serene for heaven: A happy family dressed nicely, standing in a garden with a couple of animals like rabbits, squirrels, tigers, and pandas. Everything looking very happy in heaven. He pipes up, "Hey, how come the pandas don't get eaten by the tigers?" THe JWs reply that it's heaven and no one gets eaten there. "Come on! Tigers get hungry no matter where they are! You'd think they'd probably even eat one of the squirrels! You can't fight animal nature, even in heaven!" By the JWs reply saying it's heaven and nothing bad happens.

He nods for a second then asks the JWs to excuse him for a minute, there's something he has to do. They nods saying it's okay. He slowly starts taking off all his clothing. The JWs just look at one another while he strips down nicky-nude. He sits back on his couch and reclines in the nuddy. He looks at botht he JWs and says, "Don't worry! I do this all the time!"

The JWs just look at each other again and go, "Sorry, we have to go! Bye!" And they leave.

When he told me this, I thought it was the most beautiful story ever!

What is a Photoshop Phriday?

See this link:
http://www.somethingawful.com/photoshop/

And for other examples, see here:
http://www.worth1000.com/

The two above websites should give a fair idea of what is involved.
-------------------------
What do I have to do?

Today's Photoshop Phriday is this: "AGS (Adventure Game Spyware)"

We know why Chris Jones REALLY made AGS.

Spyware!!

Right now, as you're making your adventure game, Chris is downloading all your credit card information, e-mail address books, and all those folders of porn you have hidden.

This week's Phirday is very simplie:

1) Load AGS (or download a copy if, heaven forbid, you haven't got one yet)

2) Take a screenshot of any part of AGS (Character editor, dialogue scripts, plug-ins, etc)

3) Edit it to include spyware components (or hints of spyware).

For example, a Bonzai Buddy plug-in (probably the most obvious example).

Enjoy, amigos!!

More on the Wachowski-Bondage Lover situation from IMDB...

Wachowski Courts Trouble

A Los Angeles judge has frozen the assets of Matrix Reloaded co-director Larry Wachowski. After reports Wachowski left his wife Thea Bloom for professional dominatrix, Ilsa Stix, his wife has gone to court in an effort to stop Wachowski giving away money. In a court filing Bloom claims, "Larry was been extremely dishonest with me in our personal life, and I believe he is hiding information from me regarding our financial affairs." Though she does not mention the dominatrix, Bloom does say, "Our decision to separate was a mutual one, made in July 2002, based on very intimate circumstances, concerning which I do not elaborate at this time for reasons of his personal privacy." Larry's lawyer declined comment.

No wonder most of the characters in the film wear leather and latex.

I forgot we hada merge button on the forum, so I'll merge the two topics together thread.

However, this has happened twice so far, so I'm going to clearly label the other thread.

In future, please post all matrix stuff here.

I'm not a big fan of polls.

They don't serve any major purpose.

If you want someone's opinion, just start a new post and people can answer in any way they want to without conforming to a pre-defined set of answers.

Thank you.

Hal Ashby

Won an Oscar for editing In The Heat of The Night and then turned to directing.

Made some of the best films of the 70s -- Harold and Maude, The Last Detail (my fav), Shampoo, Bound for Glory, Coming Home (for which he was Oscar Nom'ed), and Being There.

Then he died in the 80s -- both literally and film-wise.
