I've played the free-form one for a bit ... it's oddly satisfying.

I am not going to devote this much time playing it ... even though that's really freakin' cool.

In my opinion it's not that gay [wo]men cannot (or are not capable) of serving/fighting for their country.

The problem is the non-gays in the military being homophobic.

Now yes, they should not be homophobic, but it is still there and is not going to just go away.  America (the world) has had generation upon generation of being raised believing that "gay is bad" (I blame stupid religious crap mostly which has steered society blindly for far too long).  It takes time to remove a preconceived notion.

I don't think the U.S. senate (or the U.S. Military command/Joint Chiefs) should necessarily be labeled as "homophobic" though.  America's military is 100% volunteer based.  If the military becomes "gay segregated" they know their recruitment numbers will diminish because a large portion of their numbers come from impressionable youth comin' out the of "bible blinded" regions of the country who have been brainwashed into believing that gays are disgusting.

They don't want the saying, "putting my ass on the line" to have a double meaning.

The problem as I see it (in regards to DADT) is that Americans (people in the modern world really) are used to "instant gratification" and this issue; the stamping out of prejudice on this subject, isn't something that is just going to magically resolve itself over-night.  If you smother somebody with, "homophobia is bad, gays are people too!" you're just going to cement their beliefs and cause them to dig-in their heels.  This is the case with just about any issue really (from racism, politics, whatever).  People don't like realizing/admitting that their views on a subject are wrong and/or close-minded.  They need time to "see the light".  The solution is to be patient and let it play itself out.  Rome wasn't built in a day.

It's inevitable that the military will be open with gays.  Just the same as with lettin' black dudes in, just like letting women in combat positions, etc.  If a person looks back at American history (and world history for the most part) it becomes obvious that, with situations like this, when people want a thing, and they persevere, they will achieve the thing.  It might take years, but they will get it.  The reason it takes years, usually, is because those people that can grant this thing are having to fight through their prejudices/preconceived notions and it just takes time (or they just get sick of fighting against it and capitulate).

The ironic thing to me is that there have been gays in the military since history has been recorded.  The U.S. military is no exception.  I think a lot of "manly men" would shit their pants if they realized that guy that pulled them outta the foxhole and saved their life likes man-meat in his mouth.  I actually find that pleasing (the fact of an anonymous gay guy saving the life of a straight guy, not the idea of man-meat in my mouth).

I am left-handed and I can answer both questions at once!

I started using computers before anybody cared to make left-handed mice so I'm totally used to using the mouse with my right hand (and in fact feel very "off" trying to use a left-handed mouse)

The style is nice but the lack of depth is a little off-putting.  The shadows are a tad inconsistent as well.

The pipes in the top image appear, because of the shadows, to be sitting well away from the wall (could be intentional) but the door handle (directly under the light source) doesn't appear to have a shadow at all?  Also, the top of the door frame should not be casting a shadow over the door based on the light's position (unless there's another light-source not visible in the picture of course).

The bottom image (bathroom) the stalls appear to be empty as nothing is in the floor reflections visible under the doors as well as the stalls themselves are not reflecting in the floor tiles.  The door/mirror thing (on the right not sure what it was supposed to be) also is casting no reflection and the shadows feel wrong like it's sitting well away from the wall as well.

Last thing is the blood ... it looks more like a gel/blob type substance (because of the shadows again).  The shadows give it height (to my eyes) and (in front of the door/mirror thing) elevation as the blood appears to be floating over the floor.

I know I'm being pretty nit-picky here but you've got a good grasp on the "texture" of the scene ... I think with just a tad more attention to detail these could be really interesting!

anthonyjmf - for the future, please read the forum rules and do not dig up old threads. (also there's no reason to quote the entire post (which I deleted))

The Wacom Cintiq is next on my "must own toys" list ... that thing is sooooooo cool!  But my stupid A/C is on the fritz and will probably have to come first (nowhere near as cool a toy but, shockingly, not much more expensive!)

My major need for a tablet is because I'm left handed and I simply cannot use the mouse with my left hand (for some reason) so "drawing" with the mouse is just not possible for me.  I can pixel fairly well with my right hand but the free-style you can have with a tablet is invaluable for somebody in my position.

junc I hadn't thought of that in a long time (and welcome back?)!  Yeah that was a cool little tablet!

Okay ... this is getting out of hand.

I'm not going to lock this thread because it doesn't break the rules.

For those of you (fanboys or just irritated) who are posting the negativity because of allegiance to the original source material just relax a bit and stop posting in here.  You aren't going to dissuade KQ1X-Team to stop their development (if anything you're making them more eager) and you're just clogging up the thread with off-topic negativity.  I'm not taking sides here but nobody posts this kind of "why are you doing this" nonsense when somebody remakes... say ... police quest or space quest.

I do not want to start pruning these posts but I will if it continues like this.  If you, for whatever reason, take offense at this game and feel the need to voice that, send KQIX-Team a PM to let him know and leave this thread alone.

I find the prospect of playing [any] games on my iPhone less than pleasing ... however, I do have an iPad (and it seems you do too from the pix) and I think it'd be a perfect platform for playing Adventure Games.  Had I any idea how to do a iPad port I would be ALL over it!!

That's one in-game screenshot ... you need to post two.  That character sheet (in AGS) doesn't count as an in-game screenshot.  If you aren't far enough along to have two (as the rules require) you should have waited to post.

Please read the forum rules and update your thread accordingly (IE, get two in-game screenshots posted pronto).

Welcome to the forums and good luck with you game.

Interesting ... he doesn't really say it's him (the actor) but speaks more in the character sense.  If he was saying it was him in the robe it's a tad mysterious because it conflicts with what he says in that youTube video I linked to.  I don't really care either way, it's still a nice scene!

Was it only a week ago that was announced?  Feels like I saw that longer than a week ago but I've been so busy lately my sense of time's passage is a tad skewed!

Quote from: Ascovel on Wed 25/08/2010 23:10:21What do you mean it's not Hamill? He confirmed it's him and, while he might have trouble remembering everything like it really happened, I'd say it really looks like it's him, especially in that final shot from the side.
Dunno ... to me I thought, when first seeing the clip, that it clearly didn't look like him.  Oddly I thought the hand looked like his though.  Then I saw this clip.  I'm not sure where you heard Hamill confirmed it was him; do you have a link for it?

I saw this awhile back ... very cool stuff!  It's a rare thing when something new from the OT pops up that I haven't seen before!  So this was nice.

It's clearly not Mark Hamill under the hood but still, a cool scene filling a little "hole" in the original.  Having seen this, and seeing a video where GL confirms it's legit, I'm kind of anxious to see what else they put in the Blue-ray versions.

I'm pissed though 'cause the Blue-rays are only the Special Editions which means Greedo shoots first ... and that = dumb.  Totally destroys Han's character.
