General Discussion / Re: Any Jamaicans here?
Fri 10/11/2006 19:19:07
Quote from: Steel Drummer on Fri 10/11/2006 16:56:08You'd think I'd post there when no one is gonna see it? No way!

So instead you break the rules and post in the wrong spot.

Good call.

I don't see why anybody should have to use that thread anyway.  We should just have hundreds of "I'm making a game ... I need your help" threads cluttering up every board in here so that nobody can find the threads they might actually want to read.

There is a thread specifically for this kind of thing in the Adventure Related Talk & Chat board:

Recruit A Team - need help with your game?

You should post in there instead.

Congrats Snake!  My best friend just had a kid ... it's a life-altering event and I wish you the best of luck!

LE is still on my anticipated games list!  40 more years isn't too long to wait.  Your son can help you eventually!

Congrats man!

Quote from: Hooey on Thu 09/11/2006 19:36:43It's slower because Adobe Photoshop isn't Universal yet. It's still the old PPC version so Intel OS X has to run it through Rosetta to run it and blargh :P

But ... but ... I thought everything just runs better on a Mac???

From the Forum Charter: Competitions and Activities Forum thread:

What this forum is for:
* Taking part in the various competitions and activities organized in the AGS Community

What this forum is not for:
* Anything else

Buckethead - pick the one YOU want as your entry.  That's kind of the point of a competition.

ExoTek - if you have questions about how it was "pulled up" send a PM about it.  Leave this thread for actual entries.

Sorry to be hypocritical (since I'm not posting an entry) but I hate having to sort through all the meaningless off-topic crap in the competition threads to find actual entries.  And it seems to be getting worse and worse lately.

PLEASE ... if you agree/disagree with me, send me a PM about it rather than posting in here.  Thanks.

You should get a mac ... things just work better on a mac.

Sorry ... couldn't resist.

I had a problem before with a mic.  I tried everything I could to get it to work and all I ever got was static recorded.  It did turn out to be a matter of the sound card.  I had to get a new one.

Hope this isn't the case with yours!

Quote from: Enkerro on Wed 08/11/2006 20:18:35OS X is more stable than XP.
And when OS X has the massive amount of users that PCs have (and it needs to be 'opened up' more, to allow for the flexibility needed with such a massive user-base, I assure you it'll be just as (if not more) unstable than XP.

Quote from: Enkerro on Wed 08/11/2006 20:18:35It's much nicer (and a hell of a lot easier) for me to make music, work, surf the 'net and chat on OS X.
I'm not really sure how it can be easier to surf the 'net and chat?  IM and MSN and all those chat programs could be used by a 3 year old.  As far as music/work being nicer and easier I just don't buy it.  I've worked on both and saw no real difference.  Just two differring ways of accomplishing the same thing.  Sorry, just sounds like a mac-fan jumpin' on the bandwagon of "things just work better on a mac" and all that hooey.

Quote from: Enkerro on Wed 08/11/2006 20:18:35I haven't installed any antivirus program on this Mac, because there's no need.
Did you know that the Titanic was unsinkable?

As funny as I think the new Mac/PC commercials are (and they are humorous!) the over-all point of them irritates me.

When that guy says "Macs are better for creative stuff" I just feel the urge to punch him.  There is nothing he can do on a MAC that I can't do just as good (if not better) on a PC.  Maybe 15 years ago Macs were better for graphics stuff but, not sorry to say, that's just not the case anymore.

Now-a-days it more depends on the skill of the user, not the computer.

I can't wait till the people those commercials actually get to buy a Mac realize that, basically, the message is "If you're too stupid/unable to work a PC, buy a Mac!"  They're basically insulting their customers.

Don't get me wrong ... I don't dislike Macs.  They're very pretty and fully functional.  But they aren't, in my opinion, any better than a PC.

Now I know some will say "But macs don't get viruses!!" to which I reply, "yeah ... and when Macs are 99% of what computer users are on (rather than 1% as they are now compared to the 99% using PCs), they will have just as many viruses as PCs do."  To say that Macs are more secure is just silly.  Silly I say!

