"Baby Thief" and "The Grand Mini Mini Heist" sound like names that would belong to some of the cheesiest and funniest movies I would ever seen.  (laugh)
Now I kind of want actual movies made, based on those names.

Also, could you imagine if those were the actual names of those movies in English?

It's a real shame that your friend can't see past those titles though.

The 1983 version of the game was created by Eric N. Miller of Norland Software and he suggested a $10 contribution if you found his game entertaining.
Is it still possible to give that $10 contribution?  ???

AGS Games in Production / Re: A very raw idea.

I like the idea. A game that's loosely based on Only Fools and Horses.
If you can keep it small, you should be able to finish it. I wish you good luck.  :-D

It grinds my gears when people can't see past the name of something, and then they call you the idiot because you don't take things at face value.

For example: "Of course a coconut is a nut, why else would it have nut in the name?"

it still doesn't quite have the charm that AGS's solution does.
What charm? The anti-glide feature is nauseating in a scrolling room unless you have a lot of animation frames, which most small freeware indie games don't.
I'm not even exaggerating.  :-X

It's about time you released this!  :-D
Congratulations. Hopefully now I'll actually be able to complete the game (I couldn't get very far in the 1983 original).

EDIT: Whoa! 345mb! That's huge!

That's because only three people have voted to change the category of that game, and each voted for something different!  As I said, it'll take at least five votes for a category for it to change (and the most votes over five will always win).  Otherwise it would be chaos, with the category changing every time someone voted; this would allow one voter to change a game's category to whatever they want, and be far too open to abuse.
Sounds fair.  (nod)
I like it.  :-D

Ah, you also use that one in Day of the Tentacle to get a vacuum cleaner in every American's basement.
Good one.  :-D

I recommend to make special AGS version at eDuke32 Build style. Do you know this level editor? It has interesting 3D mode.
The mother of all necroposts.  8-0

Personally, I think there's already much better engines out there if you want to make a 3D adventure game. In my opinion, AGS is best suited for retro-looking pixel art adventure games, and so should be geared towards that. When it comes down to tools, it's better to do one thing really good, than half a dozen things only marginally decently.

Well we're in lockdown here in Slovenia too. I was just recently in contact with my mother in law that is positive for covid and I'm pretty sure I got it. It's not pleasant
But untill things really go downhill I'll selfisolate.
Get well soon.

Many will disagree, including the original creator, Alan Moore, but:

Watchmen

I cannot say how much the graphic novel impacted me and influenced my standard for good written art.

The first time I watched the movie was almost a religious experience for me. I did have the "WTF?!" moment that every fan experienced towards the end but, given time, I've come to the opinion that the plot change there actually makes the story better in a movie format. In an already long movie, adding the story of the island etc, would have been too much, and Dr. Manhattan was the obvious threat that humanity was worried about, so it's all good.

Just watched it again tonight (theatrical version) and it really stands up. I think this is going to be a movie that caused a lot of butthurt when it came out but is going to be rediscovered over time and heralded as a classic.

I'm curious how it was for those who saw it without having read the book, though.

I've never read the book. Although I did watch the movie once, and I remember rather enjoying it as the time.
I was surprised when I later learnt that people didn't like it. Then again, the same is true for Terminator Genisys, so... maybe I just have terrible tastes in movies.  :-\

Jurassic Park

Well written characters, fun and great dialog lines, movie science that made me excited with getting real life dinossaurs (it was so believable when I was a kid!), and a ton of little details that makes it fun to rewatch. The effects are also believable and the movie immerses you in it's world right from the start.
I haven't seen it in years, so I don't know how it holds up. But man, first seeing those dinosaurs at the cinema was jaw-dropping when it came out!
I never liked the Jurassic Park movies. They always came across as being nothing more than "Ooh, look dinosaurs!" as though the spectacle alone was supposed to be enough to carry the movies. And I never really cared much for dinosaurs either, so...  :-\
That being said, I can safely say that the dinosaurs still hold up, and are still jaw-dropping.  (nod)

Yeah, just call it 4.
Sure the interface isn't getting an overhaul or anything, but it sounds like it's going to be enough of a departure to warrant the name change.
Besides, the informal naming scheme already suggests that most people see it as being a 4 anyway.

Also, what effect will switching from Allegro 4 to SDL2 have?

What grinds my gears right now is how prevalent innumeracy is. Or rather, people confidently and loudly spreading nonsense while also not understanding extremely basic math.

Like a prominent flat-earther who constantly tells his cultish followers that the 10^-17 Torr (pressure) of space is a negative number, meaning that space supposedly has a "negative pressure" and that the vacuum of space should suck the Earth's atmosphere right off it. Not only is the math and science misunderstood, but also they think that "vacuum" means like a Dyson.

Oh wow, really? By that same logic, we should all be dead.  ???
You'd think the obvious fact that space doesn't suck all of Earth's atmosphere right off of it, would tip him off that his logic is flawed. (Not to mention all of the other things he clearly forgot to take into account, including gravity, magnetic fields, ect).

It's like those people who come up with a design for a perpetual motion machine, and honestly believe it works. You'd think the fact that it doesn't work, would be enough to convince them that it doesn't work. But it isn't.  (laugh)

That must have been one very fast painter. It looks like the man was caught off-guard by a random photograph, except it's a painting.

Which reminds me of another film for this list. Grave of the Fireflies. Great, beautiful movie. Not for me, thanks.

For me, that falls into the same category as One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in that everyone should watch it once, absorb its message into the way they look at and live life, and then probably never watch again or risk suicidal depression.

Grave Of The Fireflies should be required viewing for Junior High students in any country, with guided discussion from a history teacher that this shit actually happened, so that it may never happen again.
+1
It's the best film I have ever watched, and I will never ever watch it again in my life.  (wrong)
