Legally, it's fine to parody something under fair use in US Law. Wiki has a good example with : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use#Fair_use_and_parody

Music is also counted as part of the parody fair use. The above link lists the "Oh, Pretty Woman" example, and here's a link to the case details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Campbell_v._Acuff-Rose_Music

Even though it was based off a board game, the satire was still present in the film, and there is no way you can say it wasn't there. In fact, it is my knowledge of politics that allowed me to find the political satire thrown into Clue actually funny.

I'm glad you found a movie funny. I really am. However, quoting lines from a movie doesn't suddenly make you Professor Genius from WhoopdieDoo University. And it sure doesn't give you the necessary background for explaining how the UN works. Granted if you posted something like your political science degree, or maybe quote a few news articles, perhaps I would have shown a slight interest in what you've got to say.

But since you quoted lines from a wacky 80s comedy movie to demonstrate your case against the UN, anything you say is now suspect and dubious.

Kinoko: It kinda looks like a penguin with throat cancer, but I've never seen one of those in any anime I've seen.

Darth: Mayhew played Chewbacca. He's actually hairier in real-life.

And that is indeed the right Chris Sabat. I've never watched an episode of Dragonball Z in my life, so at first I had no idea who he was. But the dude was classy. Way better than Mayhew.

And cosplaying is a dress-up that people do. Mainly anime fans do it. Here's probably one of the most disturbing examples (though I'm sure there are plenty more):

Children's Games are better than schooling!!  I've always known I can solve the world's hunger problems because of my years and years of playing 'Hungry Hungry Hippos'.

Together we can solve all health care policy with our knowledge of Operation!

I'm a little freaked out from the last one after all those cosplayers. I'm still trying to figure out what the hell this is:

It doesn't look like anything!

Also, Peter Mayhew can kiss my bollocks! $40 for an autograph! Bah! He played a shaggy doormat in Star Wars! I'm not going to pay $40 for an autograph from some guy who spent a movie groaning in a costume!

Chris Sabat, on the other hand, was a champion. Class act all the way.

Yeah, I base all my political assumptions on movies based on board games too.

Wait until you hear what I think of the Sudan civil war based upon my knowledge of Jumanji!

What I'm saying Sutebi is you have no idea how politics work, having based everything you know on a mythical land of magic and fairies. Go back to playing Snake'n'Ladders, cause I really think you're out of your depth here!

Freedom Fries were more or less a joke, nobody really called them that, and it was a governmental decree like I get the impression that you're alluding to in your post. It was just some guys having fun.

I mean, they said the same thing about French Toast, also in jest, but nobody called it Freedom Toast. It was all fooling around. People knew that French Toast had nothing to do with the French, it was named after the man who invented it: Dr. Toast.

From my memory, there was a lot of animosity towards the French during the Iraq war and the whole "freedom" thing was the result of such animosity, even if it was a joke. And even if it was a joke, it was still arrogant.

How civil was it? Any major controversy or was everyone just chilling out?

I'm glad the American government asked our government to join the team! It was so nice of them to ask! Granted, there're fears we've become a bigger terrorsit target (ala the Jakarta bombing of our embassy), much like Spain, but hey it was sure nice of the Bush Administration to offer the invitation!

And say what you want about the French being snooty, but I think it's far more arrogant to rename your chips to "Freedom Fries" in retaliation to a country of snooty people who don't want to be a part of a stupid war led by a stupid man.

Eveyone else only hates Republicans, but for the same reasons.

I wouldn't say everyone only hates republicans (I could name a few good ones). It's just the current administration that's giving republicans a very bad name (even more so than usual).

But it's Adobe! I'm sure that if they put their collective minds to it, they could make a superior product. I haven't tried out Audition yet, but I'm sure that Adobe would've made a better product than a smaller company like Syntrillium. :)

I'm sure they could too. But that's a risk. And they have to develop it too, and that costs money.

I'm sure Adobe worked out which was the more profitable option. And you can't really fault them for that. After all, Adobe employees have got to eat.

This is OT, but I really wish all of the people preaching that all Americans need to die on the streets of Middle-Eastern countries knew that. I wonder sometimes if they realize that a good portion of Americans feel the same way they do about our government.

EDIT:
Except that we're infidels and need to die.

It's a difficult situation since they've been subject to an invasion by a foreign government. It happens with most occupations. And a lot of Americans can say, "I wish they wouldn't preach death to us all" but a lot of Americans haven't had their houses bombed and family members killed by an invading Iraqi force. But I agree, though, that there should be more blame on the administration rather than the population as a whole. After all, most Americans were misled by their own government. And more Americans are realising this as each day passes. And I do hope all Iraqis come to realise this one day as well.

I also remember during both the Afghanistan War and the Iraqi War there were a lot of Americans who wanted both countries nuked without understanding the reasons behind both invasions. It's pretty much the same as Iraqi's taking to the streets and shouting "Death to infidels!"

I know, I know, I was only joking around. But think about it...Adobe wants to release an audio editing program. Basically, instead of making one themselves (like they did with Photoshop, and a fine job they did too), they buy another company's program, and the company along with it. :P Not a bad deal. ;)

But that's the thing: why bother going to the trouble of developing audio software that'll possibly be mediocore compared to CoolEdit, when instead you have the chance to buy CoolEdit?

QuoteHmm. More and more, we're seeing small time companies being eaten up by the big boys. Snytrillium was devored by Adobe.

They weren't "devored". Syntrilllium happily agreed to join Adobe.

As proof, Bob Ellison, president of Syntrillium, didn't express much sadness about being "devored" when he said:

"Cool Edit Pro has won recognition across the music and video industries, and by teaming up with Adobe we will be able to bring this complete multi-track recording application to an expanded set of customers. Introducing Cool Edit Pro into the Adobe family is great news for our customers, who will benefit from the company's complementary product line and commitment to delivering high quality products."

Adobe acquired Syntrillium without any grudge. And why should there be a grudge? The deal was just as good for Syntrillium as it was for Adobe.

I've also heard it's going to be replayed in theatres. Coincidentally, just before the election.

Also, Moore wants to get the film broadcast on TV before the election. His distribution company (I think it's Columbia) isn't agreeing so far, and I doubt they will either.

I also liked the film a lot.
