As I said the tree at the top is supose to be that big becouse it's a puzzle and a gag in the game. But I'll fix up the flat top a bit

whoops, my bad.  :-[

can i also add that the proportion of your tree on the top of the  mountain is a little out, as it seems to be a lot bigger than any of the huts. If i were you id just reduce the size of it a bit. It'd be nice to see some more detailling to make it a little less empty, but as you say its a map so no doubt we'll see that im sure. Other than that looks good. :)

I think the caractors a bit small in relaition to the other caractors youve drawn ( ( i mean the boy)

That's because he's only a little boy? lol. I use the main character as a reference for BGs and NPCs, so that things are always in a rough proportion

cheers for the feedback from everybody  ;)

(p.s: sorry mods, i was away on holiday when the last few posts were added, so thats why im late to reply)

so you're saying that i can have the front image as her idle pose, and then i should draw an extreme side view just for when she's walking...and then when she stops walking she can return to the front image that i like (the front that is slightly angled?)...cause i was thinking about it last night...i really just like that "front" image and want that to be seen as the normal image...

yes exactly, if you have samnmax or dott, try them and look closely t the walking anims, they go from angled idle pose, to side walking view, back to angled idle pose.

i think the issue i see in this is that because her front view is slightly angled, her side view needs to be competely side on to acheive the right effect. if yyou look at games like samnmax and dott, all of the main characters have an 'angled' side on pose, yet the side view of the characters shows them directly from the side. Hope this helps, keep it up.

correct me if im wrong but it looks as if you may have ripped the water and part of the beach from some other game, as the quality of the top and bottom half of the image dont look as if theyve come from the same person.

I agree on the resolution idea, i too had considered using 640x480, but i thought the effort that would have to be put into animation etc just wasnt worth it, especially as im also doing all the graphics/animation for my game by myself.

ive been on holiday in portugal for a week, got back yesterday, did a few BG sketches whilst i was out there so ill be working on those. Ill try and post something for you all to see this week, but some of the BGs i want to keep to myself.  ;)

i love the look of this, very promising, and youve backed up your style with a solid plot, keep it up  ;D

you should have said that in your first post? I dunno, maybe im wrong but it just seems like youve made no effort to make it dingy yourself?

new, very rough, concept art. Im just messing with different methods atm, but i think it's good to have a lot of art to back up your work.

Yes but DanClarke, he said he was a beginner so maybe he should go with his idea. A platform is too hard for anyone without the expierience. But, he could try it.

I dont think it's about experience, as im sure it's possible to obtain software for creating platform games that is similar to (if not easier to use than) AGS. I didnt say it becuase of his experience, i was just suggesting that from the sounds of his game, which seems to be quite action orientated, a platform style might suit it better?
#495
i'm not so sure on this one tbh, i think the iea of picking up things randomly would get tiresome very quickly, especially in this sort of genre. Perhaps making a platform game or something like that would be better suited to your idea?
#496
i like it but there's a few things i dont think are right:

-the shadoow recessing on the side of the bridge should be the same on the far side, its been reversed for some reason.

-the dirt next to the foreground of the bridge looks very blurry, doesnt suit the style at all.

-the tower seems too far away conidering the length of the bridge

Apart from that its really cool, i love the pencil sketch in particular  :D

i use photoshop, paint pot is ok, but anything done in MSpaint can be done in photoshop just as well or better. I use Appleworks (mac equiv to MSpaint) for my characters.

thanks for the edit darth, the reason the sign isnt too illuminated is that i plan to animate it when i implement it, along with rippling watter etc., tanks for the edit though, the idea wont be overlooked. ;)

And no i wont be using Manga hair an any situation, although im not quite sure who we're referring to as 'he'?
