Messages - Darth Mandarb

You can "whitelist" a server ... so it's only available to people on the list.

About the griefer; we checked the logs for after I was off last night and there was only one person on long enough. However ... we can't be 100% sure it was this person so I hesitate to out them until they speak up and take ownership of this.

There were two signs in the middle of Darthville (by a HUGE stack of tnt) that said "We want 64,000 diamonds or your town gets it!" and "Love XXX - The Terrorists"

This suggests [at least] two people ... but there was only one person on for an extended period of time.  While this is funny it's still pathetic.  ** shrugs ** It's just a game.  It's just sad that some people think it's okay to do things like this.

After checking the logs and seeing that there was only one person on long enough to have laid all that TNT (you know who you are and shame on you) I spent some time removing the TNT ... then we decided to lay down our own TNT and just blow the whole thing up since we're resetting the server this weekend anyway!

Darthville is no more!

Leaf and I survey the destruction we wrought from on high!!

I planted about 400 TNT in my castle (which the griefer didn't touch) and with one flick destroyed the entire thing (it was awesome!)

@Crimson Wizard - if you use water around the tnt the blast hurts nothing.
#1523
Okay ... Dave blowing up a bit of Darthville was funny.  But this:

is not.  WTF?  In case you can't tell ... somebody put TNT everywhere all throughout the place.

Tell me we got griefed and it wasn't one of our users that did this?

I'm going through and putting water around them one-at-a-time (if you put water around TNT the blast destroys nothing).

It must be necro-post day in Da_Elf's world....

Please avoid the Games in Production board Mr. Elf :P
#1525
That's just too funny!

Has the situation been remedied?  I can't login for some reason...

Quote from: Arboris on Tue 26/10/2010 12:44:18Still empty lots in Darthville!

I think the real-estate wasn't quite as "hot" as I anticipated :P

Quote from: Crimson Wizard on Tue 26/10/2010 17:50:19Dire news: since 30th october patch all torches will die over time (could be ignited again by the use of the lighter though); which means one should replace all the torches on important positions by lamps (new light source intoduced in the same patch).

I think this doesn't matter much though 'cause the new patch, as I understand it, would require resetting the server anyway.  So all the work we've done would be lost with the patch.

On a minecraft note here... I took a walk around AGS land last night.  It's really cool what we've created there.  Very neat stuff.

By the way, who is/was building that submarine I found out in the middle of nowhere?

I actually think it's better to get this new guy ... Let's face it (and I know it's shitty to say it) but MJF is almost 30 years older and the parkinsons really messes up his voice/acting.  He doesn't sound like Marty McFly any more.

Even with multiple takes I don't think he could pull it off.  This new guy sounds like Marty from 1985 and I think that's the key here.

I wouldn't be surprised if the game developers were just being polite in saying, "MJF wasn't available for the voice acting" when the truth is probably that they knew it wouldn't sound like Marty from the movies.  I'm sure MJF was open and honest about it too.  He's very forthcoming about the way the disease effects him.

Either way I'm still so pumped for these games.  But I've been disappointed before.  I really hope they don't screw it up.  Bob Gale being involved gives me some major optimism though!
#1528
Yeah that guy's voice is amazingly similar!

The music at the beginning just gives me goosebumps! That's some of my all-time favorite movie music.

I am really curious to see how this plays out and I want some actual [non concept] screenshots dammit!!

The end of the third video ... Doc's, "It's an unusual universe Marty" is totally awesome!

I will be connecting Darthville to the main road very soon!
#1530
Are these actually in-game screenshots?  The first looks like a cut-scene (which doesn't count towards the two required screenshots) and the second shows no cursor, gui, etc.
Thanks for the screenshot update!

The gameplay sounds interesting!

I have created Darthville ... There is some HOT real-estate available for those who can find it and stake their claim!  Property is available for the price of FREE and is on a first come, first serve basis!  Create your own domicile in this unique community!

There are some rules/guidelines for Darthville (duh, it's me!)

