Sure, if a mixture of Troy, Alexander and whatever other grand "historical" warepics from the recent 5 years - along with some awkward racial eliticism - is all you crave from your cinema experience, then congrats.

I would say it's all I'm really craving from this one!  I mean, I like "deep" movies as much as the next guy.  But if every movie I ever watched were as deep as the last it'd get very tiring and repetitive.  Occasionally, as Rui stated, I like to go to a movie I can just enjoy for the sake of enjoyment.  Variety.

And I never judge a movie just from the trailer ... I've learned from lots of movie-going experience that trailers can sometimes be VERY misleading.  I mean, the trailer for Showgirls made the movie look interesting!

I like the background you've used ... though it changes colors from frame 1 and 2 which wouldn't really bother me if it were a stronger change (to reflect a different mood/emotion) but it's just a subtle change.  Don't know.

Anyway ... I admire your enthusiasm and willingness to keep on practicing.  Perhaps, as I've suggested before, spend a little more time on the details rather than rushing to get it done.  This feels very quickly done.

It's called transparency ... and how to use it depends on what program you're creating the animation in.  Look it up, but don't post in here asking about it.  That doesn't belong in a competition thread.

Secondly ... why did you double post?  There's a modify function, use that from now on please.

I think the biggest problem is that some parts of the background look like you tried ... and other parts look very rushed.

I spent 10 minutes and did a very quick paint-over:


- doesn't have the random boards pattern (I didn't have that much time)
- cleaner lines
- 1 vanishing point
- cleaner gradients

I don't know if it's better (it's different) but it just seems to me if you'd spend a little more time on the small details you'd be better off.  Are you doing paint-overs of existing backgrounds?

Why not remove anything to do with differentiation of races, then? Someone who is still racist in this day and age, is obviously got some problems, and either will get  looked at oddly, talked down to, beaten, or institutionalised till those problems are gone. Giving special treatment will always cause a lingering sliver of racism. Instead, treat all equal!

I've always thought the term "African American" is useless.

1) Isn't being just an American good enough for you?
2) Charlize Theron isn't black and she's an African-American
3) Just further seperates the races



I would wager that if you scooped up 100 black people off the street and asked them to name 5 countries in Africa that only 1 or 2 could actually do it.  (This isn't a comment on the stupidity of black people, it'd be exactly the same with white people).

Thing is, equal to who? We do come in different races, that's a fact. We're no better or worse for that, but we ARE different. We come from different cultural backgrounds. We may even have different values because of that. We ARE different, and equalization isn't always the answer.

This is why I want aliens to visit our planet ... an alien life-form so different from humans that it would serve to show the ignorant human race that even given our cultural differences etc. we are all, basically, the same.  We're all a fragile carbon based life-form inhabbiting the same planet.

I'm thankful that people are worldly, decent, and respectful enough to not post meaningless negativity in this thread just 'cause they don't respect other people's holidays.

I think updating the first thread is a brilliant idea actually.

It allows people to see the entries without having to go through 10 pages of off-topic posts (non entries).

I'm thankful for my family, my wonderful girlfriend and my great friends who arranged a surprise-party for me last night.
I'm also grateful I don't have to eat turkey with distant relatives and say grace and listen to random people testify how they owe their God/nation/president this and that while they get tears in their eyes.

Not that I'm trying to be racist or anything but that just proves how far black people will go to get free money. They've always used racism as a trump card but now its going too far. What Michael Richards did is wrong but paying money for flying off the handle at some black people is just ridiculous.

Andail, this may shock you , but I agree with most of what you're saying!

Yes, the word "nigger" has far more power than "honkey" or "cracker" because of the past.  I would agree with that.

However, in my opinion, it's still just a word.  It only has that power because black people still get upset over it and thus give it that power.

I've been called "honkey", "cracker", "white boy" several times by ignorant black people who were attacking my solely based on the color of my skin.  I just laugh.  Why not call me "poop head" or something even more childish.

If you are low-class enough to resort to racial slurs you aren't worth getting upset over.  That's just my opinion.  So if you're a black person and a white person calls you a nigger why not just look at them and laugh at their ignorance?  They aren't better than you, they don't have power over you ... unless you react to a "word" and give them that power over you.
