Quote from: wonkyth on Thu 03/09/2009 00:48:36I signed up last night, and it looks great!
Unfortunately, when I tried going today, I couldn't get onto the site.

I am getting the same error ... not sure why this is poppin' up all of a sudden but I'm fixing it now!

Quote from: Stee on Thu 03/09/2009 01:11:43Is it strictly art only? Or will you be looking to expand to other things (ie coding, writing etc). Im not an artist  :(

MindWinder itself will be dedicated to art ... however, I have built the site with the intention of making other sites of the same "mold" that are for different niches.  So there's always a possibility of another mind-winder type site poppin' up in the near future!

Quote from: LGM on Thu 03/09/2009 01:18:35I will break your site.

It may sound funny ... but please do!!  It's the best way to make the site the best it can be!  Please ... find as many bugs, errors, and issues as you can!  And post about it in the forums (there, not here!)

Thanks for the interest guys!  The more the merrier!

I'm bumping this thread to post an update...

After a few months off for personal reasons (I bought/renovated a house) I am ready to kick-start this project again.  I've made some updates and have reached a point where, barring actual use by people, I don't know where to take it next!  So ... I'm opening it up to all users who would be interested.

I've started some new contests (the point of the site) for people to enter.  Feel free to sign up (always free of course!) and enter a contest or two.

MindWinder Beta

Keep in mind this is a BETA release ... I'm looking for errors and bugs and the like.  If you stumble across anything that throws an error or just doesn't seem right to you, please post about it on the forums there!  Even if it's something you feel is trivial!  I want to improve on the site as much as is possible!  The more feedback the better!  Also, please understand that I am still working a full-time job daily and still doing some reno to the new house so my participation won't be as great as it was last round of beta testing but I will address all issues as quickly as possible!

Thanks to all who want to help out!

P.S. - To all my first round of Beta testers you have no been forgotten!  And one of you is still going to receive a special prize for being my best tester :)

Please find reliable hosting for your images and please read the forum rules and update your post so it follows them or I'll have to lock this!

Thanks.

1. Do you feel anger towards Scotland and should it be punished for letting a convicted terrorist free?

I feel no anger towards Scotland nor do I think Scotland should be punished.  It would be ignorant to form one's opinion(s) on an entire country based solely off the actions of the leaders/politicians of that country.  If he is guilty I do not think he should be released solely because he's terminally ill but, as Rick suggested above, there's [most likely] far more at play than a simple act of mercy to a dying man.

2. Does the fact that many Scottish relatives of those who died think that al-Megrahi didn't actually do it make any difference?

To me it does make a difference.  If the man was not involved, he shouldn't have been in jail in the first place.  However, if he had even the smallest involvement in the act, he was where he belonged (in prison).

3. Do you think anyone should ever be released on compassionate grounds?

I try to avoid absolutions ... but if you don't want to die in prison, don't commit a crime that sends you there.  There are always circumstances of course but I like to think that there are far more guilty people behind bars than there are innocent/wrongly convicted people.

4. If a US citizen is imprisoned abroad (e.g. the lady caught "en flagrante" on the beach in Dubai) , would you support the goverment trying to get them repartiated, perhaps to serve out their term in a US prison?

Again this depends on the circumstances.  If the person was on vacation and was trying to smuggle drugs back (or something like that) I say let 'em rot in the prison of the country that caught them.  As I said above; if you don't want to go to prison, don't commit the crime.  However ... if they walked on the grass where they weren't supposed to or are being convicted of something (that in the US) isn't a crime I suppose I might take objection to it.  Always circumstances though.

5. If something is the right thing to do, does a bunch of Libyans turning al-Megrahi in to a hero on his return change its rightness?

Depends on why they are turning him into a hero.  If they are turning him into a hero 'cause he killed all those people and they think he's a hero for it then, to my mind, it's a disgusting example of animal behavior.  If they are idolizing the guy 'cause they think he didn't do it (the terrorist act) and he's returning home after 20 years of false imprisonment then I don't see a problem with it.  Although I don't really see how being falsely imprisoned, dying of cancer, and then being sent home on compassionate grounds earns him 'hero' status.

