Ive only been here for less than a week, but ive looked over the forums and noticed that people have improved vastly by the help given on this forum. The more you see. the more you'll learn. As for tablet, i dont use one, i find them quite difficult to get to grips with. keep trying, youll get there.

tnx everybody, but what do you mean exactly with texturing the tree with hand?

I think he means do the detailing on the tree yourself, as the texturing looks a little out of place. Work looks neat though.

hey freind just a quick one, on your map drawing, North should be pointing...North. I think its like that on all maps. Looks interesting. :)

Ive played them, and call me biased but i just don't like those kind of games where theres no real direction.

I think with a game like this, if you pick up an item, you should pick it up for a reason, and not be able to put it down until its served a purpose

Likewise in that you shouldnt find yourself dying when you walk into a cave or a room, these games are, afterall, about exploring and having adventures.

If i wanted to concentrate on staying alive and dropping items everywhere i'd play Resident Evil.

I don't think i'm the only one here who thinks this way.

OK here's some teaser info on part one:

-The 1st part will take place at night-time.

-The first person you meet in the town will be a kind elderly woman called Molly, but she'll have to be woken up first. ;) She'll be one of the people that will give you some history of the town, and give you some helpful starting info.

-You'll be required to run some errands for Molly, and these errands will make up Part One of the game. They'll be relatively easy, and just give you a chance to get to grips with the game, as well as giving you a chance to do some exploring, and meet a few of the locals.

Think this is a nice compromise. Lol YES you mentioned that, several times. The splodge is a tatoo, sorry if its not too clear, but it play a part to a puzzle in the game, so there'll be no confusion  ;)
#734
i like it  ;D

only thing i would do would be go over it in a vector program like Adobe illustrator, then you wont get the 'jaggies'. Nice though.
#735
Not to sound patronising, but how old are you? The way you draw makes me think  you're pretty young.

Cool. Looks like the Woody Allen fisherman in Sam & Max.

I think i was subconciously going towards that look lol. Ah well it's meant to be lucasarts style so not to worry :)

EEK: i've just looked at the guy in SamnMax and found theyre a little too similar (even though i didnt use him for reference or anything) so changes are being made.  ::)

UPDATE

Quick re-edit, but i dont think it looks quiate as 'interesting' anymore, any ideas and feedback welcome.

First draft of the owner of the fishing shop in the game, i know that some detailling needs correcting in places and the red 'pisshead' nose isnt to everybodies taste  :P but i like it so it's staying lol. He has no legs because he'll spend the game behind a counter, so i found it pointless to draw them in.

look really good, just a quick pointer, for the mountains in your second peice, i would try and make them look 'foggy', as if theyre further away. If you look at an image with mountains in the distance you'll know what i mean.

I'd also apply the same tchnique to the horizon on your first image, as it looks to sharp, in theory because the horizon is so far away, the line between the sea and the sky shouldnt be so distinctive.

Hope this helps.

i think one advantage of the slightly blended look is that you can distinguish items and characters more easily. A character could quite easily get 'lost' in a vivid background. Nice work.
