Rob Blanc I was the first AGS game I played when I first downloaded an early AGS DOS version many years ago. I was looking for games made in AGS and Rob Blanc was the only one I could find at the time. I really enjoyed it, though.

I'd say Terminator 2. Not just for the great special effects for its time, but also because in this movie the terminator himself became more human. He learned about human emotion and caring about others, not just following his programming. You could actually relate to the metal man in a strange way.  In the other two movies the terminator really lacked personality in my oppinion.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

That's the one.

You will not believe how grateful I am to you for giving me the name. Now I can finally relax.

Hey all.
I've been trying to remember the name of an old arcade game for more than a year now.

The game featured you as a guy in a red spacesuit with boosters in his boots for higher jumps.
You could choose between various planets which you could explore. The last planet was something that looked like the death star from star wars.
I played this game in the late 80s/early 90s at a shop near where we used to live.

Please, this is torturing me. Can anybody help me out?

General Discussion / Re: The end of a myth

Well, I just wanted to add something....

There are so many different trains of thought in the science world, several very different theories about various mysteries of the world, the past and life in general. Very often these trains of thought get derailed by proof from scientist who took a completely different stance on the same subjects.
A few years later the previously debunked theory might then again come to fore with new proof that they were right all along. It's a vicious circle.

What I'm trying to get at is that science is not infallible, since human beings aren't infallible.

Remember the carbon dating test? It was supposed to be a highly accurate test to date unearthed artifacts. Well, several years ago they used it on a modern day cow and the results showed the cow was thousands of years old!

Also, several years ago medical scientists said that it was healthier to use margerine rather than butter, since butter had a higher calorie count. Several years afterwards a new study showed that in general, it doesn't matter which you use, since the two weighed up roughly at the same amount of calories.

People have theories and ways of proving their theories, but this is many times also true for the people who have opposing views (and also have proof to sustain their views).

To conclude, I'll just say that science has given us many truths, but every now and then these truths are shattered by the results of a new experiment. It is up to us to decide what we believe and what we don't.
We could decide to force our views onto others because we KNOW we are right and the other person is wrong, but that other person might again have proof to show that THEY are right, so it's a useless struggle at times.

All I have left to say is stick to what you believe in, but be open to the possibility that some things you believe might get debunked in an instant, or something that you always thought might be true might just suddenly be proven by the result of some ne scientific discovery....

Thanks for the critisism, I really appreciate it.

As to the shoulder "clipping", it's actually a tear in the mesh. If you take a closer look you'll see that the shoulder mesh is still beneath the shirt, and doesn't actually poke through the top. But I can see how it could look like clipping.

To answer Mr_Frisby, I use poser in conjunction with 3D studio Max. I agree that the self-shaded one looks better, but as I said previously, it could cause problems if you have light sources somewhere els in the room. It would look real strange in-game.

Once again, thanks for the critisism. I'll try to work out the snags.

Ok, an update on the walk graphics, now without the self-shading.

as opposed to the old poser walk graphics:

Well done on your previous three Ben Jordan games. It's exactly the type of adventure game that I love. I wait in anticipation for the next great chapter in this brilliant series.

Keep up the good work!

Ooops! Yeah, thanks for pointing that out. It could cause quite a problem if the light source is somewhere else.

Also, I chose to steer clear of hard shadows, since it could cause some problems if the character were to enter that area, since AGS' regions only look at where the character is standing, and you can't partially tint a character.

This is the main character of the game Ravensmere. I thought that I needed to update his character graphics a bit, so I redid him.

NOTE: The shirt is supposed to be torn.

And also a better view of him:

Well, let's see...

I am 27 now, graduated with an average of 97% at the computer college I went to in 1996, and to this day I am still looking for a programmking job, since all the places require you to have at least 2 years experience.

My question is: How the heck do they expect you to build up experience if everyone wants people with experience? Can't they just give guys a break?

Thanks a lot! The game will take quite a bit still before I'll release a demo, since I'm working on the ATC at the moment, but I'll let you know when it's ready. I think it might take 2-3 months for the complete game to be released.

InCreator, The rooms are are 3D renders. And thanks, I'll try that method.

Great job, MoodyBlues! Well, the competition is now officialy on the way. Seven days to go...
#97
Please do. We need submissions for the contest to officially start.

Try making a dummy object which is initially invisible. Then set the animation view to your swinging animation. Make your character invisible at the start of the swing, then activate the dummy object. Move the invisible character to the next window. When the animation stops, make your character visible again. Getting the timing right might be a problem, and you'll also have to script your character's movement so that blocking doesn't matter.
There might be a better way of doing this, but this is the way I do it.
Hope it helps.

Wish I could help you here. I've been using Photoshop for several years now, and never once have I used the ellipse tool. I make most of my ellipses with an elliptical selection area, then use a stroke of a specified thickness on the selection. (I don't like shape layers.)
