Wow ...

Just wow.

I am a big fan of the books.  Been reading (and re-reading them) since I was a kid.

I knew full-well that the movie (being made so long after the original book was written) was going to be "modernized".  I knew it would be different.  And it was.  However, I still enjoyed it.

I have been a huge fan of Sam Rockwell for years (go Guy Fleegman!!) and was amped when I heard he'd be playing Zaphod Beeblebrox.  I wasn't disappointed with his performance in the slightest.  I'm also a huge fan of Mos Def so I loved his portrayal as well.  I found it to be zany and quarky and fun to watch all in all.  Even with the differences in the story.

Dunno ... a lesson I learned LONG ago was that when books are made into movies they're never the same.  Even if some parts are faithful, others will not be (as is the case with the Harry Potter movies).  So I don't ever go to the theater expecting to see the book.  Keeps me from being disappointed I guess.

First let me give some praise:

I love, love, LOVE the mixture of the simple characters with the detailed backgrounds.  It's a style I've always loved (and used, though not on this level of pretty-ness!)

Having said that ...

I don't like this version of Jake.

The one you have in the GiP thread is FAR more appealing to me:


This new version, while looking cool in the setting, lacks that ... oomph! that the other version has!

I dunno ... just screams more character to me.  More interesting.  More involving.  More dynamic.

I asked google/Deep thought for the ultimate question and it didn't know it.

So now we just need to figure out which search engine is earth ... they would know.

If these screens aren't the final versions (and you have none that are) you should have waited to post this.  I'm not going to lock it as it does technically follow the rules ... but if you aren't far enough to have two completed/finalized backgrounds you should have waited longer to post.

Anyway ...

You might want to read/research a bit about Police Departments and the ranking structure(s).  Saying "lowest rank possible" and "normal police officer" sounds silly.  Something like "You start of as a rookie cadet" and you quest to become an official "Officer of the Law" or something like that!

I had a buddy a few years back that fell for this ...   

The "theory" of how it works is very convincing and seems full-proof I know, but trust me buddy, don't do it!  You won't see a dime in return.

There are many (many) other ways to make money on the 'net.  For example; www.tattoo-spot.com is a site I put up about a year ago.  That site alone makes more than 1,000 USD / month for me and I haven't touched it in over a year.  It just sits out there earning day after day.  And it's just one of many I have floating out there.

I don't know if it's something you can do in your country ... but my point was simply that there are many ways to earn money on the side (aside from your real job ) without throwing money into a pyramid scheme!

Please post another "in-game" screenshot.  Menu/Title screens do not count as the two required.  I'm not going to lock this yet, but please update it soon.

Thanks for the update!  I like the look/feel of the game.  While the story isn't overly original, it still looks like fun!

I think you're 16 ... and a kid.  You're confused (as most 16 year olds are ... God knows I was) and you're experimenting and trying to figure it all out.

Don't make assumptions.

Don't stress over it.

You are who you are ... even if you don't know what that is yet.

Just keep an open mind and let time happen. 

It'll sort itself out one way or the other.
