(I try to avoid to only propose Amiga games: "Oh no, Atavismus post AGAIN an unknow boring ugly amiga game... ^^)
Total Annihilation (a very nice one!) is older.
Hey! Amiga games aren't boring or ugly! >:(

Good luck! :-D
I did the same thing once, and I've regretted it ever since. But it gave me a good start for using AGS, and allowed me to finish my first proper game.

Where do you come up with these claims? Do you have access to some secret reservoir of knowledge we mere mortals don't know about?
A Youtube channel ran by someone who fixes computers for a living.

He once fixed a computer, cleaned out the registry, and updated everything, to make it run faster. But it ran slower. Quite simply, service packs (and updates in general) usually require a stronger computer to run. (He even said "try explaining that to your customers.")

Of course I assumed that going from XP sp2 to XP sp3, would incur the same requirements increase as upgrading to any newer service pack in the other Windows operating systems. But I guess was wrong.
But don't forget there's also hard drive space. So I wasn't entirely wrong.

I'm surprised there are still people running xp sp2 and below... there's not even reason not to upgrade.
Upgrading would make the computer run slower. So if your computer is already so old that it already runs quite slow, upgrading to sp3 would make it run at a crawl's pace.
That being said, I agree with you. Just upgrade to sp3, and if it runs too slowly, upgrade your hardware.

I'd just like to mention that we had this discussion in 2006 as well.

I think I have the assets still cached on my drive, the "new" Roger was drawn quite nicely.
Wow, I had no idea. I guess it only took a little over a decade for everyone to get over themselves. (laugh)

Also, while I love that new Roger. I think we should make him look a little more like the AGS Roger rather than the Space Quest Roger (yes, I know they're one of the same, but hear me out) by giving him brown hair and red sleeves.

Kinda the same way I've never thought of Gonzo as any specific kind of animal.
I always thought Gonzo was a fly... or a mosquito.

Well not lead per se, but it will have to seriously involve you in some way. We literally can't do it without you. Obviously you'd work together with a developer. I'm happy to be involved, whether it's just me or a group.
I think CW could be best for bringing any ideas down to reality. Since he knows the insides of the engine like the back of his hand, he'll have the best viewpoints when it comes down to how plausible or implausible something is. So while everyone else in the committee would be coming up with ideas, and choosing the best ones for implementation, CW could be there advising everyone about how realistic these ideas are. Which of course could affect the committee's decision as to whether or not development time would be better suited elsewhere.

If anyone is going to lead the committee (and have the final say in matters), I think it should be someone who has released the most commercial games using AGS. Since they will know the most about what the engine needs.

There are still other solutions, like suggest override the font with another one, which works if you put it in the game folder.

Oh, that's cool! I didn't know you could do that.
Me neither. This changes everything! 8-0

I could upgrade this library about a year ago, but I did not manage to make it render some of the previously used AGS fonts properly (like the Lucas arts classic font used in all Maniac Mansion Mania games).
I remember that. I thought the way you managed to get it to render those fonts was rather acceptable considering the age of the games.
Personally though, I think that if it would fix problems like this, you should forgo the backwards compatibility. If anyone wants to play Maniac Mansion Mania on a newer computer, they could just use an older version of the engine which does have the backwards compatibility.

The more I make the more elements for me there will be to copy/variate so eventually I will be able to cover far more work in a week, perhaps even get a whole block a week done, rather then a building every day or two.
I always get bored of a project before reaching that stage. But I've always wondered, does that stage actually exist?
It always seemed like it should, but then again I've never reached it.

By the way, your art is simply amazing. Keep updating us on this. And as soon as you get some gameplay put in, show us some gif screenies. :-D

At the end of the day, if people want a "modern" engine, one that supports Android, etc, then...just pay the $49/$79/$125/$500 and license Visionaire Studio. It seems to do everything people are complaining AGS doesn't do. But if they just want a usable adventure game engine, AGS is more than adequate. Commercial developers may want more from the editor and engine, but there might be a good reason for that...
+1 to that. (nod)

But isn't there already technically an updated version of the default AGS SCI GUI sprites on one of the old RON templates?
Yes, there is:
[imgzoom]http://i.imgur.com/p0aFGcE.png[/imgzoom]
I remember a version even older than that, which looked exactly like the default AGS version, but coloured in. I'm sure I could find them if I looked for them.

But who cares, since this thread is about creating whole new icons!

Quote from: Hobo on Sun 16/04/2017 17:50:57
Should there be a separate set of icons for different resolutions or should they be somehow scalable?
I think there should be different sets for different resolutions. Preferably sets that look almost identical, but I'll understand if that's not possible. We really should hold a contest for this. Maybe the icons used could be some sort of combination of all of the entries.
