(At the moment it's a 200+ MB download compressed, and almost 900 MB when expanded.)
Oh my. Was it that big last year? I could've sworn it was less than a quarter that size.

I did try to start scripting one such game, but yes, it is way too big a project for just one person :)

If others were interested - including someone who would take the lead scripting role - it could happen, though currently i am just presenting my gfx here :)
I so wish I could offer my help with such a game. But I wouldn't even know where to begin with making a strategy game. And chances are, I'd probably get the absolute basics done, before getting bored and giving up entirely.

I agree with what has been said, but I think all hotspots should have a special look at interaction, but it is perfectly fine to use the default interactions if the user is trying something ridiculous, such as "Use picture" it would be ok to say "I don't know how to do that". When I create a hotspot I look at all the interactions and ask if it makes sense to do this then I write a custom interaction for it.
I can understand why you think all hotspots should have a special "look at" interaction. I most certainly believe that almost all hotspots should as well. But there are just some items (for example, doorways) that I can't imagine anyone trying to look at, and where I think a default reaction would do.

Also, I think I need to add something else. I'm a hypocrite. Despite my opinions on the matter, I actually try to make everything into a hotspot and make a custom interaction for every possible interaction. Simply because I figure that if someone gets stuck, at least they'll still see new reactions. And writing is the easy part, so I figure why not.

Would be nice if you could dress up your avatars again this year ;)
Done. :-D
I still can't find my trousers though. :-\

Wow, who knew that dead fad had an interesting use! 8-0
I love Rube Goldberg machines. Although that might be due to my love of The Incredible Machine. (laugh)

If a Hotspot/object has a 'description' do you think it deserves ALL interactions or even have no interactions at all, just the description?

No description = no interactions?

Description = all interactions?

What do you guys think?
I think it only needs the interactions that make sense. If you try to include all interactions for all hotspots with descriptions, you're going to be spending a lot of time writing.
A picture doesn't need any interaction other than being able to look at it. Unless there's a safe behind it or something.
That all being said, if it's a hotspot, you should be able to interact with it in some way, even if it's just looking at it. I hate it when a game has a hotspot which only gives you default reactions for everything you try to do to it. Quite a few LucasArts games did that.

It would be a little odd for me to green screen myself as all the characters.
No, it wouldn't be odd. As a matter of fact, that could be the gimmick. A strange town where everyone looks very similar. A bit like League of Gentlemen.
Of course, having more people than just yourself would be helpful. Perhaps you could get your family and friends involved.

Overall, I think it should be quite possible for you to do it. Perhaps you could get something together to prove to yourself and others that you can finish what you've started, and then ask for some help on these forums.

But like AnasAbdin says, you should start off small. Put this idea on the shelf for now, and come back to it with a little more experience. Trust me, you will appreciate doing that.

I was just thinking about this this morning actually in regards to this issue:

I've read that the "Pirates Of The Carribean" script was rewritten from a draft of a "Monkey Island" script that never got made into a movie.

I mean, we all saw the obvious similarities, right?

So maybe Disney needs to hang onto the MI rights to avoid potential lawsuits from Ron Gilbert to claim IP rights on the MI script being recycled into a multi-million-dollar movie series?
I've been thinking about it too... and I'm still surprised Disney has never even so much as referenced Monkey Island in the latest Pirates of the Carribean movie. I mean they own the IP. They're both very similar! Throw in a reference or a cameo or anything!
I don't expect to ever see anything Monkey Island related again, but a bit of acknowledgement would be nice.

All horror games have scared me. I'm very easily frightened.
But I've always found that non-horror games with one horror level, always provide the most horrifying experiences. The Thief series, and Vampire: The Masquerade â€" Bloodlines are good examples.

One of my favourite games is City of Fools. It is clever and very entertaining.
If you're told to find objects that actually make sense in the context of the story, then I'll be more than willing to play it. :-D

But unless there are inventory object puzzles, it's not really comparable to an adventure game. As a matter of fact, I remember when people kept calling Hidden Object Games "Adventure Games". It was quite annoying, especially when you were searching for actual Adventure Games.

That's either Dark Sun: Shattered Lands or Dark Sun: Wake Of The Ravager.
I remember those games. They were sooooo good. And that definitely looks like one of them. I can tell from the menu icon in the top left corner.
I really should see about finishing them one day.

I've tried to play hidden object games, but I usually can't.
I'm told that I need to find clues for a crime, and I end up having to click on the moon, or a feather that's embedded in the wall, with no ryhme or reason for any of it. At the end of the day, I just start to wish that the people who had made the game had put their talents to something more entertaining, since they usually have brilliant art and story, but such meaningless gameplay.

I remember playing that game as a kid. :-D
I also remember finding Marko's Magic Football, and thinking they were the same game, because of how similar they were.
