I'm sorry to say Mandle, but most of those I either don't get, or aren't funny.
The "spawn campers" one though, is hilarious.  (laugh)

Also shouldn't it be "ride" not "rode"?
I mean even then, it's still the wrong word, but at least it'll be grammatically correct.

Ultima Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams. :D I'd say the Ultima franchise as a whole should make its glorious comeback (Shroud of the Avatar wasn't quite what I expected, sadly).
Yeah, it would be awesome if the Ultima franchise came back. But considering EA owns the rights... let's just say it'll either never happen, or if it does happen, you'll wish it didn't.
But hey, we can still dream.
It'd be nice if Might and Magic made a proper comeback as well, Sci-Fi mixed with High Fantasy and all.
I'd like to see Wizardry come back as well.

I'd love to take you out on that offer, but none of the games I'm currently making is anywhere close to completion (which is primarily why I haven't announced them yet).
Just promise to interview me in five years time, if your website is still running.  :-D

If there's something I've noticed it's that everyone believes that everyone younger than them is an idiot for not having their wisdom, and everyone older than them is an idiot for not moving along with the times.

"Hah, those old people don't know how to use a computer! They're idiots!"
and
"Hah, those young people only ever have their eyes glued to their smartphones! They're idiots!"

You've just got to remember that the more things change, the more they stay the same.  :)

Every single crappy horror asset flip game on itch.io says that though. At this point it doesn't really mean anything except maybe a couple of VERY LOUD JUMPSCARES! :-D
Oh I could tell you a thing or two about those crappy horror "games" on itch.io.
I've already boiled it down to a formula.
Always a flashlight (sometimes one which runs out of battery power, so you can't see anything).
Always a room that's illuminated red, somewhere in the game.
Always notes littered about the place, because apprently people write down their thoughts on random pieces of paper and leave them lying around.
Almost always a basement that you have go into to attempt to turn the power on.
ALWAYS literal key-door puzzles. Find a locked door, find another locked door, find a key, open locked door, find another key, open the other locked door, ect.
And then there's the fact that it's either a "monster maze" game, where you're wandering around and a monster is too, and that monster can usually run faster than you, with no way of avoiding it once you see it. Or it's a "haunted house" game, where you wander around and there's literally nothing that can hurt you. The walls may bleed, and the corridors may change layout behind you, but nothing will actually hurt you. You may get to a point where you're being "chased" by a monster, but in that case you merely have to wander around slightly faster, otherwise you'll have to retry the scripted chase sequence.
Throw in a few loud jumpscares, which by this point no one is startled by anymore, and there you go. Your very own "horror game".  :-X

I know this forum is for AGS, but it's nice to sometimes see some non-AGS adventure games.
This is the Adventure Related board, and this is an adventure game - the thead is right where it belongs.
I know it is. I just wanted to give context to my point.  :-D

The corner into which I've painted myself is very simple: there's a murder-suicide, but I don't know why.

So I ask you, honorable members of the community, what do you think could lead a man to murder a good friend/close business partner in a hotel room and then kill himself?
The number of possible answers to this, is such a great number, I wonder how you could be having a writer's block. Perhaps it's because you didn't come up with the "why" first.

But what makes a good reason, depends on the tone.
Perhaps they were fighting over a Pokemon card, one thing led to another, GuyA kills GuyB, and GuyB's blood ends up on the card, thus ruining it, therefore causing GuyA to kill himself.
This of course assumes a comedic tone, since it's rather silly.

Then of course there's the possibility that GuyA took some sort of new drug that's just hit the market, which causes incredible rage, he murders his friend, and when he comes down he kills himself.
This one lends itself to a more mystery tone, with an overaching plot.

Another idea would be to have GuyA confess his love to GuyB, who then refuses. Not being able to accept that, GuyA kills himself then killed GuyB.
This is a more normal, kind of boring tone if you ask me. A mystery again, but one that's self-contained.

Lastly there's the possibility that it WASN'T a murder-suicide. But they were BOTH murdered! And it was MADE to look like a murder-suicide!

I could come up with these ideas forever.

Ooh.
I feel like this could be very useful for something, but I'm not sure what.
In either case, it will definitely be useful for learning how those new functions work.

Thanks eri0o.

But that's besides the points. This looks interesting, I'll have to give it a play after I manage to find some free time.  :-D

I never even had a Sega console.

You've never consoled yourself with sega?

That would make you quite the unique male of the species!
Not really. I've never had a Sega console either. Unless you count emulators.

I personally don't mind the changes to Sonic's look. I never played a Sonic game and never cared for the character. I never even had a Sega console.
Imo this film would be equally stupid with any Sonic look.
If I put aside my bias, and look at this from a perspective of not caring if they changed Sonic's look. I still think it looks terrifyingly horrible.
But you're absolutely right, this film is going to be bad regardless of Sonic's look. Unless you mean Sonic will look silly regardless of design, in which case... preferences.

They could have definitely made a decent Sonic movie. Considering the comics, and the various cartoon shows, there's definitely proof out there that a good story could be told. But this film was never going to be good. Their very first decisions (from years ago) proved that, and the trailer cemented it.
And I think Jim Sterling's video pretty much explains why we'll probably never see a decent Sonic movie. Not that I'm particularly bothered. I mean, it would be nice, but so would Ron Gilbert finally getting the Monkey Island ip. At some point you've got to accept that it isn't going to happen, and stop caring.

