Heh...some music is meant to be played with full base. Of course, it starts getting silly when your entire car is vibrating.
Music that is meant to be played with full bass, shouldn't be played in public.Ã,  I would wager that far more people who are forced to listen to it don't want to hear it than those that do.

I think the volume of your car stereo should be like the volume of your house stereo.Ã,  You can make it as loud as you want as long as those around you aren't forced to listen to it.Ã,  People on the outside of your car shouldn't have to hear what you're listening to.

I've actually gotten up from a restaraunt table, walked out of the restaraunt, approached the car sitting by the curb blasting his stupid bass (thinking he looks cool when in fact he looks like a complete idiot) and said, "The people in that restaraunt don't want to hear your bass, either turn it down or park someplace else."Ã,  He, of course, screamed out "Fuck you asshole!" ... as he was driving off :)Ã,

He was tough ... and cool.

FINALLY!!

Florida passed a law limiting the volume and bass levels allowed in public!!

For years and years I've seen these little turds riding around in their rediculous looking little street cars blasting soooo much bass that they can't possibly even hear what they're listening to.Ã,  This has never (even when I was of the age of most of these idiots) made sense to me.Ã,  Not to mention it's annoying and incredibly rude to the people around them.

They interviewed this idiot on the news last night who was like, "this is rediculous ... we're not hurting anybody!"Ã,  What a tool-bag.Ã,  This just proves my point.Ã,  This idiot doesn't see anything wrong with annoying those around him as long as he's happy.Ã,  Pathetic.

I believe the law states that you must put your bass/volume to a level that cannot be heard from 25 ft away.Ã,  There's no set decible level, just a cop's discretion.Ã,  I sure hope they start handing out ticket after ticket to enforce this law.Ã,  (good revenue for the cities)

I've already heard some of these 'tough' guys talking shit.Ã,  "They can't stop me!!Ã,  I'll put my bass where I like it!" (of course, it's far less intelligible than that!)Ã,  I bet after they've paid several hundred dollars of fines they'll be whistling a different tune.Ã,  Haha!

I say it's about time a law like this was passed.

General Discussion / Re: DVD burning
Fri 01/07/2005 14:32:59
I'm assuming you want to copy movies that you already own?  As copying movies you don't own would be illegal (thus not allowed to be discussed on these forums)

Did you get a dual-layer DVD burner?

Most movies on DVD now-a-days won't fit on single layer DVDs (which is, I think, why it took so long for dual layer burners to hit the market).  Also, DL media is still rediculously expensive.  You might as well just buy the DVDs, in the end it'll probably cost you less.

There is a program called DVD Shrink (use Google to find it) which can strip out all the useless crap DVDs provide (menues, special features, sub-audio tracks, other languages, etc) and put just the movie (compressed just enough) to fit on a single layer DVD.  Some movies don't even need compressing if they're short enough (around 2 hours).  I've compressed up to 75% and could barely tell it was compressed.

This is, of course, only to be used on DVDs that you already own ... Pirating DVDs is stealing.

I like the first one a lot ... but I much prefer the second one.

As Ali pointed out, it fits much more with the description you provided.

Please use the modify link rather than double posting.

The image is decent enough ... if a bit empty (as was mentioned).  Adding some shrubs, rocks, etc. would really tie it all together.

The black dots (foreground area) look out of place given the detail of the mountains/plains.

Perhaps if the black dots were a dark[er] green?

Thanks for the PM ... I have updated the thread and unlocked it.

NOTE: he will be providing the screenshots soon PLEASE don't comment on it ;)

Brilliant!

This sounds very entertaining!

Will the game feature Elton John's music?  And if so, will it be limited to music released in '74 or earlier (given that that's when the game takes place)?

Either way, looks good.

She reminds me of Meg from Disney's Hercules (which is a good thing ... I love the style of that movie!) so in that regard, I don't mind the extra-thin waist area.

I guess it would depend on what the client wants.

