Perhaps leave it for a bit.

I'm gonna be tackling the same problem soon. I'll let you know what I come up with (wont be for a week or two I'm busy with something else at the moment). I cant promise I'll find a neat solution but it might help you. There are plenty of more experienced people with AGS out there so I have to think this issue has come up before.

Try searching the forums for some ideas I used 'walking turn' and found a couple.

EDIT: Maybe use cDummy.on=false when not using cDummy, then cDummy.on=true when using it(you would also have to set the location and loop of cDummy to the same as cEgo before sending it). Good luck.

Updated main post with progress.

If anyone knows of a good library for creating a flowchart in Visual Basic please PM me (I'm worried about Darth's blood pressure). See previous post for reasons.

Meanwhile an establishing shot Ive just finished (its my favorite so far).

Im wondering if the second word is Pirate, the line

QuoteWhat does a sailor do that defines him in the popular imagination?

makes me think of something along the lines of 'Hello Sailor!'. But I cannot think of how that would apply.

EDIT: unless its (bit rude)

But that cannot be it! Its probably something to do with drinking.

You can speed up cDummy's walkspeed, but it will delay cEgo though not by anything noticeable. I suggest doing a few tests to see if this works for your problem.

The only way I can think of doing this is have a cDummy character (no sprites just blank loops). You would send this character first and record when it changes loop and the xy coordinates of where it happens, you could then send cEgo along the same route and do your turn animation at the xy. Im working on something to do this automatically but its not a priority for me at the moment. Hopefully someone of more experience creating games with AGS already has a solution.

Kind of game related, its to speed up creation of puzzles. I have a puzzle system thats a mutated state machine (for those of a programing ilk). I'm working on a tool that will convert flowcharts (or dependency charts) into the code, the theory being it will be easier than doing it manually. If anyones interested PM me for a rough 'proof of concept' game that illustrates the puzzle system (no documentation just a flowchart and the source code for the game). Sorry if slightly off topic Darth.

Cassiebsg: I agree voice acting would be the ideal, but I would have to find someone who has the right voice, understands delivery and will work for free. I would do it myself but I have a broad Yorkshire accent. After the demo is done I'll start an audition process but its unlikely anyone would fit my tough requirements (though I may be pleasantly surprised).

All: Demo pushed back to end of November as I need to work on a development tool. EDIT: Not all bad news as it will speed up completion of the rest of the game.

EDIT: another background for DM aficionados

#94
FrankT: Voices are tricky, for me and others David Jason and Terry Scott are DM & Penfold, any other voices would just be wrong. I could rip audio from the original episodes but as there are no subs for DM It would be a long and tedious process (PM me if anyone can find some, Ive looked extensively). It would also limit the dialog. It will probably be a compromise with some audio (catch phrases etc), unless someone out there can do a convincing DM impression.

BiggerJ: Hazard Rat, dee dum dee dum dee dum. What a great idea! And his arch nemisis Earl Emu, with special villian Count Chuckula ( a woodchuck?).

EDIT: Chuckulas faithful retainers Granny and Mordoor. Arghh I am in a parallel cartoon universe.

Thankyou for your kind words. Like I said earlier a lot of the backgrounds are taken from screenshots of episodes which I then redraw, so its the original artists that have the talent I'm just semi OK with Illustrator.

Yes I did know about the reboot I posted a link in a earlier post, if I get a cease and desist ill just alter the characters etc.

EDIT: As for Duckula a bit of both.

Updated main post with progress so far. Took last week off as I had a few personal things to take care of and I needed a break, dreaming about Danger Mouse is not something a grown man should be doing :)

Anyway a background to satiate those hungry for progress, its Baron Greenbacks castle.

Being out of work helps, I can do an hours work here and there during the day. I have an interview next week so progress may slow down in the coming months.

Support from the community has kept my motivation high, I just hope the game can live up to expectations.

Updated main post with weekly update. I hope to have a playable demo of the first section of the game completed by the end of October, though this may just be wishful thinking at the moment.

In the meantime another of the backgrounds I have just completed (Duckula fans should recognize it straight away).

Has this already been solved?

Im sticking to 'Cosgrove Hall Films' cartoon characters. Duckula was a spinoff from Danger Mouse so I think it fits.

I remember Bananaman and maybe I will do a short game about him after I have completed this game, but I would like to move on to my own original ideas at some point :)
