I hope you can explain to me WHY this things happen. Thanks.
Easy. Because almost no one realizes that writing for a video game is different to writing a book or a movie.
If there wasn't a huge amount of text between you actually being able to do something, you wouldn't have that problem. Since Adventure Games these days typically don't have anything time sensitive in them, other than dialog.

One person I was making video games with in the past used to say "fuck the fans".
That explains so much. I suppose that's what got us Sonic's original movie design.  (laugh)
I'll always stand by the belief that giving the fans what they want, generally results in a better product. When done correctly that is. For example: Shadow the Hedgehog vs Sonic Mania.
Of course, sometimes the fans don't know what they want, for example: Heath Ledger's Joker.

Remember, there's a balance. And you've got to be able to realize the difference between what's being included as fan-service and what's being included because it's required for that franchise. For one last example: having a proton pack in something Ghostbusters related would not be fan-service, but having Slimer would be. Most people don't seem capable of telling the difference though, usually saying it's all fan-service then throwing it all out because "fuck the fans".  (roll)

I had translated the WT before , but was unsure
if i can post it here for copyright reasons...
Now i have only portions left
Edit: it was super easy , you just may not copy
the graphics , the translator gets digestion problems then
EDIT:I will give it one more try, the translation was ok, despite a few typos
EVEN MORE EDIT:
Here's the german text, you must open the PDFwith Acrobat Reader, then you
can copy the text. Now you can use a translator of your choice, I used Google's, worked fine:
Sorry for the formatting :-((
But that should solve your problem, enjoy the game !!
Thank you very much.  :-D
It's greatly appreciated.  (nod)

Alright, I've got an idea.
Why doesn't someone who can copy the text, just copy and paste it all into Google Translate, then paste the result into here for us all.
If someone could do that for us, I know I'd be grateful.  :-D

My first thought upon seeing this was "Where's Jeff?" Glad to know you didn't forget him though.
Overall, quite nice.
Make sure to tell us if and when you get these guys in as easter eggs.  :-D

What did you find out, when you looked into the creator and the history of the game (s) ?
Please keep in mind that this is all from memory.

I learnt that he originally made the first game in a week (maybe a few weeks) as a joke, because everyone was apparently starting AGI games and not finishing them. So he was going to make the first ever completed AGI fan game.
It got popular, which in turn inspired him to make a sequel and actually put effort into it. Which in turn led to him falling into the same trap as all of those unfinished games. Releasing a demo and forgetting about it. Apparently he considered his girlfriend his "muse" which kept him going in making the game. But relationships end, which in turn made him lose all motivation. But then he got another girlfriend and therefore a new muse, and finished the game.
He then had a plan to remake the original game (I think using AGS in a VGA SCI type of style) and putting in some additional scenes to better explain some of the plot elements of the second game. After remaking the first game he would then make the third and final game, with the hope that maybe someone else would remake the second game.
But the second game wasn't as popular, which in turn made him lose his motivation. I think he might have lost his second "muse" as well. And that's kinda where it ends.
I think he did some artwork for a Space Quest fan remake. And I'm certain he made a few sprites for his Fuck Quest remake. But that's about it.

I like it enough.  I'd be more worried about the game being fun.  I love the Dragon Quest series of the 80s+ and they've almost never had a good interface, but damn if that game isn't fun.
Having completed six Dragon Quest games last month, and having only just recently completed Dragon Quest VII yesterday (that was one heck of a long game), I concur.  (nod)

So my question is this.  Does the interface appear wherever you click, or always in the middle?
If it's a turn-based RPG, then won't the interface appear automatically? Meaning it can't appear wherever you click, because you don't click to make it appear.

Sounds like the onset of sleep paralysis. I get that. I've learnt to just fall into it, relax, and start lucid dreaming. You tend to wake up from it in about five minutes.
Coincidentally, I had it this morning... TWICE!
Just relax and start (for lack of a better word) daydreaming.

Soon in the UK wearing masks will be mandatory in all shops...  Why am I not surprised.. People are fighting and arguing over masks and it's like watching a comedy spectacle from pure observation.. Let's see what's up next.. You could not make this up ;)
Heh, like that will be enforced.  (laugh)
You're supposed to wear a mask whenever you go on any public transport, but only about half of them do. At least where I live.

Danvzare: Can you see the images now?
Yes, I can see them now.  :-D
It's strange that I couldn't.  :-\

Could you please add at least one screenshot?
Your Itch.io page has five of them. So you could at least put one here.

Otherwise, looks interesting.

There was a sequel? I'm sure that guy loves that anyone Googling his name gets to see his raunchy infamy. (laugh) I bet that's interrupted more than one job interview.
It's not his real name. It was a username someone gave him a long time ago, which just kind of stuck. The username is actually a joke in of itself, it can be shortened to Dick Eter... get it?
...
After I played the game, I researched everything I could about the guy including the story behind the games.

Played it, loved it, then quickly managed to break the system. I'm not sure what happened, but it started giving me really generic replies that had almost nothing to do with what I was writing. I think it can't handle "stories" that go over a certain length. Really fun though, highly recommended.

