A truely professional site would work cross-browser AND cross-platform ;)

I'm not a fan of flash intros anymore.  I used to like them.  No I don't.  They're sooo 1998.

As Evil said, "organization" is the key.  My biggest gripes with websites is not being able to VERY easily figure out how to find the information I'm looking for.

I'm all for trying new things with graphics, layouts, etc. but it should remain a staple that it's easy to navigate.

We really wanted to have something more to show but Team Hasslehoff lost yet another background artist which really set us back.

Yet there is good news ... I have assumed the role of BG artist.

Here is my first background; London: Outside the Antiques Shop

And here is my second; still in progress - Inside the Antiques Shop

Hopefully this'll whet some appetites!  We're still 100% motivated to work on the game!!  Look for it sometime in 2009 ;)

But Farlander ... Saving Private Ryan??

1 month and 1 day ...

Never fails.

Well Grundy, since the thread's been dug-up how 'bout an update?

23-down, as the forum rules state, please, in the future send a PM rather than bumping the thread.

The way the vest is buttoned makes his torso appear to be facing [our] right ... but the rest of his stance (feet placement, head direction, and arms) appear to face [our] left.  It looks awkward ...

You might want to try reversing the direction of his torso.

As for him looking dumb?  I'd say the cross-eyed look is a good start.
- maybe make the eyes a bit bigger and accentuate the cross-eye-ness.
- mess up the hair a bit more maybe.
- add some stains to his uniform (might seem more slobby than dumb though)

Do cops in Estonia carry firearms?

EXCELLENT job on the post!!  A+

This game screams with style!

I'm normally not a fan of first person perspective, but it seems to work very well here.

I'm anxious for it's completion!  Good luck and stick with it.

I believe they're retaining walls ... to stop errosion and landslides from wiping out all the millionaire's lovely homes.

Can you really have a second LAST crusade?  :D

Quote from: Darth Mandarb on Tue 17/05/2005 20:24:43However, I have a question. If the first one was the last crusade, how can there be a second :)

*sigh* Nobody ever reads my jokes ...

I like "Indiana Jones and the Crown of Solomon".  Has a nice ring to it.

"Tomb of Solomon" reminds me of "Tomb Raider" too much.  (that's a lot of tooooos)

manny.p - I combined your last two posts, please do not double post.  Just use the modify link.

Sorry all for the double threads, i just thought i had to put it in here to show it was in production and what the updates are, and in the critics lounge to get opinions.

Typically you'd post art in the Critics Lounge; backgrounds, sprites, animations, etc.

You post the demo in here to get some feedback on it.  Not C&C about the way it looks, but how it plays.

Now we've got two indentical threads doing the same thing in two places.  Which isn't necessary.

I've spent quite a bit of time in the Caribbean ... the last thing in the world I'd want to sit on would be something furry :)

I did a tiny little paint-over ... really only added some shading effects.

- added some over all shading effects to the outsides of the chair back
- shaded the cushion/seat area
- shaded/hi-lighted the rounded part of the arm-rests
- hi-lighted the the part where the arm rest turns down

Hope it was helpful!

I'm confused here ...

Are you making this game?  If so, why the same post in the Critics Lounge?

I know when I saw the subject "." I just instinctively knew this was a post about Calvin and Hobbes.

I say go for it.  If you want to do it ... do it.  If you doubt, then don't.

Simple as that.

General Discussion / Re: Emulators

Software/Video Games are and have been, for the most part, as rediculously over-priced as CDs.

I have over 80 gig of mp3.

Y'all can draw your own conclusions about my Emulator/ROM status ;)

Although I must admit ... we found an old NES in Sara's parent's house (which was her's when she was a kid (the nintendo, not the house)) and I play the hell outta that sucker!  I got about 20 games from eBay and I still, on a daily basis, play  Dr. Mario.  BUT, on eBay you get the games for like .99 USD (around 4 dollars after shipping).  I'll gladly pay that price.
#3534
I honestly couldn't believe that when I saw it ... what a shame.

Although I must admit I think it was the right call to make.  If I were one of the drivers I wouldn't want to run on tires that were faulty.

Michellin flew in an entirely new set of tires, but they weren't the tires that the drivers qualified with and thus, shouldn't be allowed to race on.

It was wierd to see only 3 teams out there doing "tire-tests" for BridgeStone.  It was disappointing, but I believe they made the right decision.

I might be whistling a different tune had I spent a small fortune on tickets though ...

Still not the correct place to post this.

AND ... please don't double post!

This should be posted in the "Offer Your Services" thread in the "Adventure Related Talk & Chat" board.
#3536
Absolutely not the correct place to post this!

Post this in the "Offer Your Services" thread in the "Adventure Related Talk & Chat" board.

Good luck.

Quote from: Lionheart on Sat 18/06/2005 18:56:23Bam, hows that?

Well ...

I don't know that I'd want to list my game at 0% completion :)

And it's also bigger (taller) than the allowed restriction ... though I'm not too concerned about the extra 6 pixels :)

Critics' Lounge / Re: First try with a room
Sat 18/06/2005 15:15:03
Yes, for a 'first attempt' it's not too bad.

However there is room for some improvements.

I would suggest:

- fixing the angles on the door.  nothing else in the room is 'bent' like that and it stands out
- add some shading to the bump on the carpet, the shadow on the floor looks nice, but there's no visualization of the bump in the carpet
- if the window is your light-source, the wall the window is on would be in shadow and the side walls would be brighter, you have it backwards!
- the perspective is a little cranky ... but not unacceptable.
- and, as always with me, add some shadows

Again, for a first attempt, it's really good.  These are just some things I think would help improve the image!

Good start, hope it helps.

Loki_Turak - your sig breaks the rules as does asking this question anywhere but the ACR thread, especially now that you've done so twice!

I'm not some random douche bugging you.  I'm trying to help you.

If you're seriously interested in becoming a part of the community here it's best not to start off by steppin' on people's toes!

The sig restrictions keep the forum from getting cluttered up by everybody putting rediculously large images in their sigs.

The ACR thread exists so that the individual boards are flooded with "Help me with my game!" threads.

Thank you, drive through ...