Oh wait!!  Mac's power cords just *plop noise* pop right off.  Riiiightt ... 'cause I know that is handy as I have ALL my power cords laid across heavy traffic areas.  So clever!!

Let the Mac-addicts ranting begin ;)

This is not the Hints & Tips board ... if you want hints & tips post in there.  Keep this thread for [Games in] production posts.
#2890
Be sure to read the forum rules in the Games in Production board before posting about this game in there.

Also ... if I may suggest something, do NOT post about the game in production until you have some major progress.  Don't whip up two temporary screenshots and post about it.  Build the game up and have a significant portion of it done before telling everybody about it.

Best of luck.

You know ... I was just thinking to myself, "it's been awhile since somebody completely disregards the forum rules and digs up a thread that's been dead for over four months ..."

Sigh ...

Decamphest - read the forum rules (in all boards) before posting ... they're the ones that cryptically say, "READ BEFORE POSTING"

Gord10 - if you're still in production send me a PM and I'll unlock.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Walk Cycles
Wed 01/11/2006 22:26:09
Just for future reference (not sure it was mentioned in your other thread ... too long to read it all) ... but this is the "Critics Lounge".

You now have 2 threads in here that have nothing to "critic".

There was no need, in the first place, for two seperate threads and neither really belong in here.  Damage done, so no big deal.  Just thought I'd offer that for future reference.

Quote from: Da_Elf on Wed 01/11/2006 22:14:19I want to set up a time system when the beginning time = 1 then after that everytime you enter a room it adds 1 to the time then when you leave the room it does a conditional check on the variable. if the variable is less than lets say 5 (  <5   ) then going to the next room it loads the daytime room. if the variable is between 5 and 10 then it will open a night room. then if the variable reaches 10 it will load a day room then set the variable back to 1. is this possible?

Yes it's possible.  Please post that question in the tech forums though!  Keep this thread about the production of the game!

Good to know you're still working on this ... even if slowly :)

Please review the forum rules ...  (#2 in particular)

So the Tigers blew it ...

I've been waiting and anticipating this for 22 years.  The Detroit Tigers finally making it back to the World Series.  I've been walking on clouds since they won the ALCS (actually since they beat the Yanks).

Now they have lost ... I can't help but blame it on the young pitching staff and the rediculous errors they caused.  You know, I don't mind when my team gets beat ... but the Cardinals didn't beat the Tigers ... the Tigers beat themselves with a LOT of sloppy playing.  I know there's a method to how they rotate their pitching staff, but I just don't get why they didn't put Kenny Rogers back in and let him bring it back to Detroit.

Very sad.  I'm depressed.

Did anybody else watch?  I know there are some Michiganders on these forums aren't there?  Am I the only one that cared?

Bah ... just wanted to vent my disappointment.

I like the background ... I think it's fANTastic!

I particularly like the the Band of Brothers reference with the 506!

The only problem I can see is that the mountains in the background seem so richly detailed that it almost makes the foreground details seem ... unfinished.  But that's a minor thing.

I love it!

AGS Games in Production / Re: SAW II

1. This isn't the critics lounge ... take the edits/suggestions on the graphics outta here
2. Take the chit-chat into PMs to keep this from getting cluttered up in here

I've signed up.  I can't wait for people to start using it!!  It's gonna be great.  AGS sux!!  Everybody should jump ship and go to neelhound's forums!!

But seriously ...

What's up with all the [useless] posting?  It's not a good way to win people over 'round these parts.

How old are you?

Quote from: thewalrus on Fri 20/10/2006 02:43:53Wow, this is the first time that I saw the thread for this game. The graphics are really amazing! I hope that you are still working on this project.....
Then you should have sent a PM as the forum rules state ... rather than digging up a thread that has been dead for over 3 months.

Mel_O_Die - I see you are still active on the site.  If you're still working on this game send me a PM if you wish to update this thread and I'll unlock it.
