I too thought it was pretty darn great.

R2's humor was ... I think it was hilarious at first, but I think it went on a little long.

Spoiler

PROS
- Yoda was great!  Piggybacking on Chewie brought huge applause.
- Palpatine's origins were great to hear!
- Tarkin w/ the Emperor and Vader looking at the construction of the Death Star
- The no CG set of the Tantive IV and captain Antilles (hearkening to EpIV) was awesome!
- The Millenium Falcon in one of the opening scenes was great!
- Emperor calling Yoda (my little green friend)

CONS
- I think Grievous was an unnecessary character.  Dooku should have escaped so Anakin could kill him later to end the clone wars
- Where was the scene with Mon Mothma and Bail Organa starting/forming the rebellion (I was REALLY waiting for that)
- Qui Gon should have been in there AND talked to Obi-Wan
- Midichlorians are not in eps 4-6, this should have been explained
[close]

Ah hell I could go on an on with the Pros ... just a few more cons.

All in all I think it was awesome.  It was definitely the best of the prequels.

Speaking of Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal ...

While standing in line for Episode III tonight I started talking to the people in front of us.  Turns out the guy is Michael McCormick who was a puppeteer on both movies!  He was in charge of the skeksis on tDC and in Labyrinth he said there's a spot on the DVD special features where you can see him in the background!

Before tonight my coolest story was that I worked with the sister of the first guy who gets killed in Evil Dead ... this is WAY cooler than that!!

Just went to the midnight show ...

First impression was that it was great.  Lots of action and FINALLY got to see that transformation I've been waiting soooo long to see.

It was long and had a lot of information ... much to digest.

Ian McDiarmid stole the show.  He was just incredible.

There were a few things left out that I was hoping to see, but I feel it segways nicely into the original trilogy.

I made a t-shirt for tonight.  It's all white and in black it says, "PREQUEL HATERS SUCK" ... it got a lot of laughs :)

Quote from: Potch on Wed 18/05/2005 21:06:03I also liked Legend (did someone already say that one?) ...

I can't believe I forgot Legend!!  Yes, a great movie!  Most people aren't aware of the fact that it was directed by Ridley Scott (Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven).  I have the special edition DVD which changed/added a few things, but still a great movie!

Quote from: Potch on Wed 18/05/2005 21:06:03And Darth... I remember Explorers.  I LOVED that one.

Glad somebody else remembers Explorers!

What about Enemy Mine ... I loved that movie.  Just recently found it on DVD and, though a little hoakier than I remember it was still quite good.

Quote from: Esseb on Wed 18/05/2005 17:37:23Speaking of sequels to Dark Crystal:http://www.twitchfilm.net/archives/001988.html

That makes me super excited ... and sad at the same time.  I kind of liked my sequel idea but at least they didn't call it the same thing!

Does anybody remember this movie: Explorers

Wow, talk about a nostaligic trip down memory lane ...

The Goonies and Labyrinth are classics.

The Last Unicorn is one my all time favorites as well.  I still listen to the song from it (by the band America) at least once a week!

The Never Ending Story I would have listed as well.  It's great to see others enjoyed the same movies.  I have the theme for this on my regular play list as well.

The Dark Crystal is a movie that effected me so greatly that I was even working on a sequel to it (in AGS) called "The Song Crystal".  I have the story completed ... just need to find the time someday to finish the game!

Some movies that haven't been mentioned:
- The Last StarFighter
- Hook
- Willow
- An American Tail (just to clear it up there ARE cats in America, I have two!)  Same deal with the song here.

And ... though it IS Disney, I feel I must mention The Fox and the Hound.  This movie was one of the saddest movies I'd ever seen as a kid.  Very dark for a Disney 'classic'.

"I'm going to make my little POS car 2 Fast and 2 Furious!!!  Then I can race it just like the movie.  I'll be so cool!!"

This is a perfect example of morons thinking they're race car drivers.

People just never learn ...

I have trained you guys well :)

I didn't check the thread when it was a rule breaker and didn't understand what you guys were talking about at first, but all is well now, the thread is in compliance.

The game looks pretty good.Ã,

However, I have a question. If the first one was the last crusade, how can there be a second :)

Good luck with your deadline.

