In terms of a story it's a pretty good game, but as mentioned, i find the QTE sequences more of a distraction. It's more like an interactive film than a game, weather that's good or bad is something you have to decide.

Lol, i do hope you're wrong. I've been doing some work on my new website (should be running by tomorrow) and ive come up with this for those interested:

It's an evolution of her from the very first picture i did of her on the left, right through the ages. As you can see, we've had allsorts, grotesque hunchback gloria, short-ugly nerd gloria, right upto the cute new hatless gloria. Action figures coming soon ;)

King_Nipper:
Multi-game entries are fine, so your first one can stand. Leave the econd one up as well, though - it makes it look like there're more entries!

And, I would say "No more non-entry posts", but since I didn't get DanClarke's either, I'll let it slide.

*sigh* the blinkered mainstream gamers of today.  ;)

Can i just ask why? surely itd be a better idea to keep hold of them, as you wont make much profit on them presently.

Interesting point, i guess i dont really think about it too much.

I try to avoid denim, unless it's some sort of cliche or irony.

I dont think there is really any need at this stage to remakeany of those games, AGS would only be able to equal them in terms of graphics and interface etc (if the artist and coder was good enough) so i wouldnt see the point.

It's an interesting idea, and a few people have mentioned it. As said, the workload for creating full animations with different clothing would be too much in  asingle game, but there's always part two, so i guess she can have a change of clothes for the 2nd part when it does eventually arise.

Well, there's always the possibility to get help for the animation part also. Actually while thinking about it, there are at least ten people who do animation once a week (I'm talking about the animation comp). I'm sure that someone (more than one actually) will want to help you.

Imagine that you, yourself, did 4 different versions! You must have time to do like another... [(2x8)x4]...64 different versions for an animated sprite with 8 positions for up, down etc...

Shit! That's a lot of workload. Find work!

Anyway check the animation competitions and then see... how it goes.

I can't believe that I'm here only 4 months and allready giving advice to a guy who is here 1 and a half year!  :-\

Ill look into the possibilty of her changing at some point, but im not gonna go ott with it, it doesnt really add anything to the game, and i dont want people to be distracted from the main game beause they spen an hour clicking 'use wardrobe'.

I think the dark shirt adds more personality, but I miss the hat. Can we have that hat back please  :D.

I think she does look 14 now, before she looked about 10.

Lol nope, i'm afraid that particular garnment has been shelved deep within the dusty confines of the Lost Lagoon props room.

You have so many great looking sprites, it'd be a shame to have to go with only one.
If I'd be you, I would make her change her appearance several times in the game. That would make her a more believable character and it would show off all those great sprites. You could even go as far as having the way she looks dependent on the situation she is in. Do you have a scene where she has to act mature and grown-up? Then let her hair and the rest of her body seem more mature (like in prog's edit). Or does she seem immature, childish and young in a scene? Then let her wear that hat, that makes her look younger.

It's an interesting idea, and a few people have mentioned it. As said, the workload for creating full animations with different clothing would be too much in  asingle game, but there's always part two, so i guess she can have a change of clothes for the 2nd part when it does eventually arise.

I think you just made her much much older!

And I think that you kinda entered into Japanes field of art.

Take into acount that I'm no artist!

I like it very much though.
And I know that this isn't the critics lounge... ;)

Lol thanks for the feedback, i have actually done manga style stuff before.

Personally i wouldnt say it was unreaosnable to say she looked 14?

New concept art regarding Gloria's new look:

#293
Thanks for the feedbacl guys, i prefer the hair down tbh, but i'll keep going until i find something.

Prog: I like your edits (1 of them looks scarily like my g/f lol) but i think the styles might be a little too mature for a 14 year old.

Loominous: You're certainly right about the posture change and ill look into that, bar the legs in your edit, i think theyre a little too skinny.

I'll keep going until i find something that stands out a little more.
#294
Lol ok guys, easy on the babe comments, we've decided on a final age, she's 14[/i].

IK, i spent some time animating today, and something i noticed was that i'm not overly keen on the hat that Gloria wears, and it's also a humongous pain in the ass in terms of animating. Gloria comes from pretty much a present day period, so i don't think the hat is really fitting in that sense either. So i've come up with a new version of hers truly. I know some of you are going to prefer the old one, but i actually think he looks cuter with her hair down!:

P.S: I'm also toying with the idea of changing the shirt colour.

EDIT:

EDIT 2:

EDIT 3:

tidied up the shirt + shorts, and moved her head back slightly, it appeared a little craned.

 Hi all,
I know you dont see me in this part of the forum much, that's because i havent really gotten around to doing anything tech-y for the game yet. As I'm well on with the artwork for the game now, i'll sooner or later be looking to get the scripting done, but there's a problem in the way that

a) i have no PC (i have limited access to one but i wouldnt be able to get massive amounts of time in on it)

b)I have no real experience with AGS as a programming tool (ive had a mess with it, but nothing serious)

I am computer literate, and i tend to pick things up quickly, but i'm looking at the possibility of getting a coder (or maybe coders) on board for help with the scripting side of things, in order to speed up the process of actually getting this game going. If anyones interested just PM me, but i must ask that i'd really only like to take experienced coders on board, as i want the project to be of the highest quality.

If you're interested let me know, this wouldnt have to be a full time project, and i'll be doing some bits and pieces myself. All those involved will be credited fully, so as i said, if you're interested, or even want to just ask about anything regarding the game just let me know.

Cheers

Mon 10/10/2005 19:26:44
Just thought id post some little tips in here and add them as i think of them.

ill start with fullscreen mode, use this (press the F key until the image surround goes back), handy for keeping tab of range on your image by having a black surround.

i guess only babar is the only one who wants to help me
please could i get some more feed back from people
Im desperate for some pointers

Sin

All i can say to you at this point is to at least attempt to do a BG, even if you dont think it's very good, everyone here is willing to help, but you need to give it a go 1st. If you're not confident with photoshop then dont expect to achieve magical things straight away, just keep practicing and with everything you do you'll get better :)
