I tingle with anticipation!!  ;)

Great stuff!

I have been playing a lot of Prince of Persia lately (downloaded a SNES emulator - the SNES version was awesome!) and was wondering if something like that'd be possible in AGS.

The keyboard responses were a little slow ... like crouching when the camera points at you.  I found myself pushing the button in time, but the delay caused me to miss and the door would close.

Also, an option to run/sneak (like Prince of Persia) would be cool.  I do like how you can't fall off ledges ... that was always stupid to me (in PoP).

Looking forward to the full game!

Not the right place ... There's the ACR Thread for just this sort of thing!

You'll get a better response in there anyway ... because more people will read that thread and this one will slowly fade off into nothingness ...

Good luck!

Quote from: Czar on Sat 24/12/2005 21:38:40But what happened to that guy Jeff in the end?

I heard, through the inter-web grape vine that he was fine ... that he stayed under the radar to prevent the people he tricked from coming after him.

Of course, it might all be a scam.  Something sombody cooked up to generate traffic to their website or something ...

Geesh ... I step out for a few hours and look what happens!!

JRock - the folks around here are very helpful.  You just need to post in the right places!

This, however, isn't the right place for Q&A and random how-to discussions of any sort.

Use the search feature.  You'd be surprised how many questions have already been answered.  And check the sticky threads of each board, as there are helpful things to be found!

Welcome to AGS and good luck with your game!

The leisure suit larry article was so nostalgic I almost vomitted!  Excellent stuff!

Thanks for the links.

I like your reply to her ...

However, I would have gone down this road instead:

The Powerbook Prank

If you've got a few minutes read the entire article.  I was on the floor laughing.  Even if it's not true, it sure makes me feel good to read it.  If more people would get their heads out of their arses these kinds of scams wouldn't work.  Unfortunately, like SPAM, they do work.

I sell on eBay regularly and get these kinds of scam requests all the time.  I put in my ALL my auctions "PayPal only" and then, in the fine print, "I will accept personal checks and money orders BUT ALL ITEMS WILL NOT BE SHIPPED UNTIL FUNDS HAVE CLEARED".  Then, no matter what they say, I tell them I will not ship until I have the money.  They don't want it like that?  Fine, don't bid.

In the end, you did the right thing.  But keep in mind, you anger this scammer too much, they might do to you what the powerbook scam's [deserving] victim did to the seller!!

Though it'd probably be worth it!

Brilliant!

And one helluva catchy tune!

I thought I'd give it a quick paint-over:

- altered the sky
- added more shading
- added siding to the house
- added some bricks to the store

I made it dithered ... but it doesn't have to be.  I just think the dithered effect works better with the non-antilaliased foreground elements.  Just my taste though.

Hope it helps.

Quote from: Colxfile on Wed 21/12/2005 10:58:32But re-doing the graphics will be the last thing I do before finishing.
...
Yeah, re-doing the graphics will be mandatory.

If these aren't the final graphics that are going to be in the game you should have waited until you had some of the final graphics before posting.  If these are just stand-in graphics then they don't represent the game.

Having said that, I think you should keep the graphics as they are ... but that's me,  I like retro-gaming.

Critics' Lounge / Re: Underwater background
Thu 22/12/2005 15:51:01
Mordalles' edit is quite nice!  However, I get an impression that there's a glass wall there ... or a force field ... something which is holding the water back.  It makes the foreground area look dry.

I find that most underwater images/films I've seen you have no long range detail ... everything fades away.

Something like this:

- added some foreground elements
- altered the cave ceiling just a bit
- faded the background out a tad
- added some 'sandy' texture to the ground, and a water texture to the top

I have included The PSD file (~500k) if you use Photoshop and would be interested in how I did it.

I was thinking this image could benefit from that oscilating light effect you see on the ocean bottoms ... but in order to be effective, it'd have to be animated and I can't even begin to imagine the head-ache that would be to animate!

Hope this helps!

JP from The Adventures of JP & Cosmo: A Friend Indeed.

Clever name, GREAT game!!

And ... to answer the question you'll pose in your next thread; blue is my favorite color.

Screenies don't work for me ... can you post them as GIF or JPG instead of PCX?  That'd probably be more widely available to most.

If you want, you can email them to me, and I'll host them for you!  PM me if you're interested.

I would make them in 3D and rather than solving puzzles you'd just go around blasting things.

This game is FAR too awesome to leave this thread open!!

I have to lock it ... or the awesomeness of this game will quickly overwhelm the community.

Up will become down ...

Black will become white ...

It'll be anarchy!!!
