Nobody's gotten it yet but you're on the right track...

Bachelor Party?

Didn't remember the first quote. Second was familiar but still couldn't place it. The third triggered the memory.

I would guess it's how the screen cap software interprets the tablet (cintiq?) rotating. Looks great either way.

You got it! It's one of my favorite movies. Robin Williams is, of course, brilliant but the interactions between Captain Hook (Hoffman) and Shmee (Hoskins) were some of the best in Hollywood history IMO.

On to the next...

I have to say that Aliens is my second favorite action movie; I watch it regularly and can recite it line-for-line. My all-time favorite action movie goes to Die Hard.

Okay here we go:
- "I've just had an apostrophe..."
- "I think you mean an epiphany."
- "Lightning has just struck my brain.”
- "Well, that must hurt.”

I'm 99% sure I've seen this movie but I can't quite place it...

Is it True Lies?

Yeah it's a really enjoyable movie that my brother and I still quote from regularly.

I'll post the next round ASAP.

Fair enough.

It concerns me that you do not like the forum rules (or how I enforce them). Would you be willing to discuss this issue further in PMs? I'm always willing to listen to people's concerns/complaints and work to make the GiP a more comfortable place for all!

I have enjoyed seeing your games in the GiP (in the past) and would like you to continue posting them in the future!

I will discuss moving this to the Adventure Related board w/ cat and see if she's okay with it being in there and we can move it over there.

If you are willing to discuss your concerns/complaints about the GiP with me feel free to drop me a PM.
#276
Well we find ourselves in a bit of a pickle here.

Is there a particular reason you didn't want to post in the GiP?

I can move this back to wherever it was moved from (assuming it didn't break the rules of that board) if you wish to keep it out of here?

If it's going to stay in here it must adhere to the rules of course.

Work with very limited palettes.

Pick your palette before you start.

Start with a small palette like 4 or 5 colors only. I used to be stubbornly anti-limited palette until I actually started practicing with it.

Don't be afraid of using a site (like pixeljoint) and borrow palettes to practice with. That example you posted is a perfect demonstration. Is that fool?

Does look better though! Blender is all about that tweaking!

Honestly, for test renders such as this, I don't really bother. I just deal with the fireflies most of the time!

Poliigon is Andrew Price's site yes (the Blender Guru). His stuff is great and the free stuff (on youtubes) has helped me soooo much.

Hadn't heard of the Agenzas Brothers but now I'm watching all their stuff! Thanks for that!

Blender doesn't auto-save single image renders (no idea why they wouldn't let it do this).

A trick that might work (I haven't tried this) is to render an animation (saving each frame as an individual png file) instead. You could just do two frames and make the second frame "blank" so it renders instantly. I know when you set up animations in this way it saves each frame individually as it goes so it might work for what you're wanting.

Cheers man!

Sad to see you go though.

You're always welcome here (of course) so feel free to swing by and say hey from time to time!

It should be noted that I haven't released a game made with AGS since 2004 so "contributing" isn't really a requirement (nod)

I think they are off to a good start and it's a great way to learn texturing (on easy to unwrap shapes!).

I had the hardest time w/ marking seams... I just couldn't wrap my head around it at first. Just kept at it and eventually got a feel for it.

Is it too generic? Yeah probably...  but that's how just about anything starts off! Just keep adding details to make it more real!

Also it feels a tad too "clean".

Are you familiar with Polligon? They have some amazing FREE textures (with AO, diffuse, gloss, normals, etc) and all repeatable. The pricing isn't too bad either if you want to be paid member but for this project I'm sure there's free textures you could use to learn with! What they have that I LOVE are the "overlays" for adding smudges, cracks, grime, etc. It takes renders up to the next level!

The second image (with all the fireflies). There's a few tricks I use (if I want to avoid more samples/longer render times) but want to diminish the dreaded cycles fireflies!

  • The one I find works the best is increasing the lamp/light size. It won't get rid of all of them but usually kills most of them! I have found I can keep the light "level" where I want it (meaning it's not brighter, just bigger).
  • No Caustics. In the render panel > light paths > near the bottom there's a checkbox for "no caustics". This works wonders in most cases!
  • More Samples! This seems counter to the point but I have found that increasing the samples just slightly can, in a lot of cases, kill a lot of the fireflies as it gives the cycles engine a little more time to calculate the light paths. Takes a bit longer to render but it's a trade-off.
There are several other ways but these three have worked the best for me!

Here's a link (probably the one I used to develop my three above, it was a while ago I don't recall!) from Blender Guru (a great resource on YouTube but I'm sure you're familiar with him already!).

Good luck and keep posting the WiP images!