The only thing that jumped out at me were the fore-arms ... they might be [just] a tad on the large side.  Though it might be the shading, they appear to be larger than her bicep area.

Other than that, bang up job as always!

I'm thinking you must have speed-read the forum rules here.

I would like to point out rule #2:

2) A minimum of two (in-game) screenshots must be available.

The key words here are "in" and "game".  Concept art hardly counts.

When you've got some actual IN-GAME backgrounds to show, PM me and I'll unlock this thread.

Now having said all that mean ol' moderator stuff the game, albeit short, sounds pretty darn interesting.  Don't give up on it!

For future reference, this type of post/question doesn't belong in this forum.

Have you tried searching Google for sites about making MIDI music?

Have you read the AGS manual?  That blue bar cutting off your graphics is another GUI that can be removed.  VERY beginner stuff.

Quote from: jetxl on Wed 29/06/2005 15:23:25Leave it to the moderators to let a serious discussion turn silly.

Serious Discussion?  I think it's a pointless post (no offense) and hardly serious.

As a few have pointed out, there's WAY too much rock to accurately judge which is the best.

Ask 50 different people you'll get 50 different answers.

Youngsters of today probably think bands like Blink 182 are rockers ... when older folk like myself consider them cut'n'paste drivel spooging hacked up wannabes.

Perhaps next we can have a serious discussion about which color truely is the best?!?!  ;)

Blink 182 rules!  Anything by them would just have to be the best rock song.  Or Sum 41.

Don't know if somebody already posted this, but I think it's too damn cool ...

ANYthing by Jay-Z ... hands down.

You'll probably get a better response to this if you post in the ACR thread (sticky at the top of this board).

But I'm thinking you've waited a bit too long to ask!  If you're releasing the DVD soon (late summer) that is.  It takes a long time to put a game together.  Even with a story.
#3516
If you're asking for somebody to help you with all your backgrounds, you need to post in the ACR thread.

If you're asking for somebody to paint just that background for you, why don't you at least try it yourself and then post it in the Critics Lounge and ask how to improve.

You offer ONE screenshot when the FORUM RULES specifically state that you must have TWO.

And the link to the one screenshot doesn't work.

When you have another screenshot (minimum two) ready to include in this post I'll unlock it.

Please review the FORUM RULES as well.

The gaming world needs another car racing/modifying game like hollywood needs another basketball movie.

I didn't like AI ... but I think I only didn't like it 'cause it was directed by Spielberg, but didn't have his 'taste' to it.  It was definitely a Kubric movie.  I think, had it been directed by anybody else, I might not have been as disappointed in it.

I actually really liked Minority Report.

Spielberg is, no matter how trendy it is to say it, on the top of my "favorite directors" list.

He's got a remarkable ability to bring great performances out of mediocre actors (think Vin Diesel in Saving Private Ryan).

He also has such a definite style ... I can see a movie of his and just tell it's his.  Even if nobody told me it was directed by Spielberg, I'd just know.

Hook is one of my favorite movies of all time.  I love the 'feel' of the movie.  The scene where Peter Banning enters the old room and is hit by a wave of sensations ... and you can hear the ocean breeze and the seagulls and the music ... it's such a strong scene I can almost smell the ocean ...

The color wash (if that's the correct term) on Minority Report is great.  It works so well, and the 'world' created is so believable, that you almost don't notice how washed out the colors are.  I remember finding a loop-hole in the logic of the movie ... but I'd have to watch it again to remember what it was/is ...

Quote from: SteveMcCrea on Sun 26/06/2005 21:26:47Why were you looking for a background artist again?

I was originally just doing the sprites!  We had a BG artist (Farlander) who had to withdraw for personal reasons.  Then Chicky stepped in, but it was just too much work (still under the ATC deadline).  Then Neil Dnuma (Bjorn) came into the picture with some amazing work.  But then he just disappeared.  Haven't heard from him since late April.  So I decided to take on the task.

I had to put JP & Cosmo II on hold for the time being :(

Thanks for the kind words!
