I would be very interested in attending as my last trip to London consisted only of the tube from Heathrow to the train station!

Might even give Team Hasselhoff some inspiration to kick Amulet of Kings back into full-speed!

As for public speaking ... well I'm not opposed to it but I'm not good enough (or knowledgeable enough) about anything worth discussing at such a venue :)  I could do an interpretive dance maybe...

Quote from: Nacho on Sun 04/01/2009 16:24:06When has the show become politically oriented? And oriented to which side? (Just asking) "Here" the show is not politically oriented yet, but probably someone is watching a season I haven' t seen yet.
I think he was referring to Penn & Teller ... Mythbusters is the farthest thing from policital.

The images are STILL not loading for me! :)

If you want, you can email me the images and I can host them for you on my server!

Also, just guessing, but the first image (as you have it placed) would appear to be a "promotional" poster and thus there's only one screenshot.  Please fix the image hosting issue and ensure that there are two IN GAME screenshots as required by the rules!

Thanks!

I love the show as well ... however, the recent seasons are getting away from "myths" per-say but it's still a great show.

I just love that two uber-geeks were given a show where they don't have to pretend to be ANYthing ... they can just be the glorious geeks they are!!

I don't really like Grant or Tory (though they are growing on me I guess) because they are geeks, but they try to be cool and just can't pull it off (it feels phony to me) but I LOVE Kari!!  I can watch her all day.

I just watched the episode where they tested Beer Goggles and Adam wiped out on the treadmill ... too freakin' funny.

I think anybody that was at "that place in Poland" will truly understand this newest comic and those that weren't there will still get the message.  LOVE the lack of any creatures and only the text.

Well done ... you captured "that place" perfectly without being inappropriate in the slightest.

Quote from: hofmeier on Tue 30/12/2008 23:33:391. Obviously, this joke really only works when retold verbally. The "your" vs "you're" device is what makes it work, so when you read the joke, it's broken.

Actually ... given the sickeningly vast number of people that can't grasp the concept of "your" vs. "you're" I wouldn't be surprised that the written joke is pretty much as effective as the verbal one.  For a [vomit inducing] example of this ... just hop around youTube for awhile reading the comments on some posts.

A small boy is found on the stoop of a convent.  The nuns decide to keep the child and raise him in the convent with no contact with the out-side world.

Finally, on the boy's 18th birthday they decided it was time he saw some of the world so they let him go by himself into the town.

As he's wandering around the town on his own a hooker approaches him and says, "hey baby ... I'll give you a blowjob for 50 bux!"

Totally bewildered the boy later returns the convent and the head nun says, "welcome back ... did you enjoy your time in the town?"

The boy replies, "Yes but I have a question.  What's a blowjob?"

The nun's eyes widen for a second.  She looks around and then whispers, "50 bux ... same as in town".

What if the president of spain suddenly cut the minimum wage, killing people for being too tall and put himself in direct charge of the military?

No, no, let's wait four years, see what happens, he might be going somewhere with this.

I think you're misunderstanding Nacho's point!

I see (and, for the most part, agree with both sides).

If you voted "yes" to cut minimum wage, kill tall people, and put the president in charge of the military then yes, you should deal/live with it for four years (or until the next election).

However; If you voted for tax cuts, more jobs, and an increase in the minimum wage and then the president puts himself in charge of the military, cuts minimum wage, and then starts killing us tall folk then yes, of course, you should do something about it.

I don't like playing games.  I'm very direct and up-front.

My last approach played out like this:

I approached.
Me: "Hi... Jeremy" (emphasis on my name so she knew I was saying basically "I'm Jeremy")
Her: "Susanne."
Me: "Married?"
Her: "nope."
Me: "Boyfriend?"
Her: "nope."
Me: "Dinner?"
Her: ** giggle ** "Sure!"

Granted after 10 more minutes of conversation I realized I had made a mistake and conveniently wormed my way out of the previously mentioned dinner.  But still ... it worked.

The direct approach, no games, no bullshit ... it's always worked for me.

Now if I could just learn how NOT to be so damn picky I might actually hold onto a relationship.

