Quite a few games have moved me to tears, but the one that instantly comes to mind is Goodbye Deponia. That ending... I think it will sit as my number one ending for a long time.

I'm not yet sure if I could really make a game all by myself - or if I should just help others with their own projects.

Both are equally good options. I recommend starting with a MAGS game. Whether by helping someone with theirs, or by making your own. The next MAGS should be starting next week, so you won't have to wait long either.
