Alright guys, back on target please (though I do enjoy Moonlight Sonata)!

My vote would go for Ireland.

My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Europe this summer and it would be awesome to connect it to Mittens. We are planning on starting in Scotland so if Mittens was in Ireland that connection would be easier for us (selfish).

Holland would be awesome too, but I vote for Ireland!

I've always wanted to make an adventure game based on Dead Like Me.

Quote from: Khris on Tue 04/01/2011 15:30:40The amazing thing though is that no matter how often they are wrong, they somehow manage to quietly drop the old prediction and move to the next future date, and they still get earnest media coverage and followers.

This is the thing that has always bugged me.  I can remember, in my life-time, several "end of days" dates that came and went.  It seems as if, studying history, that every generation seems to be certain sure the "end is coming!!"

And yet here we sit after all the surety.

I think when computer power becomes strong enough and we can read human DNA like computer code we'll find that there's a global variable; human.endofworldparanoia==1.

Maybe then we can switch it off and stop this moronic desire to witness the end of the world.

But ... but ... the Mayans said 2012!!!  Yes they did.  They also believed people before them were made of leaves.

I like it over-all ... but I would suggest spending some more time on the keyboard.  It doesn't really look like any keyboard that I've seen.  Maybe if you just remove some keys in some areas and make others "longer" (enter, backspace, shift, spacebar, etc) it would really improve the image I think.

Yeah this doesn't belong here!  Please read the Forum Rules!

Seems like you might want to post in the Recruit a Team thread.

Okay ... let me know when/if you're ready to follow the forum rules and I'll unlock this for you (send me a PM with "working" versions of the screenshots).

I would also ask if the shot that is working is an "in game" shot?  There's no player character, GUI, status bars, cursors, etc.

I agree with 2 of the 3 you mention Darth (not watched BSG yet)

Do yourself a [huge] favor and watch it!  I'm currently re-watching the entire series (Tarah got it for me on bluray for Christmas) and it's even better the second time through!!

Quote from: ProgZmax on Wed 29/12/2010 05:07:44This actually happens at the police station but you were close enough to earn the Sledge Awareness perk, which grants you +1 manliness in all situations.

The Sledge awareness perk!  I love it!

Sticking with 2010 I'd still have to drop good ol' BSG (it ended this year). But as I think is [very] apparent I'm a bit of a fan-boy (and proud of it) :)

My three favorite show/series (surprised nobody has mentioned them)

Firefly
Probably won't be a "classic" because it's achieved "cult" status instead.  But what, really, is the difference?  It's the best.  Ever.  Thanks to narrow minded (idiots) at Fox who, in their infinite wisdom, put the show on Friday night and decided to air it out of order, we only got a 1/2 season of the show.  Freakin' morons.

Band of Brothers
Another notch in HBO's belt.  Incredible character development, deep emotional content (not just a war picture) and based on real events of the "greatest" generation.  Probably doesn't appeal to some 'cause it's American but such close-mindedness is okay (as long as you're not an American)

Battlestar Galactica
SOOOOooooo much more than just sci-fi.  Deals with religion, politics, society/culture, race, tolerance, I could go on!  It's amazing television and, I should say, is the only show to ever make me stand up and cheer involuntarily (end of the new-Caprica episodes ... you know what I'm talking about).

Hilarious to see somebody mention Sledge Hammer.  I still remember the scene where he was at the hospital because a lady's baby was kidnapped and the woman says, "I haven't even give him a name" and Sledge says, "How about Rob?"  Timeless.

I would probably have mentioned ALF because the humor is still golden.  However given the [horrible] 1980s object lessons crammed into every episode and the will they/won't they end-it-cut-off-final-season-cliff-hanger I think it's more in limbo (for me).

I combined the two posts (no need to double-post).

Please ensure that both screenshots are displaying.

You might also want to read the forum rules and the example thread and update your post with a little more detail.

Congrats on finishing it.  Post an announcement in the Completed Games board to let the world know!

I have heard of (and love) this theory!

I had this idea for a story/game once where the world was coming undone (strange holes in reality, cities/people just vanishing, details (such as paintings, art, etc) being lost) ... and as you play out the game you figure out the reason for this is because your "world" is actually the Tenth World.  What had happened was that a person (in First World) created a simulation of a world (Second World) and then as those people advanced their technology they then created another world (and so on) and by the time it got to your world (the Tenth World) the combined computational power needed to drive all the worlds was too much for the first world's computer system (which is driving it all) to keep up with so your world is crumbling.  The game was called "The Tenth World" and you had to find a way to travel to the other worlds and figure out a solution to saving them all.

I never took it past the idea stage (and I'm sure somebody out there has thought of something like it before) but I thought at some point it'd be a fun game to make.

I think the world needs to take a collective deep breath and get over this trivial bullshit.

All the major religions want to preach "tolerance" and "peace" and yet we have to endure such P/C idiocy at this time of year.

It's one of the main reasons I loathe organized religion.

"We love/tolerate our [insert religious group] brethren ... just not enough to let them celebrate their holidays."

Just more religious ignorance.

What everybody should do is shut the fuck up and enjoy the free/paid days off from work.  I sure do.

Put down the acid and read the forum rules

They are the cleverly hidden thread, in bold, all caps, at the top that say, "FORUM RULES".

Easy to miss.

Joking aside please update your [1st] post or I'll have to lock this!

You're linking to your hard drive to post a picture.  This isn't going to work.

I'm going to re-lock this.  When you figure out how to post images please send me a PM that includes the screenshots and I'll unlock this thread.

Screenshots updated.

Quote from: voh on Tue 21/12/2010 16:09:30He's got a team now, and an office and stuff. He's not going it alone anymore.

That's good to know.  I realize it's in Beta, which is the only reason I'm not all "it suxxors!!", and I do hope he/them pull it together and fix the issues.

I had [way too many] hours of fun with it in the past and wouldn't mind finding that again!

Quote from: Calin Elephantsittingonface on Tue 21/12/2010 16:40:04Who writes server software in java?

Haha I like Java!  I don't know a lot about it yet (but I'm learning ... my girlfriend is a java programmer and is teaching me).

I know everybody likes to polish this guy's (Notch) knob but I don't think this is an issue with a crappy server,  I think it's an issue with crappy software.

It's a fun little project but I think it got away from him.

I don't know ... after the griefing of Darthville I got seriously put-off of Minecraft.  Even when the server is up (green light in first post) it was still not letting me in and when it did it would drop me out constantly.  The guy needs to take some of the millions he's made and hire a team to fix the game.  Just my opinion.

That's a HUGE bummer man, I'm sorry to hear that!

Let me know if you manage to recover the game files and we can reopen this thread.

Please read the Forum Rules and post two (in-game) screen shots!

takes off moderator hat and puts on Space Quest fan-boy hat (with an astral chicken on it)...

That video is amazing!  Extremely entertaining .... I hope the game is as good!

No worries ... I'll go ahead and lock this.  If you come back to it in the future let me know and we can re-open it.

Good luck on the next venture!