Is there a book for that?? :P

In those three years you clearly didn't have time to read the forum rules :P

Please do so and PM me (do not start another thread) when you're ready to comply!

Thanks!

I like to think that this kid would have known better on his own ... but it's always the case that individuals are smart, groups of people (mobs) are stupid.  People find themselves caught up in the mob-mentality and doing things that, on their own, they'd never do.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I have been in a vehicle surrounded by "hostiles" before ... it's a totally helpless and scary situation.  You can't get out of the car, but you feel like you can't stay in the car either.  You never want for wings so badly!

Quote from: Nikolas on Mon 08/12/2008 15:32:34It is, however, rather truthful that in most parts of the world you don't expect to walk towards a car, with no weapon on you and get shot dead...  :-\ It certainly was stupid but it does appear that they were 'taunting' the police, rather than anything else. They were a group of around 30 youths, having too much fun and being morons...

A civilian car sure, I would agree... but a police car though, as part of a mob?  It was just a stupid thing to do.  I think a wild lion is cute but I'm not going to approach it and start petting it no matter how justified I might feel in doing so.

I wish they were releasing more information ...

I'd be curious to know if the officer that fired the stun weapon was in possession of the only "less than lethal" device in the car (night-sticks are useless in the confines of a vehicle and mace and/or pepper spray would (at those ranges) have had the same effect on the officers).  I'd also like to know if the officer that killed the kid thought he was firing "warning" shots.  When there's a mob surrounding you it can be difficult to find open air to fire deterrent shots.

I'd also to be curious to know if all the mob participants were actually weaponless (bats, sticks, pipes, etc count as weapons)  I find it unlikely that they were. I mean if they were willing to mob around a cop car I'm sure they were holding some kind of weapons, but that's just a hunch on my part.

Stay safe Nik!!

The victim's friends will, of course, say that the cops straight-up executed their friend.  They'll actually believe it too (even if it was strictly self-defense on the cop's part they'll never see/admit it).  The media will, of course, take the side of the story that is more dramatic and spin it from that angle.

I think it sucks that the young fella lost his life, don't get me wrong.  But he assaulted a police car ... did he think the cops in the car were going to throw candy at him?  It was a stupid thing to do (no matter what his reason was for doing it) and that level of stupidity had dire consequences.

Hilarious!

One of my sites was 100% written by a woman and two were definitely (97%) written by a man.

Interesting note:
If you enter www.google.com it says "Only works on sites in English"

I think it's an interesting idea...

Just out of curiosity; would you play as a male or female or be able to choose one or the other?

If the player character is a male; I think if it was handled [light-hearted] as a complex puzzle to solve (as GG mentioned) I might find it worth playing.

Now ... if you play as a female and can visit the girls shower-room as often as you want I would definitely play it!

I kid I kid!

It's a touchy subject for many still in the closet (I have a friend that is 30+ and still hides it from his family; though I'm sure they've figured it out) so it could be tricky to find a game-play/plot that wouldn't piss people off.

Having never had the problem of "coming out of the closet" (or being gay in general ... well there was that one time ... but it was a 3rd grade thing) I can't really offer any advice on how to handle it.

I'd be interested to see what you go with.

Perfectly acceptable when it's your own thread.

I am really glad to see this still being worked on... it looks brilliant!

I'm not real knowledgeable about the inner-workings of computers ... but one time I had a computer that the time kept going "off" and it was the cmos battery that needed to be replaced.

Granted it was a much bigger time difference (days, not minutes) but I don't know ... it might be a similar problem here.

I don't see this working well as an RPG either ... Google maps is great and all that but useful as game backgrounds?  I think not!  I mean, a lot of places can't zoom in all the way (don't have detail at this level, blah blah blah) you can't go into any of the buildings, etc.  Making characters walk around that would be problematic I think.

So I just don't see it working very well as a 'game' ... now if you wanted to make some kind of chat program I suppose it could be interesting.  I downloaded an app for my iphone the other day where you can login to it and see where other users are on the globe and that's pretty cool.