Might warrant a "welcome home" sign though ... maybe a party?

FREEDOM FRIES
Yes, this was ignorant.  However, this planet is shrouded by clouds of ignorance, they don't just float over the United States.

STOP

Take the off-topic discussions into PMs please.

Are these actually "in game" screens?  Because I see no player character(s), no GUIs, or no cursors?
#1827
Hang in there amigo.

I've been in a [near] identical situation before.  It hurts, even though you're doing what you know is for the best, you are hurting somebody very special to you and that just sucks.

I love Lore to the end of the world and back (so I didn't mind the text messages at 2am this morning!).  I don't want to see her hurt.  But, like the ultra-wisdom you quoted above, in the end you'll hurt her more by staying with her for the wrong reasons.

Hi Calin!  Glad to see this is actually in production!  However, as part of the forum rules two IN-GAME screenshots are required (as cut scenes and title screens don't count!)  I'm not going to lock this yet, but please add another IN-GAME screen ASAP!

Good luck.
#1829
As part of the rules, title screens and/or cut scenes don't count towards the required two in-game screeshots!  Please post (edit your first post to include) another IN-GAME screenshot.

Thanks!

Quote from: Nathan on Thu 20/08/2009 22:14:03Define the question then figure out the answer.

It's the science v. religion debate.

There is no question, and there is no answer.

If you can define the question then maybe you are God?

I think if you put together a story/plot, some "rough" art, and some more audio samples like that (and post in the Recruit a Team - need help thread) I'm sure you could find an artist willing to help.

The story you hinted at in the dialog isn't really too original (to start with), but it still works and pulls you in.  Tied in with great audio (as you've shown you're capable of) it would be enough to make me interested in doing some artwork (if I had any free-time and wasn't working on 2 or 3 of my own projects!)

Anyway ... keep on keepin' on.
#1833
That's actually pretty darn good.  It's a bit dead-pan but it works very well.  If the game style/play matches that tone you've got a winner on your hands here.

Well done.
#1834
Please provide two in-game screenshots as the Forum Rules require or I will have to lock this...

Thanks

Since there is only one room this will suffice, thanks for the update.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Help me chose style!!!
Tue 18/08/2009 18:58:56
I fail to see how animating the hi-res would be more difficult than the low-res in this case.  Both have limited pallets and would animate nicely (just my opinion).

My personal preference here leans towards the hi-res version.  It has a very "Full Throttle" feel to it and I loved that style.

I too am not a fan of the anime/manga genre but I agree is not the genre really, but the artist that makes it worth (or not worth) looking at!

Welcome markhep!  As has been said (I preened the thread so they no longer say it) if you could please update your first post to actually include the screenies that would be great! (not just links to the screenshots, but actually post them using the [ img ] tag (with no spaces))

Check the example thread, the forum rules, and other sticky threads throughout the forums to "get a feel" for how things work!

Again, welcome, and good luck with your game!
#1837
Please post two in-game screenshots (I recognize the little circles are probably images from in-game but I doubt you play the game in a little circle!)  At the very least make the little circles link to actual screenshots.

Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: farewell John Hughes

I, too, was very saddened by this news.

His movies were a staple of my childhood.  I learned how to use (and consequently got grounded for it) the word "dildo" because of The Breakfast Club.  My brother and I still quote many of his movies on daily basis!

Now he's hanging with Uncle Buck somewhere ... not such a bad gig I suppose.

Eddy_Kraft - Thanks for updating your post!  if you want/need critics on your art, graphics, etc.  Please post in the Critics Lounge.  That's what it's there!

Now ... ** cracks whip ** back on topic people!!!
#1840
This is not the critics lounge ... if you want/require help with the graphics post in there!
