Quote from: radiowaves on Fri 14/09/2007 17:00:32And I would shure like to own GMs new hydrogen (and even water!) running High-Wire!

So you want to own a "stupid shit, waste of metal, totally unpractical" vehical?  That just makes no sense!

:P

Personally I find the "cultural" differences in this thread utterly fascinating.  When I look at this:

Compared with this:

To me, it's not even close.  The American car is beautiful with flowing lines that blend ... the Italian car doesn't even come close to the level of beauty!  It looks mashed together to me (actually it looks like a mini-model type thing)!

Some interesting points/opinions all around.

Several (dudes) have commented on not minding at all 'cause they like looking at the women dressed like that.

Now don't get me wrong ... I like the female body as much as the next male heterosexual.  But for my money the old saying "less is more" holds true here.  I like wondering what she's hiding under there!  If it's flaunted (as both these woman were doing) it leaves little to wonder about...

If we continue on the trend we're on, with the clothes becoming less and less, eventually there'll be no need for imagination.  And with Hollywood going the way it is, and music ... I don't know.  It seems like imagination is in danger of going extinct!

Two seperate thoughts I suppose.

Both were allowed on their respective flights.

I am following this story with a little interest ... but it does raise an interesting question in my mind.

On July 3rd (3 July for the rest of the world) Kyla Ebbert was asked to get off a Southwest Airlines flight because her outfit was "too skimpy and revealing".  Here is an article about it (with video showing the outfit):
>> Dressed down for dressing down

Here's a pic:

I watched the video.  The young woman's apparral isn't horrible, but the skirt is pretty darn short and if she moves her legs at all (while sitting) those walking the isles would get a nice show.  She claims they wouldn't, but it's simple geometry, they would.  In the pic above she has pulled the skirt down a bit, using the long shirt to cover her mid-section.  She played all innocent, but I'd be willing to bet that the skirt was actually much higher than she claims.  (just speculation on my part)

I thought nothing much of it, figuring it was just some male, middle aged, love-scorned, and bitter flight attendant coming down on some young hottie.

Then it happened again.

On September 11 (11 September) a young woman named Setara Qassim was asked to "cover up" on a Southwest Airlines flight.  Here is a link to the story showing the outfit (again):
>> Some jet-setters wonder if their outfits will fly

Here's a pic:

This outfit is still a tad revealing, though not like the other one.

I don't know.  A part of me says, "good for Southwest airlines" for finally pointing out how slutty and inappropriate the fashionable "style" has become these last few years.  Then another part of me says, "these women should be able to wear whatever they want"

The first story I really do think the skirt was inappropriate.  It's essentially just underwear and if I were on that flight with my kids (if I had any) I wouldn't want them seeing this young woman's crotch (I would gladly look of course).  The second outfit wasn't so bad I guess. It is a tad revealing I suppose.  I think it's just made more obvious because she has large breasts?

I don't know ... I was just wondering what others think about this type of issue?

Are women/men these days dressing inappropriately?
Does Southwest have the right to enforce a "dress code" on their flights?
Should we, as a global society, "reel" this in?

Am I the only one who cares enough to post about it ;)

Quote from: ManicMatt on Thu 13/09/2007 08:46:22I'd take a photo of the case for you, but the game is at my shop, and I have the week off. What were the odds?!
Mighty convenient indeed ...

I've seen the so-called "videos" of the moon landing ... still doesn't convince me it actually happened!

Stop believing all the hype people!!  It's a myth ... a rumor ... a whisper of a fantasy concocted by game developers!!!

What is the secret?

There is no Loom.

Evil, Nine Toes, and Farl - good choices!! Love the late 60's American muscle!!

For my money:

'69 Camaro

The finest [American] production car ever!  Beatiful from top to bottom! (Evil, the '69 Chevelle Super Sport would be a very close second).

Personally I think Loom is just one big conspiracy ... I've never seen one thing to make me believe that the game actually exists!
#2488
Cool.  Glad we resolved that.  Now let's talk about the game in production

:P
#2489
Glad you're okay buddy.

There's not much more to say really, as this type of thing is becoming all too common.

Take it into PMs guys.

If anybody reading this is like me, you like seeing the "new" icon by the competition threads ... you open them in eager anticipation of seeing new entries only to see CONTINUOUS jabbering about nothing.  This is a competition!!  Keep the chatter out!

I often look at the Mac/PC debate like the automobile industry.  The PC is like a Honda Civic and the Mac is like a Mercedes Benz.  Both do essentially the exact same thing, neither (in my opinion) really outdoing the other, the Mercedes just looks prettier while doing it and costs a lot more.

