What do you mean by "good with pixels"?
He means it's good for low-res games.

I'm not happy with the cup... but I absolutely love how well I did the base.

You know, I've had a similar idea for quite a while. But I've never tried making it because I know it would be too much work for me.

You may not know this, but there already kind of is a procedural detective game. It's a dos game called Sleuth. Coincidentally there's also a browser based game called Sleuth that's also a procedural detective game. Both of them are pretty decent as well.

Aww... I was going to guess Math Blaster. :~(

While this is all 100% true, and really showcases just how messed up AGS is.
I can't help but feel a sense of pride with this community, who have not only gathered around this clearly flawed engine and editor, but continue to release many great games with it. Even many commercial ones!

Despite these many MANY shortcomings, we all continue to use AGS. And that's just amazing. :-D

Ooh, I love that trophy Cassie!
Would you mind if I made a pixel art version of it?

Alone in the Dark?
Or at least a game made in the same engine.

I'm not much of an artist, but I'm all for helping with creating some resources.
Just tell me what to do, and I'll try my best. :-D

My goal next year is to make another game using AGS, no matter how small.
And to work on the projects I've already got started, no matter how little I get done.
Other than that though, nothing in particular comes to mind, other than the usual stuff such as passing my courses.

As for working harder and being healthier. Nope, not a chance. I'm not exactly healthy, but I'm healthy enough for me to be happy. And as for working harder, if I work any harder than I do now, then I'm probably going to suffer from a mental breakdown. (laugh)

Not bad at all!  I love the concept of gaming buddies talking about games.  And this particular comic is quite funny.

Thanks for sharing!

Haha that's pretty funny  :-D (when I looked at your post previously the image didn't show for some reason, ergo the late reply!) - I'll definitely check out your web comic now.  ;)

Thanks for the kind words you three. :-D

If there's one thing from this thread that I can see we all agree on (although please do correct me if I'm wrong), it's that we all think it would be awesome if ScummVM at least supported AGS 2.X games and prior.

There's a bunch of potential problems if they start supporting the newest games. But there doesn't seem to be much in the way of problems if the older games are supported. Also, it would better fit in with ScummVM since it is more or less there to help support older games so they are playable on older hardware. Something which is getting increasingly more difficult with the older AGS games.

If ScummVM at least supported the older AGS games, we could finally let go of trying to keep compatibility working with those older games.

But when it comes down to supporting the newer AGS games... I'll leave you lot to debate that. I'm woefully unqualified to come to a conclusion on that topic.

Looks like a shoot-em-up to me.
No idea what the name is though.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it!
Happy Holidays to anyone who doesn't celebrate Christmas but does celebrate a holiday today!
And a happy unbirthday to anyone who doesn't celebrate anything today! (Unless it is your birthday, in which case happy birthday.)

That should be everyone safely not offended. :-D

Ooh, this is a very interesting idea. Especially since we could quite easily remake Night of the Living Dead into a game. Because that film is in the public domain, and would probably fit into the adventure genre quite nicely.

I'd certainly be on board to help anyone who wants to remake an old public domain movie.

I think this is Jack Frost, but the 1997 horror one with the misleadingly scarier DVD cover, not the sappy 1998 Michael Keaton one.
It's actually Jack Frost 2, but your guess is close enough for me since you figured out it was the horror one. :-D
Your turn.

Alright, that was weird. I couldn't see the screenshot either. I seem to have gotten it working again though.
Sorry about that.

I honestly have no idea if this is an easy one or a hard one.
But I do know that I want the year the film was released along with the title. (And yes, that is kind of, sort of, a hint... maybe.)

QuoteBut then when we mentioned it in the AGS forums, where the game authors are, there was a huge uproar. They didn't want it. They disliked the idea.
Seriously?
I know I had an account back then, but I wasn't active, so I missed that whole ordeal. But I find it really hard to believe that this forum reacted so negatively to the idea.
Are we really to blame for the lack of AGS support in ScummVM? If so, then what gives? I thought we all wanted AGS support in ScummVM!