1) Do not build outside the defined plots (Plots A-L)
2) Do not build higher than two levels (attics are okay but the roof cannot be higher than the surrounding walls)
3) ONLY build on the "lettered" plots.  All other areas are zoned for city planning!
4) Sorry about this one but no basements :(  (I am planning a HUGE subterranean subway type thing eventually)
5) Pretty please don't alter the walls or other pre-built areas (add on/to, remove, digout, etc) just stick to the plots!
6) Super pretty-please don't build w/ obsidian ... if you build something I must take down I'd rather not have to spend 5 hours doing so :)

Location: AGSCraft Server, from the spawn-point just head N/E and look for the sign:

Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!  Stake your claim in Darthville today!!

There are community chests FULL of materials you can use for your building endeavors.  They are located on the elevated area by the aqueduct!  Just don't take the last of any one element or the community will hunt you down like Freddy Kreuger!!!  Also, don't build up there, just in the plots!! ;)

I'm guessing this is an issue w/ the program (minecraft) itself rather than the server.  Because things were ... reverted?... to a previous state.  I had made tunnel w/ a large road leading out of my walls.  The wall where the tunnel had been carved was solid but when I climbed over the wall and headed to where the tunnel came out of the hill the road/tunnel were still there.  So I just had to do a little blastin... er ... digging to reconnect the two.

Either way I was able to get back most of what I had lost so it's not too big a deal but it was annoying that it was necessary.  I think this is probably just one of the joys of using [paying for] alpha software.
#1533
Something went very wrong :(  Everything is fubar ... did we get sabotaged somehow?  1/2 of what I built is still there, but then 1/2 looks like there was a file corruption (or something).  Some things I dug out days ago are back (including torches I had used while "Digging")

It's like the current file mated with an older file or something....
#1534
Are we down?  I haven't been able to login for some time ... I need me my [minecraft] fix dammit!! ;)
#1535
There is a setting in the server setup where you can limit the over-all range of the map to prevent those with wanderlust from making the map HUGE like that!

My brother plays on a server where they all decided to concentrate on a certain area (to begin with) and some guy got lost and didn't know the "/home" function so he wandered for hours and their carto-map ended up being 90mb and had this insane peninsula branching off of their main area.  None of them want to reset their server as they've spent weeks building their stuff so they're stuck with it.
#1536
No worries Snake ... I think this has run its course at this point.

** turns the key **
#1537
For some reason it keeps crashing on me!  I seem to need to reboot a lot to make it work peacefully with my computer :(
#1538
A few years back I bought an old SNES solely to play A Link to the Past ... that is/was one of the best games on the SNES in my opinion (there were other gems like Secret of Mana/Evermore, Chronotrigger, etc) but there was just something about aLttP.

Anyway ... if you make a fan game; as long as it's actually playable and worthy of the title, yes I would definitely play it.
#1539
You know... normally this is the time where I'd write something about "stay on topic" or "let's get back on topic" but you know what?  I'm just lettin' this one go.

However I would like to take this opportunity to point out to all of you who are going to feed the troll; you are just feeding a troll.

No matter what has been said/done these random games in production keep poppin' up (even though the last 20 haven't been finished that I know of).

If you tell him to use puncuation/grammar it will fall on deaf ears and his posts will continue to be illegible and rambling.

If you make suggestions about graphics/titles, etc it won't matter.  He's got big futures w/ Square Enix ahead!  You're wasting your time.

So I'm just lettin' this one play itself out.  Then I'm going to make it a sticky on "what not to do" ;)

Cheers y'all.

General Discussion / Re: A tie

Got nothing to add about the tie, sorry, I never really liked those kinds of ties!

But:
Quote from: GarageGothic on Fri 08/10/2010 19:26:21You're all wrong, the Tanners lived with ALF!

Such a great show!  My all time favorite exchange:

Kate: Do you remember when you thought Mr.Littwak was building an atomic bomb in his basement?
ALF: It was an atomic bomb.
Willie: It was a pool heather.
ALF: Hah. The Littwak's don't even own a pool.
Kate: Yes, they do.
ALF: They do? Can we go over?

Some truly classic one-liners from that show.  Sure the "message" in each episode tended towards typical 80s campiness but the comedy was (and still is) comic gold!  I watch the episodes from time to time (I have 'em on DVD) and regularly quote it in daily life!

Alas poor Mrs. Ochmonek, I knew her well...
