Also, for the scrolling game name, you can use the Scrolling Credits plugin, but you'll have to do some scripting with that one. Or you can create an image file of the game title and import it into your SPrite Manager, then animate it in-game.

I am currently using WMV video in my game. It works fine on all the systems I've tested it on so far.
The problem could be in your video size or the form of WMV compression you are using. If you are using Windows Movie Maker, I suggest you use "Video for broadband film content 768kbps", and play back the video using the scaled video script in AGS.

Don't know if this is the place to post it, since I'm advertising our own site, but we have some freeware non-adventure games available at http://www.freehostz.com/darctyde/downloads.htm.

There are 3 RPGs and 1 action game available for download.

This will be a serious thriller, a sorta rehash of the old gothic horror novels. Also, I am planning to keep the same type of atmosphere as I did in the first game (which was sadly made on the Unlimited Adventures engine, and you can't play Ravensmere 1 game without having Unlimited Adventures), which is sinister and at times outright scary. Of course, there is also a fair amount of humor in the game.
There will be no battle engine in the game, as you will have to use your wits to get out of bad situations with the undead and the like.
I have also added some WMV video sequences to the game, so anyone with Windows Media Player will be able to view them without any special codecs.
The game is very much inspired by the "Phantasmagoria" and Gabriel Knight series of games.

After hearing the great quality of music already submitted, I find myself wondering why I'm even bothering to enter this short 1:11 minute midi file. I wanted it to be longer, but I ran out of ideas.

Thanks, Dark ofNight. I basically make my songs initially as IT files, then use Modplug to export to midi, after which I use Magix to do some midi editing.

This is the main theme (For the time being) for my new AGS game "Ravensmere". It's not one of my best, but I'd like to hear what you guys think.

Thanks a lot, guys. It works like a charm, Scorpiorus. You've really helped me a lot. (Going into my thanks list)

Signing up as a wildcard.

I can help out in story design , music, and perhaps art (if you're into 3D backgrounds).

You are Alex Connor, a 25 year old guy, who along with his friend Aldon Roberts and the psychic Sarah Saunders have formed a paranormal studies group.
After going on a solo case in England, Alex returns home to find a distressing message from Sarah on his answering machine.
Alex tries to contact Sarah and Aldon without any luck. Soon he learns that while he was abroad, the other part of the team went to go investigate strange happenings in a town called Coven Falls.
He soon discovers that there's more to the sleepy town of Coven Falss then meets the eye, and uncovers dark secrets of the past, and the sinister history of Ravensmere Manor, an old 19th century mansion on the outskirts of town.

This game is the Adventure sequel to my 1999 RPG "Ravensmere: The first Terror".

(UPDATE)
Hey all.

Just wanted to let you know that the game will be on hold for a while, since I upgraded my computer and my current version of 3D Studio Max doesn't seem to like AMD processors.

So, yeah. I'll have to pause the game production until I can get 3DS working on the new system. (I can't afford to buy a newer version of 3DS).

Will keep you all posted on when the project will continue.

Thanks so far guys.
Well, Scorpiorus,  I do store the information in string variables. By relevent information I mean that the journal should only show what the character has learned so far about the case.
This next screenshot shows my problem.

The second entry should not be available yet. I've switched of that GUI option on game start but it still shows up. I'm seriously looking for a way to fix this, since the journal is a very important tool in the game.

Hey guys.
I'm currently working on a game that implements a journal. The main idea is a Journal GUI which pops up after you click the Journal button on the main GUI.
What I can't seem to figure out is a way for the Journal GUI to only show the relevant information after you have gotten the information from a source in the game.
I have all my variables set up, but can't figure out how to display only the relevant messages on the GUI. Do I use labels?
Please, if someone could help me with this, I would appreciate it very much.

Hey all, I'm a 26 year old game designer from Pretoria, South Africa. I've been designing and programming my own games since 1986. I am the lead vocalist and songwriter of a Goth band called "Disciples of Sorrow", and a writer of fantasy fiction. I enjoy Anime, RPGs and Adventure games. I've been using AGS since a very early DOS release, but I only joined the forum today. Go figure.
Well, good to meet you all, and I hope I can someday be an asset to the AGS community.
