For future reference ... if you're not asking for C&C and just want to share (which is great) you should post them in the contribution thread (sticky up top of this board).

Critics' Lounge / Re: Webdesign - Sons of Gaia
Mon 14/01/2008 22:31:30
I agree with not using Arial for the web ... Verdana is the most popular (considered easiest to read) font to use on a website.

The over-all design is very functional.  It's just not very appealing.  It's not off-putting or anything, just lacks any kind of punch to make it more appealing.

I did a quick paint-over with a few ideas:

- punched up the logo font to something more memorable (added some shading to it)
- altered the nav system
- altered the header location and font
- removed the icons
- moved the content around (adjusted margins, padding, etc)
- added a slight background gradient
- outlined the content area
- moved the print option up to the top

Here is the Development File (psd ~2mb) I used (with layers) if you want to see/use what I did!

Hope this was helpful!

Quote from: monkey_05_06 on Mon 07/01/2008 20:14:43So you're saying that if they were using Macs then their tech support guys wouldn't have downgraded their MySQL from 5.0 to 4.1 without warning?

The would never have had to!!  Things just work on Macs ...
#2365
Just email your host and tell them to update their servers to use Macs instead.

EVERYthing just runs better on a mac.

For sure this kind of thing would NEVER have happened on a mac.  They're just more ... intuitive.

Erm... Tetris. :)
It's just one of those games where I can play for some hours if I have nothing to do.

Seconded.

Also ... I'm a Dr. Mario fanatic!

I thought this was going to be another Ben Jordan spoof thread at first ...

My brother's middle name is Christopher ... so I often call him Xopher (I pronounce it Zoe-fur).

I always took Xmas as another example of human laziness, I mean ... it's sooooo much harder (and takes WAY too long) to write Christmas when Xmas just is so much easier!

Another thing I considered was that it fits better on signs so they didn't have to squeeze the longer word 'Christmas' on there.

Then another thought I had was that it was some lame-ass attempt at PC like "happy holidays" or other crap brought on by the fact that this time of year all other whiny religious nuts start bitchin' and moaning about Christmas traditions.  Which makes total sense ... since we have freedom of religion here in the states.  Well ... freedom of religion as long as you're not Christian of course.

This is great news!

Now please post another screenshot as the rules require!!

Quote from: Chicky on Wed 26/12/2007 17:50:05Wow i must have missed the link to this on the ags links page!

Translation: Yeah, most people around the AGS boards know about this already! :P

But thanks for the head's up!

You really should post this in the Offer Your Services thread.  That's where this kind of post belongs :)

Welcome to the forums!!

Yuffy - That's so perfectly diabolical (even if you are just joking).  If you were a few years older (and lived in the states) I would propose to you everyday until you said yes!  Hilarious.

That aside ... it's interesting to see all the different opinions in here about the same situation.

Quote from: Pumaman on Thu 20/12/2007 19:29:44Yeah, it sounds to me like Meredith was just being herself but Anita didn't know her well enough to accept those kind of comments from her. It's funny how two people can say exactly the same thing to you, and one of them can be funny whilst the other is offensive, just depending on how well you know them.

That is exactly what I was going to say.  It's all in the interpretation.

Oh and ... I love side-boob.

I think what Miez meant is that the top part wouldn't be there at all.

In old construction like this, if I'm not way off here, there was no mortar or nails or anything like that.  Weight and gravity did the trick.  So that top part of the support would have nothing to hold it up there like that!

I too thought it looked a bit off, but other than that I'm impressed with the background and really enjoyed this thread!

Oh ... and make the game!

I just skimmed through this thread (at work and can't take the time to read it thoroughly) so I'm not sure if my point has been made yet.

I definitely think we landed on the moon.

The [U.S.] President can't get a blow-job in the oval office without that secret getting out.  I find it very doubtful that a secret/lie as massive as a faked moon-landing could stay a secret for so long.

You can mask budgets and government spending (the billions of dollars spent on the moon-shot), and you can easily create hollywood sets to fake the moon-landing ... but those kinds of things would require/involve a lot of people to put together and, as history has shown us (time and time again) somebody would have spilled the beans.

I don't know ... I don't really see why it's so hard to believe we landed on the moon.  Given all the other things humans have accomplished it doesn't seem so unlikely to me.  Personally I think to even suggest it was faked is an insult to those involved.

AGS Games in Production / Re: RAMPAGE Reborn

That, technically, doesn't count as it's still a menu screen.  However, I'm going to let it slide 'cause I have a special place in my heart for this old game and 'cause there really isn't much more variety to the in-game stuff anyway! :)

Good luck with the rest!

Okay ... I've weened this thread a bit.

Given the lack of replies from the author (and his last-active status) I'm going to lock this before it gets more out of control in here.

police brutality - if you're still out there making this game and ever want to update it let me know via PM (with a link to the thread) and I will unlock it.

Would you, pretty please with a nice red cherry on top (and sugar), post another in-game screenshot (as the rules require).  If not, I fear this thread must be locked and that's the very last thing I want to have happen!

Thanks so much for your understanding and total compliance with the rules and policies here in the AGS Games in Production forum.
#2379
Pretty please, with all kindness possible, post another in-game screenshot (as the rules say).  And perhaps, if it wouldn't be too much to ask, maybe tell a little bit of what the game is actually about?  It would make me oh so happy and content.

Thanks for the update!  I like the graphics.
