Just as there are other threads with Google's I'm Feeling Lucky as the topic there are even more about Bush and Moore.

Let me summarize:

Bush is an idiot who very few seem to like.

Moore is a fat loud-mouth who many seem to like (though not me).

There.  Now we don't need to discuss it anymore ;)

However, I will suggest an alternate perversion of this topic:

George Bush and Michael Moore.

George Michael.

So if you combine a fat loud-mouth and an idiot with nuclear power ... you get a gay British Pop-star who enjoys masturbating in a public loo!!

Now that's a worthy discussion!

A good start!

The first thing that jumped out at me was the the outhouse appears to be all of one piece.  Where to roof part meets the front part there's no "joints".  Unless there was some serious mitre work done on all edges you'd be able to see the board's edges.  But more than that ... there'd probably be some kind of facia (edge work) done to hold the thing together and give it more stability!

Something like this:

Hope it helps!

1 word:

EMULATOR

200 Dollars is re-damn-diculous for 30 year old technology.

If you want the thing, check eBay.  You could probably get it much cheaper.

I was wandering the interweb of pixel art last night ... and came across this FANTASTIC site.

I stumbled onto this image: http://www.slateman.net/images/gaming/nxc/nxc-dinosaur2.jpg

So I decided to mimick it and here was the result:

It's rather similar, but is all my work.
- redrew the over-all shape
- all new color scheme/shading
- made the head smaller
- changed the shape of the arms (and shortened them a bit)
- altered the features of the face
- altered the legs slightly
- moved the tail into a new position

Anyhoo ... just thought I'd toss my hat into the ring for this.

The new dithering on the robes is fantastic!  Great job!

I'm sure the horizon should be straight, but I think it looks better as is.
#3106
I did what Neil did ... only with less colors.

- using dithered low-color gradients

Weee!!  Fun with shading!

Quote from: Bluke4x4 on Sun 08/01/2006 21:22:05Family Guy is nothing but references and jokes about injuries or stupid people. Like: Peter suddenly falling down the stairs, throwing up because he drank a bottle of Ipecac, and any episode ever, because they all have references. It's not even funny.

I hope it gets cancelled, and I hope you come to your senses before it does, Thomas.

Perhaps were you a tad older than 12 you'd better understand the show and it's "references"?

I just recently discovered the show and love the hell out of it!  I'm a child of the 80's ... so perhaps it means more to me.  But it's been a long while since I've laughed this hard at a TV show.

And considering it's one of a VERY few shows ever to be brought back on-air by a demanding audience and over whelming DVD sales, I'd say your opinion is in the minority ;)

Quote from: taffytom on Sun 08/01/2006 17:36:07There doesnt need to be three stacks, it could be a slightly smaller model than say...The Titanic.

And Titanic only used 3 of her 4 (the fourth was just to balance the asthetic appearance of the ship!)

Anyway ...

Here's a sloppy paint-over from your pal Darth:

Nothin' special but added a few things.

- there would usually be an observation pole (before radar!) with a crow's nest up top
- these'd be old coal burning ships, hence the dark black smoke (rather than the white!)
- added that line from the first stack to the pole.

Anyway ... hope it was helpful!

I don't think the folks over at PixelJoint are going to "steal" anybody's work.

My guess is that the disclaimer thing is probably just in case they decide, at some point in the future, to release a book/cd/dvd type thing about PixelJoint (coffee table book or something) they don't need to give money to EVERYBODY who has work featured/shown in the product.

I see it more as them protecting themselves rather than trying to steal from anybody.  But I could be wrong.

I wouldn't be putting anything on there that I was planning on keeping proprietary anyway!  But I really don't see what it would hurt.  I can't imagine they would claim ownership of your work just 'cause you put it on that site?

I will probably still post ... just maybe be a little more weary?

I got the impression the the diner was floating way up high near the top of the Statue of Liberty.  (I guessed those "wheel" lookin' things were anti-grav thing-a-mabobs)

I did a quick paint over ...

- added a gradiated sky
- altered the shoreline
- added depth of field (blurring) to the water
- added more lights
- shaded the moon a little differently
- added some hi-lighting on the diner's window

The water was too defined, which was pushing the diner and the water together.  By blurring it, it makes it feel apart.

I would suggest dithering the clothing on the statue ... the rest has beautiful dithering, but the clotheing part has just smooth lines.

All in all, I think it's a good enough background.  Though, as BigBrother mention, there's no place for the character to walk about.  Unless this is for a cutscene type thing ... then it's spot on :)

Hope the paint-over helped!

It's an American Civil War era Confederate Field Hospital.

I have no more time ... but I want to post it anyway.

I was gonna add an observation tower off in the distance and some more details.  Alas ... time worked against me.

The image is off to a great EGA start!

I think something should be done with the sky ... to me it also looks to dark!  I did a quick paint-over with some other suggestions as well:

- altered the sky a bit (lightened as well)
- added some more shading to the area around the stone path
- altered the roof line (on the left - it felt too steep to me)
- made the stone wall go to the roof line (on the right side)
- altered the bench a little
- altered the window frame on the front
- added shading to the tree (as others did)
- rounded the edge of the buidling and chimney (as Eigen did)

I'm not sure if I over-did it ... but I think it still maintains that EGA feel.  Though, perhaps, not necessarily that of KQIV!

Hope it helps either way!

It's a cool site ...

I don't post there really (don't have time right now for more than just looking in) but I do check it daily (or near daily).

Eventually, once my life calms down, I plan on posting there regularly!

That's me on the tablet ... I got arrested when I came down.  It was worth it!

I never had so much fun as when my roommates and I (there were four of us) took on 25 bots in Unreal Tournament.

On those long winter nights in Michigan we'd all sit at our computers (we had wireless headsets so we could all communicate) and we'd play for HOURS on end.  I was the sniper ... I covered the guys as they ran to get the flag.  We'd put the bots on the hardest skill level and eventually we got REALLY [pathetically] good at it.

Ahhhh ... the memories.