I know I'm years behind as these games came out a very long time ago, but I am hoping someone out here in the community has either played them or knows of a site where I can get the walkthroughs for them with points lists. I've tried to google for them and get nothing and Richard's site is no longer active from what I've unable to find. Thanks everyone for taking the time to at least read this and if you can help, Thank you in advance.
I played them a long time ago (don't judge). But I can't remember any solutions. I do remember how I managed to solve some of the more obscure puzzles though.
I got an AGI editor, opened the games up in it, and looked at what commands were available in each room. I hope that helps.

It'll be scary if and when such a decision is ever made. As the line will be drawn in the sand. And anything with that type of content, will be strictly prohibited.
While I admit that I do indeed have a line in my head, this particular game doesn't seem like it would cross it. So if this was to be considered inappropriate and removed, I would be worried for anything I made (now or in the future).
But yeah, Snarky's response was quite nice.  :-D

Note however that I never straight up asked for it to be removed; what I did was simply ask for a review precisely because of this. It is too easy to see things clearly when it's your line in the sand, which is why bringing these things up for discussion is good for everybody, I think.
Oh I noticed. I still find it scary that someone would ask for the line to be drawn though. Especially since it could go either way.
But hey, at least you're level-headed. At least more level-headed than me (since I would've downright asked for it to be banned if it crossed my line).

I am afraid that the outrage was caused partially by the fact that the character that gets tied up is female and the one that ties her up is male who breaks into her house. I am really curious if anyone would mind the game if the genders of the characters were switched around or different in any other way.
Nope. I'm fairly sure it's because someone else had to make the content warning for the creator.
Since that made people question the sudden warning, and therefore start a discussion. I think people would've been more accepting if the creator was more upfront. Like a "Hey, this game contains content that some might find offensive due to it's explicit nature. It's not meant to offend, and I'm sorry if it does, but it definitely can. So be forewarned."
A lack of a warning like that, makes it seem like the creator thinks the content is perfectly fine. This calls into question his character, which in turns calls into question the motive behind the game.

And considering the creator has admitted that the game was never meant to cause an outrage, yet adamantly refused to apologize anyway. Lends credit to what I said earlier, about calling his character into question. If this had been me, I would've apologized. I wouldn't take down the game or censor myself or anything. But I would've apologized.

Speaking of which, sorry if this has come across as an attack on you Cone Arex. Congratulations on your first game posted here, and I hope this doesn't put you off, on posting more of your games. And look on the bright side. Your little game is getting talked about a lot more than it would've done if it wasn't for the outrage.  :-D

I believe that narratives where any person, be it a transgender person, a male, a female, is hurt by others is equally upsetting. And claiming that such narratives where the victim is a women is particularly upsetting is against true gender equality. Also, there are plenty of males being victims of rapes and other offences. Not many of them want to speak out due to social stigma.
Ah, the equality vs equity argument.
Neither are right, and neither are wrong. Yet most people are incapable of noticing the difference or seeing from the other person's point of view.
Word of advice, don't go there.

Thanks for the elaborate reply, Snarky. This is the kind of mature response I was hoping for (rather than the moronic knee-jerk "pEoPLe aRe sO sEnSItiVe tHeSE dAyS *fart noises*"), and I see your point that this straddles a fine and maybe not-so-obvious line. I think it's very positive that anybody can bring up their concerns with the moderators and get an articulate and well justified reply, and I obviously respect your decision.

If there are people who are afraid of playing any game with for them inappropriate scenes, you (with you I am pointing at the AGS community) should introduce a content warning system, where the developer(s) can tick some boxes to describe what possibly inappropriate content the player can experience. (And such content warnings are for example visible on the AGS database entry of a game)

Such a ratings system is already in place. The author has marked "none" for all the categories covered: sex/nudity, violence, and bad language.
I think this is my biggest problem.
As I said, warnings are appreciated. But I think it's also safe to say that a lack of warnings is just wrong.  (wrong)

I use Paint.NET.
It's like MS Paint, if it had some of the basic feature that MS Paint is missing, such as layers and transparency.
It's not the best tool for the job, but its really easy to learn and it gets the job done. Highly recommended for beginners, especially those that like using MS Paint.

Of course, that's just for pixel art. For high res art, I use Adobe Illustrator CS3, Gimp, and Paint.NET.

Sensitive people should probably not play this, especially those who got very agitated in the Best Movie by Hitchcock? thread.
So, I wonder: It is a point and click adventure game, but what's the point?

Thanks for the heads up.
I should be fine, but warnings like that are always appreciated.

  • players often assume that "look at " and "examine" are the same
Nuff said.
Text adventure games are already relying on a lot of assumptions. Such as what actions are available, that the player knows what that clump of pixels is supposed to represent, and how to spell correctly. If you wanted a separate "look at" and "examine" actions, you'd have to make it clear somehow. And text parsers aren't about making available commands clear.

But personally, when I want the character to look at something, I want them to give me detailed information about it. That's why I looked at it in the first place.
I can already tell that it's a coin! I want to know if there's something special about the coin!
I already know there are books on the bookshelf, I want to know if any of them are interesting!
I can see it's a well! I want to know if there's anything inside it!
You get the idea.

At the end of the day though, do what you prefer. If you go for two separate commands though, at least tell the player at the start. Throw in a little tutorial puzzle which requires you to use it, while you're at it.
