AGS Games in Production / Re: LOOM II

I agree that these screenshots and descriptions don't "feel" like Loom, however, this certainly shouldn't discourage you from continuing.

Quote from: Nikolas on Wed 01/02/2006 19:52:52I know that this could lead to a huge discussion, but I had to mention that.

Do not bring that discussion in here!

Actually ... leave over discussions of the graphics.  It's been said now and this isn't the CL!!

I've been hearing mumblings about this for some time now.

I am excited and disappointed ...

Why would I possibly be disappointed?  I wrote a sequel myself and even started to make an AGS game (which I kept secret) awhile back.  So I'm a little disappointed because it takes away from (and probably disproves) my story line.

But I'm REALLY excited because the Dark Crystal is a gem of a movie.  There are few films (Labyrinth) that have such an incredibly unique style.  I hope they use very little CG and do it all with puppets and real-life sets.

Here is the imdb listing: The Power of the Dark Crystal (still vague, but it does say 2006!)

Here's hoping they do it right.

Did you eat it?

Oh ... and mom's know best.  Listen to your mother!!

I don't buy it ... there's no way a human being could play the game like that.  The camera moving around and him skirting those edges like that?  Just no way.

This had to be some kind of bot running on an emulator or something.  It's a hoot to watch, but I find it hard to believe a human being could do that.  I am willing to be proven wrong :)

Okay that's enough ...

It's getting WAY cluttered in here.

If you're not going to post an entry, please don't post.

Thanks.

I'll do all the graphics.

The backgrounds, sprites, and animations.

I should have them done tomorrow, I'll contact you then.

Then we can sell the copyrighted material and you can pay me .05 % of the profits.

Normally I wouldn't do this ... but since we've seen all your other work, I'm willing to give it a go!

Quote from: LJUBI on Mon 30/01/2006 01:30:19We know that they are in PNG we just wanted to say that they look like they are saved in JPG
Huh?

You just might be the first person(s) to say that :)

Anarcho - these images from you just scream cool.  I look forward to playing a game in this setting!  Don't have anything constructive to add, just wanted to give props.

Corey - can you render that without the "Made by Corey" black part and send it to me?  I have a guy that wants to buy the image from me for $100!!

Thanks!

Anybody else thinking 'bout entering?!  You've got a few more days!!

Quote from: Rui "Shodan" Pires (a divine AI) on Wed 25/01/2006 12:30:32I've been meaning to say this, but have been busy...

Gonna link to it from my sitey! Great work!
Awesome!  Thanks!

Quote from: Venus on Wed 25/01/2006 13:03:39I love the idea, but I don't see any fonts on this site. For me, it just looks like this.
Is there anything special I need installed to see them?
Hmmm odd indeed.  I'll have to check with my brother (he's the flash developer) to figure out what's going on.  From your screenshot I see you're using a mac.  What browser and OS are you using?

Quote from: spigian on Sat 21/01/2006 18:08:38Thank you Darth Mandarb. DC now that we have the permission from our moderator please tell us your news. How is the game going?

I think you missed the point of my message.  DC is the author of this thread ... he doesn't need permission to bump it.  You, however, should have sent him a PM rather than bring this thread back up.  Granted it didn't break the rules, but a PM would have been a better idea.

DC - good to know you're still working on it.  When you are ready to update this thread let me know and I'll unlock it.

The biggest problem to me is the water ... everything else seems so "fitting" and the water just stands out too much.

I did a sloppy paintover:

- changed the water a bit (added ripples around the pillars)
- added a shadow from the dock
- shaded the big boat a bit

Don't know if it's too different ... I tried to keep the simplistic shading style which works so perfectly.  I didn't touch the character, he's spot-on as far as I'm concerned!

1 other concern, which I didn't address in my paint-over is the shadow the vase is casting (the urn type thing on the barrell).  It's shadow is going down and to the right, where-as the shadow of the gangway leading to the ship goes the other way.  Confuzzled me a tad, but not enough to change it!

Come to think ... my shadow under the dock may be in the wrong spot ... hmmm

General Discussion / Re: What shall i use?

Since you're posting here on the AGS forums I'm inclined to think you're asking about which program(s) to use to make the "stuff" for your game, rather than which game making engine you should use?

I'm only a graphics guy, so for the graphics I recommend photoshop.

I updated your post to actually include the 2 required screenshots (visibly).

1 Question:
Are these actually "in-game" shots?  I ask because I see no characters and/or GUIs on these screens?  If they aren't, I'm going to let it fly as you have several of them and appears you've put some work into it.

While it is acceptable to ask for help in here, you might consider trying the ACR Thread as well.  I think more people would read the request in there.

The game/plot doesn't sound too original, but intriguing enough.  Who doesn't love the "wake up in a strange place with no memory" plot-line?

Thanks for the informative post.
#3079
I've given this several days ...

Please add another screenshot that isn't a title screen.  If you don't have another, you should have waited longer before posting.

FoY and Amulet of Kings are nominated in the "most promising freeware games" section.

Congrats to the rest who are representing the AGS community so well!