There is a thread; Recruit a Team, for posting ideas and seeing if anybody is interested in joining your team.  We've discussed it in depth before and we can't have every person that is looking for help posting a new thread about it.  If you have an idea that you'd like to talk about, you can use the Adventure Related Chat & Talk board.  But for posting some stuff you've done and requesting help, use the first thread I linked to.  It's really where this belongs :)
#2493
Okay ...

Everybody calm down and take a deep breath.

Neutrino - this is the general discussion board.  While that name can be a bit misleading, it isn't really for stuff dealing with games/adventures.  It's more for stuff not dealing with that.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, which is great, but 'round these parts you need to stick around awhile and "prove" yourself before most are going to be willing to jump on board to help out.  There is a "Games in Production" board for posting stuff about games being worked on.  However, you really must adhere to the rules in there or the psycho that moderates it will come down on you ;)

This is a good place to frequent ... but we can be a tough shell to crack for n00bs.  Stick around, enter a few competitions, put together a small "starter" game, learn, grow, etc.

Oh yeah ... Just some advice; when a moderator locks your thread, don't open a new one about the same thing ;)

Best of luck!

Quote from: tube on Sun 09/09/2007 11:58:28The reason Windows is so virus prone is simple. Most people run Windows, which is why the losers who write new viruses (virii?) target that platform. There are infinitely more Windows viruses around than there are Linux or Mac viruses, ergo Windows users have more problems.

Exactly the point I've been making for years.  Which is why I just laugh my ass off when mac-snobs say "yeah ... I don't run anti-virus.  Just don't need it."  I cannot wait for the first mac-virus that wipes out all their super-secure systems!  Which then makes me feel like a hypocrit 'cause I want to torture/maim all virus writers for the scumbags low-life pieces of monkey shit they are.

But there it is.

Sign me up!!!  I can do backgrounds, sprites, and story.  I'm envisioning putting in 40-50 hours a week on it.

Are these "in-game" playable screenshots?

If these aren't the final versions of the graphics either this is gonna be locked until you have more work done and can show, as the rules require, proper "in-game" screenshots.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike Macs.  I think OSX is great and, yes, it's incredibly stable.

However ...

When you stop to consider that the mac OS runs only on macs you realize that it's much easier to design a stable platform in that light.  Windows XP runs on a damn near infinite number of architectures/platforms.  It's much more open and flexible in that regard than mac's OS.  If mac had to re-design their OS to run on the wide range of platforms that Windows runs on it would be just as succeptable to viruses and crashes.  Probably more so since they'd be "new" to the game.

Considering the scope of computers that windows runs on it's remarkably stable in my opinion.  And, like I said, if you are careful and not lazy you can easily prevent [most] viruses from infecting your computer.  It's not window's fault that it warns you not to open email attachements from strangers and people still, time and time again, open them anyway.  That's just stupid users.

I'd be curious to know, since everybody loves saying it, what can Macs do better than PCs?  I know that PCs definitely have the edge on mac for computer games and the like, but what edge does a Mac have over a PC?  ** Elimintate any reference to Web development, photoshop, video editing, dvd production - I've already shown I can do them just as well on my PC as my buddy that is a mac snob **
#2499
If you are any bit competant you can run a PC just fine.  I've been using XP now for several years and I've never once crashed it.  No BSOD at all.  I've had it freeze up a few times ... but it then catches up and keeps on going.  But that's only when I've got a few browsers tabs going, Dreamweaver, Outlook, Photoshop, Coldfusion, and winAmp all going at the same time and is usually because jRun goes wonky and sucks up all the RAM (which has nothing to do with the stability of the OS)

Macs, as I said before, come in pretty boxes but they simply aren't "better" than PCs.  I'm not saying PCs are better either but for me, personally, I stick with PC just 'cause it's what I know.  I can't stand "mac snobs".

I do love the commercials for them lately though ... it's hilarious how they're actually calling their target market stupid and getting away with it in flying colors.  Cracks me up.

General Discussion / Re: Farewell, Pavarotti

I too was saddened by his passing...

I love how everytime somebody posts about the death of a celebrity, we get the one obligatory, "other people are dying too" posts!  Cracks me up.

Quote from: Oliwerko on Fri 07/09/2007 12:35:35The tragedy is equal. Exactly equal.

I totally disagree.  If I die tomorrow it would be, I like to think, tragic.  My friends and family would mourn me and it would be bad for them.  But nobody on the other side of the planet (outside of my friends) is going to mourn the loss.  They didn't know me (or even know of me) so for them it's not a tragedy.  Pavarotti was known the world over and his passing will effect FAR more people than mine would.  His passing is more impactful to a larger group of people.  To my way of thinking, that makes it more tragic.
