Come on guys!

When I come to this thread I come with a jumbo tub of popcorn prepared, and expect at least 3-4 rambling novella-length posts to savor...

Where's the meat?!
We need Jack.
He's the only one who can keep this thread alive.
JACK! Where art thou!

I love seeing games remade like this. :-D
The graphics look really nice as well.

I hope you win.

It looks familiar... but I can't recall the title.
I probably watched it once when I was a kid or something.

Firstly, the animations between locations, and the movie that plays when you press the play button, can easily be done in AGS. There might be a slight noticeable pause before the animation starts, but then again, I've seen such noticeable pauses like that in commercial games, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

As for the whole sepia tone being turned to colour thing, that can also be done. Although I'm afraid it might not be able to color in characters. Then again, maybe a good enough programmer might be able to figure that out.

As a matter of fact, I've actually seen both of these problems (at least similar problems) addressed in other projects recently.
This one and this one.

I found Jeff.. but no way can I find the bag-o-swag and the potato.

This actually looks very good, and would probably be brilliant for anyone starting out.

I agree with Mandle's suggestions. I also think it would be nice to have some slight control over things such as head size, body size, and little deformations like that. So you can make each character look unique.

I've definitely heard of that animation before, but I've never watched until now. So thanks for the link. :-D

Wow... that's impressive.
And something nice to listen to while I do other things. :-D

What the hell is that thing?!? 8-0
Someone should kill it with fire before it multiplies!

In all seriousness though, nice entry.
I still don't know what I could do for mine, or if I'm going to participate at all. :-\

That's no dragon, that's just poor pixeling. :)
Shh, don't tell people that you didn't intend for it to look like a dragon. Make people think you did it on purpose, so you look like a better artist. ;)

By the way, I love the little alterations you did. Especially those little eyes poking out of that tree. (laugh)

Beautiful.
Although the randomly placed coloured pixels on the grass, make me think that my monitor has some dead pixels.

Other than that though, it's gorgeous.

Maybe it's just me, but Johnny's portrait looks a little creepy.
Those wide eyes and that big smile, come together to create a rather unsettling image. At least, in my mind.

I agree with Cassiebsg about the lighting.
Although I just want to add that I like the texture effect you've placed over this background. For some weird reason it reminds me of the artifacts that would appear when you played a 3D game in 256-colour mode. And for some even weirder reason, that gets me all nostalgic.

Take what I'm about to say with a pinch of salt, since I probably have no idea what I'm talking about.
But movies and games are two very different mediums. A movie has scenes in a very specific way, with the actors facing a specific direction, with the camera changing in specific ways at specific times. While games are much more dynamic, with you usually being able to move the character freely about the screen, and with the camera only changing at certain locations.

A director could definitely help with cutscenes, but a game shouldn't be bogged down with too many cutscenes. I think the general rule of thumb is that a cutscene should be under four minutes... I can't quite remember though, it could be less. None the less, it's something like that, and that rule of thumb comes from the guy who conned the term cutscene.

What I'm trying to say is that a director works best in non-interactive medium. They have a clear vision which they then put on screen for everyone to see.
But games are an interactive medium, which won't conform to the exact vision a film or tv director will have due to a multitude of changing variables.

That isn't to say a director would be a bad idea. Just not one who specializes in films and/or television shows.

Like I said though, take what I said with a pinch of salt. It's only my opinion.

I found all three almost instantly.
Jeff was a little hard because he kind of blends in with the background (the other horses), but he wasn't too hard.

Definitely a really good entry.
I can't wait to see the other entries. :-D

Are you sure it even happened?

I'm with Stupot on this, it was all just a dream.
You probably started this thread while you were sleep walking.