Ah, the game that's influenced me most.
There's a few. The oldest one I can think of is Day of the Tentacle, which is pretty much the entire reason I'm even here on this forum.
There's also Deus Ex that influenced my perceptions on First Person Shooters, and Thief that influenced my perceptions on horror in video games. More recently there's been Dwarf Fortress, which has influenced my perception of the Fantasy Genre, as well as roguelikes, and what a game can be in general.

But I think the one that's influenced me the most, is always a fairly new one. Lakeview Cabin Collection, pretty much began my love of the Slasher genre. Not only that, but I absolutely fell in love with it's gameplay, which is basically a sandbox adventure game with survival horror elements.
When I played that game and completed it, I actually went about trying to figure out how it was coded! Even going so far as to deduce where I could find bugs with which to exploit! That's how much I fell in love with that game!
That was a weird five hours now that I look back on it.

Playing The Dark Mod, with an apple flavoured energy drink, while it's dark outside, and systematically killing everyone in the level.
...
I'm not joking. This is very relaxing for me.

cut a new trailer without Gangster's Bloody Paradise

(laugh) (laugh) Amen to that. Although them including Gangsta's Paradise had me laughing harder than I have laughed in years. My wife thought I was going to have a heart attack. It's just --how can they fail on so many levels?  (laugh) (laugh)

They should change it to Amish Paradise. It would be way more fitting.  :-D

To destory the world. They may not know how to spell it, but already focus on it.
I like the drawing too.

This seems, I don't know, suspicious? Like their writing is better than mine yet they can't even draw stick figures? Plus they all seem to have the same handwriting. Is there just a staff member writing out the words that really can't spell?
Hmm, based on how the kids wrote their names, I guessing that the text at the bottom such as "I want to destroy the world" and such, are already printed on the page. And the kids just had to draw in the box what that looked like to them. Or perhaps a teacher wrote it in for them. In either case, I'm saying an adult did it, which makes the misspelling rather shameful.  (wrong)

Can you use the newest runtime with old compiled games made by other people?

Yes, this is also how people run old AGS games on other systems (Linux etc).
On Windows you simply copy acwin.exe to the game directory and run it. To use modern setup program run "acwin.exe --setup" from command line.
Optionally it's also possible to edit config by hand, using these instructions: https://github.com/adventuregamestudio/ags/blob/ags3/OPTIONS.md

Although some can look a bit off without proper configurations that you have to do by hand, due to how fonts are rendered.
And of course it doesn't run those really REALLY old games, like Larry Vales. At least in my experience.

That said, as noted it would also look bizarre to have more cartoon styled Sonic, with the mono-eye and the hairless arms.
Could you imagine if people thought like that, back when Who Framed Roger Rabbit was made?
The truth is, you can make a semi-realistic looking Sonic, that sticks with the original design, and have it fit in. I can point to countless examples which prove that. The latest being Detective Pikachu. But to really hammer in my point, you ever seen that old fanmade Sonic movie? He didn't look too out of place there. What about Sonic 06. Say what you will about the story and the gameplay, but you've got to remember they stuck Sonic into a realistic setting, and when he's side by side with the realistic looking Eggman and whatever that princess was called, he fitted right in.
So no, it wouldn't look bizarre to have a more cartoon styled sonic in a live action film.

What is bizarre though, is having Sonic in a live action film to begin with.
It should have been full CGI. Imagine the camera work you could've done with that, and all the other cool unrealistic stuff! Think Into the Spiderverse.
It just simply would've looked better in full CGI, like the Ratchet and Clank film.

imho there isn't an audience for a Sonic movie to start with. This isn't TMNT or Transformers.
You're probably one of a small handful of people to actually say that.
I'd even go as far as to say there's more of an audience for a Sonic movie than there is for a new Transformers movie.
Besides, there wasn't an audience for a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but that did brilliant. I mean, who here even heard of Guardians of the Galaxy before that movie! I certainly didn't, and I know about The Sentry! Do you know who The Sentry is? An alien, powered by the sun, big S on his chest. No not superman, The Sentry! He's Marvel! Come on.

But all of this is moot. Because as I've said before, I'm glad they took all of the wrong decisions, with how bad this film will no doubt be.
I just hope it'll be so bad that it's good, and not just bad. But the trailer managed to pull if off, maybe the whole film can.  :-D

Am I the only one who is kind of looking forward to this film, because of how bad it looks?
It almost looks like a parody of itself! I mean just look at Sonic! Surely most of the team working on the movie saw how bad that looked, yet continued working on it anyway. Either the team realizes this is going to be terrible, and are rolling with it, or the stars have aligned in such a way that bad corporate decisions are making the best bad movie in existence!
It's like Sega saw the old Mario movie, and thought "Hey! We could make ours even less relevant to the game!"

And casting Jim Carrey as (let's face it) Jim Carrey, just adds to that self-parodying look it has going for it.

I hope they keep the terrible looking Sonic! I'm glad they brought in Jim Carrey and made him look nothing like Robotnik (or Eggman if you prefer).
I want this film to be up there with The Room, as a legendary bad film, that people put on to watch on April fools day or something.
If they try to fix anything now, they're just going to make it bland, boring, and forgettable. Like every single video game movie out there. At least this way, they have a chance to make something memorable.
