IT'S FIXED!!!

Can't tell you how this pleases me!  I was going to suggest, were it not fixed soon, that we form a lynch-mob and handle this ourselves!  Luckily it seems to be sorted so the aforementioned lynch-mob is not necessary.

I do hope somebody fixes this soon because now I'm not going to be able to sleep until this is resolved!!

1) Please fine reliable hosting for your screenshots (as they still are not working) or this thread will be locked!
2) If the screenshots are not the final versions that will be used in the game you really should have waited before posting (as the production isn't very far along)

Sad to hear the bad news.

DrWhite - do not do that again.  Read the forum rules before posting further.

You need to have two (different) screenshots (in-game ... menues or cutscenes don't count)  please update this soon so I don't have to lock another thread!!

Congrats on finishing!!

Please review the rules...

You have no character art and/or ideas ...

No idea of story and/or plot ...

Only rough sketches for backgrounds that you admit are rough and not final ...

So basically you have an idea to make a test game that you've done nothing for (so far) but throw together some screen shots in one night that aren't "in game" (as there's clearly no characters, guis, dialog, etc)?

I am inclined to think you jumped the gun a bit.  You really should have waited before posting in here.

I'm inclined to lock this until you have more.

Please read the forum rules.

Since the first post was updated recently this is okay ... however, PM or not ... if the author hasn't updated the thread don't dig up old threads.

I'm not going to dive in to this debate but...

I don't see any reason why this should be locked.

This is an Adventure Game forum, yes.

But this is the General Discussion board and it's why it exists.

This is clearly a topic that people feel strongly about.  It hasn't (for the most part) turned to petty insults and childish quips and as such should remain unlocked (just my opinion).  The moderators are doing just fine.

Nacho and I are now going to go hang out in hell for our all our heathen's sins!!! Oh wait ... I meant Valencia :P

Quote from: Stupot on Sun 23/11/2008 10:04:45Funnily enough, Darth, it seems there is already a Left Behind game.  It sounds God-awful though ('scuse the pun).

Yeah I have seen it.  It is GOD awful terrible :)

That's the problem that I have with religious [type] games is they tend to be "tame" or "mild".  Not all I'm sure but the most I've seen.

The movie they made for Left Behind was just horrible!  I never had a lot of respect for Kirk Cameron anyway but holy hell it was horrible!  I don't know if they made more than one 'cause after I [attempted] to watch the first one I promptly lost any desire to see more.

I stayed out of the debate that fired up in this thread (and haven't read the entire thread thoroughly so forgive if I'm repeating anything) but I just wanted to let you know that I actually considered making an adventure game after I read the Left Behind series of books (slightly modified).

I think it could be pretty cool (and I'm not a religious person in the slightest) but I found the concept intriguing enough.

I wouldn't care to play a game that proselytizes (sp?) to me ... but more one that is just based on an idea like that.  Though the problem that I had with the Left Behind series was that even the bad guys never said more harsh language than "damn" and "shoot" which just totally blows its "real-world-this-is-actually-happening" thing for me.  The authors being religious types they didn't use the harsh (realistic) language as they should have (in my opinion).  I would make it very R rated.  I mean ... if you read some of the stuff from the bible it's not exactly PG rated ... there's some downright nasty shit in there.  And the rapture and tribulation aren't exactly kid material either.  Granted I put absolutely no faith/stock in Revelations and/or the Christian idea of Armageddon (the whole book as penned by John of Patmos was an indictment of the Roman empire and their persecution of early christians but that's a whole other debate :))

Now if you're planning on making a game for kids to play in sunday school (or something) I think you'd still find an audience for it (though not likely me or the rest of the godless heathens here-abouts :))  Though truthfully ... it seems to be the case that if you make a good Adventure Game people will play it.

]Love the new font! (btw, why the new font? ;D)

No reason ... just thought I'd try something new :)

Quote from: Nikolas on Tue 18/11/2008 15:19:18But the main thing, for me, is this: This is no traditional piracy! I'm offering my scores FOR FREE on the net, for educational purposes, and for the purpose of supporting the "community", regardless of how big it is. I don't mind distribution, etc.

But I certainly mind someone making money out of it.

Totally understandable!

I wasn't kidding when I said fight the fights you deem worth fighting!  When it comes to me (and my 'stuff' online) I would very rarely attempt to stop the 'sharing' of it.  To me it's like trying to stop a forest fire with spit.  But I openly admit I've chosen battles I knew I wouldn't win before simply because I felt they were worth fighting!

Creative commons or no creative commons this kind of thing is [essentially] un-stoppable on the internet.  "Laws" or not it's the 'net and there will always be those willing to do this type of thing.

It's just the nature of the beast.

If these two sites have your scores I'd wager there are a few others offering 'em up that you don't know about.  Were it me, I'd do nothing about it (as I feel it's a losing battle) but you must fight the fights you deem worth fighting and each of us determines that on our own!

Best of luck though Nic! You know I support you :)

I hope you get it all sorted out!

Critics' Lounge / Re: Background c&c

Ionias and Apocalyptic better expressed exactly what I meant!

The newest version is an improvement!

There's still a feeling of 'off' perspective to me (but as you fill in more details it becomes less noticable).

The varying line thicknesses on some objects is odd (the shirts on the bed have super thick outlines (making them bigger helped!))

I like the new depth on the bed's headboard.

Perhaps ... just feels inconsistent to me (each object doesn't need to share a vanishing point, but each object should have it's own vanishing point)

I dunno ... just looked off to me.  A lack of 'depth'.

I vaguely remember turning 18 ...

The very next year they introduced this new invention called the Wheel!!!

Anyway ... happy birthday!

Two Pieces of Advice from the Wise and Elderly Darth:
1) Just remember ... now when you beat up the hookers you can go to jail for it.  You are, after all, an adult.
2) Being an adult doesn't automatically make you man.  That you must earn.

I have spoken ;)