Not bad for 15 minutes of work ...

This took me considerably longer than 15 minutes, but I thought I'd share it anyway:

The Mailman (~65k)
(I think I may have shared this before, but I can't remember)

This one took me several days to complete.  I made it for a DVD I sent to my best friend back home.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (~1.5mb)

Thanks to those that entered!

I have chosen the winner ... and that winner is ArboriS .

Congrats ArboriS!  It is now up to you to decide the fate of the next Sprite Jam.

Thank you and good night.

Quote from: PaulSC on Mon 16/05/2005 22:54:13I get the feeling a lot of it comes from being so damn sick of seeing people's bitter whinings about the prequels all over the internet that I end up wanting to like them.
Yeah, I feel the same way.  I'm sick of it too.  But everybody is entitled to their opinion I guess :)

Kevin Smith said, "This is the 'Star Wars' prequel the haters have been bitching for since 'Menace' came out, and if they don't cop to that when they finally see it, they're lying"

(Read the FULL ARTICLE here - WARNING: Contains many spoilers)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's ever been a series of movies that told the end first, then went back and told the beginning.  At least, not on the same level of popularity that Star Wars has.

I have a feeling that when, seen as a whole, the saga will feel much more complete.  I think a lot of these "haters" forgot the fact that it's not complete yet!  Once they jumped on the 'prequel hating' bandwagon they just couldn't get off of it.

Now please, hit me with all the, "There's no bandwagon, the prequels just suck" and "Say what you want, the movies are crap" lines ;)

Quote from: YakSpit on Mon 16/05/2005 20:22:16Well, saw Episode III this morning.
Argh!!

I'm so ready to see this movie.  I keep hearing about people who've already seen it.  My brother and I are going to see it Wednesday night at midnight.

I have my fingers crossed that I will like it.

This is a pretty nice looking BG.  I've worked with this style before and the one thing that was hardest for me to get used to was you can't see the horizon with this perspective.  (as others have commented on)

The two things I noticed which bothered me most were:

1) There walls of the diner look paper thin.  There's no dimension to them at all.
2) You have some shading, but no shadows

Here's a fast paint-over to demonstrate what I mean:

Hope it's helpful.

The shading is actually not bad ... the problem is that with shading like this you need to design each room with specific light sources.  The light should always be coming from her left side because she's heavily hi-lighted from that side.

I always try to shade so the light source is a little less obvious ...

Something like this:

- changed the shading
- altered the eyes
- altered the neck
- altered the dirty pillows (side view)
- gave her a flatter stomach and rounder ass (side view)

Granted the breasts look much bigger in the front view, but this was just to give some ideas!

Hope it helps!

Well technically you didn't double post as my post is between your two posts!

Thanks for the PM and for adding some screenshots BUT your screenshots don't seem to be working.

You might want to use 2adventure to upload them instead.

As was already mentioned, I think it looks cheap.

And, as was also already mentioned, I think the name is lame.

Maybe they should have called it, "XBox EXTREME" ... oooh how cool would that be!?!

Having said that, I'm still looking forward to seeing what kinds of games they come out with.

Of course, having said that they'll probably ALL be FPS clones of shit we've already seen 100 times.
#3638
You should also make her 'lady bumps' bounce a little when she fires the gun.
#3639
I have had this problem with more than just pinnacle studio.

I think it has something to do with capturing something that isn't digital into a digital format.Ã,  When the VCR tape might drop frames here or there, but the sound doesn't skip and then towards the end you're about 3 - 4 seconds off.

The only way I found to avoid this was to capture small chunks at a time and then edit them together.Ã,  It seemed to work for me, though I must admit it was a pain in the ass.

Good start to the animation!

I'm not sure what kind of gun she's holding but it doesn't look like a six shooter.  If that's the case there should be some action on the gun.

- The top part of the gun should slide back as it's fired.
- a casing should be ejected from the chamber as well
- Some more detailing on the gun couldn't hurt

Farlander posts while I'm typing ;)

The more I look at it I realized something else ... you shoult be able to see more of the handle of the gun through her hand.  It almost looks like she's got two right hands!
