The AoK team has been (and still is) an awesome experience for me!  We've been (meaning me mostly) a little under-productive recently but we're all still gung-ho to go!

If you get the right team together, then yes, it's an awesome thing.  I reckon you put together that wrong team it could be a bad experience.  The thing to remember is that nobody is getting paid for it ... and as such aren't 'required' to work on it.  Go into it knowing that ... and you shouldn't have too many disappointments.

A lot of people need to read the Forum Rules ... ;)

Thanks for the update!

Please put a plot/game description (in the first post - hit modify) so we know what the story is about (you don't have to give away secrets, but give us something).  Check this Example Thread for an idea on what to include.

Good luck with the production.

Loom is a staple of the adventure game world ... do it justice :)

Please read the forum rules ... when you have more to show (at least 2 unique IN GAME screenshots) let me know and I'll unlock this thread.

I have updated your post to the proper formatting ... now please fill in the blanks and flesh it out so that it follows the forum rules.

I admire your enthusiasm and willingness towards the rules ... now you just need to follow them.

NOTE: He PM'd me with a request for help ... so please ... no comments on the 'rule breaking' nature of this thread just yet!

Ouch!

I did say I was ready, and hoping, to stand corrected ;)

I have ultra-fond memories of Nintendo; Dragon Warrior(s), Bionic Commando, Contra, etc on the NES.  Some great games.  I remember coming home from school and having Super Street Fighter II competitions with the neighborhood kids on the SNES, and other great games like Star Fox and Secret of Mana.  I never played a game so addictively as I played GoldenEye on the N64.

I hope Nintendo wins with the Wii.  I haven't seen/played it so I can't speak for it's merits/faults.  However, the name Wii is dumb (my opinion) and the lack of modern day support of HD just seems like an over-sight.

Sure ... I don't work on the system and since it's not available to me yet I can only speculate.  But after all ... it's just my opinion.

I do like that they are trying something new with the controller.  I'm curious to try it.

Not HD = Not for me.

I can't believe that Nintendo would even consider releasing something that isn't HD.

They always seem to do something like that with each new release ... like the N64 was cartridge based, for example.

I don't know ... just seems odd that it doesn't have HD support.

Don't get me wrong, I'm ready to (and will happily) stand corrected if it's mind blowing, I just don't see it happening.

When they changed the name from "Revolution" to "Wii" I knew something was wrong :)

Okay okay ... this one is over!

Not as many entries as I'd like, but that's water under the bridge.

AND THE WINNER IS ...
First place goes to the lovely and talented Miss MashPotato for her "infinity in a case" take on What's Inside?

An honorable mention goes to Mr. Tocsik for his "mission impossible" idea.

Nobody made George Jetsons air-car pop out of the briefcase.  That was my original idea.  I can't believe nobody thought of that!!

Anyway, thanks to all who entered, and Mash ... fire out something awesome for the next one.

Good sweet GOD IN HEAVEN!!!

Un-freakin-believable.

SCOOBYFAN14 DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN ... READ THE FORUM RULES BEFORE ANYMORE POSTING IN HERE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!

Firstly, welcome to the forums

Secondly, this REALLY doesn't belong in this board!  Please read the FORUM RULES before posting in here (or any other of the boards!)

Thirdly, I'm not moving this to an appropriate board because a thread exists for this kind of thing already!  Please review the Offer Your Services thread in the Adventure Related Talk & Chat board.

Thanks and enjoy your stay here.

It's a step in the right direction ... however, doing shading like that creates a problem when/if using this character in-game because you have to design all backgrounds with that particular light source.  I try to make character sprites with a 'neutral' light source.

Here's a quick paintover:

It's a little sloppy, but you get the point.

I would suggest doing away with the black outline, but this is just my personal preference.  Black outlines aren't necessarily bad!

Hope this helped!

Yeah ... I doubt the Amish were 'training on Doom' for this.

Sickening and Sad.

I'm sure the kids of Belsan would agree this isn't just an American thing.  There are psychotic lunatics in all parts of the world.  We just have a rediculous amount of media coverage here in the states and so everybody hears about it.

I really don't see a way to stop this kind of thing from happening ... and that's really sad.  Throwing out the second ammendment (the right to bear arms) won't solve this problem.  There are too many guns and it's too easy to get your hands on one.

Pretty darn good turn-out!  I actually had a hard time deciding but ...

The results are in!

Third Place ProgZmax

Second Place Mikko

First Place Gameboy

There was just something about Gameboy's entry that stood out to me (visually).  Perhaps I'm just a fan of the old '57??  Anyway ... thanks to all who entered, now Gameboy get the next jam started!  Oh ... if you want trophies you can make your own (I'm not a supporter of the whole trophie thing ;))
#2914
Anybody else want to join the "man I suddenly feel dumb" club with me??

Some really good entries!

I was out of town for the weekend ... I'll be judging this tonight!  Any last minute entries welcome!!

Quote from: ManicMatt on Mon 02/10/2006 02:22:23I hope the fact that me and Darth have bumsex won't affect the overall decision.
You promised you wouldn't tell!!! ;)

Quote from: Flukezy on Fri 29/09/2006 12:24:37Heh, Andail, you shouldn't quote the whole post, especially if it has a picture in it. Oh, the irony!!

Hey Fluke ... you shouldn't post random offtopic posts in the Competitions board.

I'm out of town until Sunday night!  Keep 'em coming guys!!

Okay ... here's the deal.

You must take this briefcase and open it.  But here's the catch ... What's Inside??

There must be something "suprising" inside.  What's inside??  That's up to you.  The more fantastic the better!

Think "outside the briefcase" and be creative!

Limitations
Size: 320 x 240
Colors: No Limit

If anybody picks what I'm thinking of, you'll automatically win!

GO!!!
#2920
Sweet!  I won something!!

Great entries to all.

I'll start the next challenge tonight!
