Well, it's too crowded for a space background. Try making one planet and a sun far back. then practice your pixelling skills by adding texture to the planet, glow and so on.

You could make some stars with 1px size and make some of them a bit darker. Then add 4 or 5  of them in 2x2 px and in the the end draw a couple of largest ones (like the ones you have now).

As for the blue lines in the background, I suggest making them more purple but also more visible and i suggest drawing them in a solid color instead of using the spraycan. In fact, don't ever use the spraycan tool.

Draw your palette by the side of the image that you won't use and try to limit the colorcount.

Oh, and BTW paint is almost a perfect tool for pixelart, I guess most of you didn't even know that it has a color replacer tool and 10x zoom. Also, using layers can be simulated too if you seperate your image into a few pieces and use selection tool properly.

Oh and Akumayo, you can do that. Just select a color you want to edit, and click colors>edit colors and then click on "Define custom colors"

I like the design. What I would like to suggest is to clean the text areas so that text doesn't overlap that bubble-like noise.

Just a lil' something to seperate the beilevers from the hypocrites.

Christianity is obsolete, much like other religions that are based on the fear of the unknown.

Do you really need the bible to separate the wrong from the right?

Besides how did it help us grow. If we all followed it's dogmas blindly, the Earth would still be a flat board which sun rotates around.

You guys are SO going to hell.  :P

"I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the
minds of every family member for my agenda..."

I think this one is pretty funny considering the fact that the guy is a radio broadcaster.

Read this again. Think about it. Feel free to edit it out of your post.

Pretty cool dude, but you posted the thumbnail version of your image that gets generated by the imageshack service.

Here is your original:

Oh, and I suggest saving your pixel art as either gif or png, jpg can distort your image a bit.

There are a few more flash toons with Trapezoid's songs, the other one is mentioned here:

Actually, if you listen more closely that tone repeats through the whole tune in even intervals. The problem is it gets repetitive after a while. This would be especially noticable if the tune looped in the background.
You can either play with the dynamics and make that tone more quiet on some places or you could even change it with another tone that fits the current chord.

About the drumkit, there is a kick at the start of the tune but it goes away after a few beats. My suggestion here would be to either add a complete percussion track to the piece, or use a percusive element that is used on it's own. Like a shaker or a triangle.

A very nice piece of music, by the way.

Actually, the images are in .png format.

Can you tell us a bit more about the GUI, is it supposed to be used for the inventory, or will there be move, use and other buttons in there?

I like your style, very atmospheric.

My entry, Dune's ornithopter in 3 colors.

Drawn, inked, scanned, resized, pixel pushing done in mspaint.

There are many versions of this vehicle (games, movie, series, books) and I made this one using all of them as a reference.

I might change the palette a bit later.

EDIT: Ok, to justify a 3 color sprite, here it is in a C64 and EGA palette colors:

Try using the Gimp.

Then when you make something, post it here if you want to get tips on how to improve it.

Also, checking out the tutorial thread will help you get on the right track, too.

God, I envy you.

As for the MIDI controller, I'd personally go with:

Critics' Lounge / Re: A cute room (WIP)

I would say you are done with this room.

The character looks a bit too blurry compared to the style the room was drawn. I think the one in your avatar would work better.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but the two mandatory screenies have to be taken in game.

Using player's abilities to solve puzzles sounds innovative, and you mentioned Karl will be able to affect it's surroundings in negative and positive ways. Does this mean that the game will have multiple endings?

Good luck with it.

QuoteWhat is it with these companies that give you bleeding obvious advice when something goes wrong?
Well, to you it may seem obvious and silly, but they were probably dealing with people that forgot to do the obvious (or even worse cases) in the past.

There is a list of funny tech support issues somewhere on the internet.

Here is a couple of those sites:

Please, convert images to gif or png format before diplaying them here. The reason is a big difference in the image's filesize. The BG you posted has 300kb, when in png format it would probably take up around 30kb.

If you need a good host for your sprites, I suggest using Photobucket.com.

Then you can use the following code to display them here:

Code: ags

although it's not that necessary since an album with your images and BB codes for them will be generated.

Now for the crits:

Background:

First select a light source (or a few of them) and shade accordingly. You might want to ditch the black outlines by replacing them with a darker shade of a color nearest to them. You could also add some of the following to fill the space up:
-chairs
-pipes
-rivets
-panels
-wires
-use your imagination for more :)

Characters:

I suggest moving their lightsource right above them, that way you'll get mostly consistent shading on most backgrounds. The thing about black outlines applies here too.
I like how you drew their bodies, but the heads seem a bit too big. If you're going for a cartoony comical style, that's ok.

Also, you're using saturated colors, here's an image to explain what I mean:

Experiment when picking colors and draw out your palette at a side when working with sprites, that helps a lot.
